Yuengling is the only palatable commercial beer I've found in the United States, and holds up against mainstream European beer. A far superior product to the likes of Budweiser.

+Sarfaraz Hussein Merchant I can understand the daughter's idea. But, I myself loathe IPA' s. I love the line that Yuengling puts out and it's my go-to lager now that it's in my area. I think his kids get the idea. I understand that you do have to keep up with say, Sam Adams and the like. But, understand that an older guy like me (55) and my hipster niece both enjoy Yuengling for its classic quality.

Yep it’s not quite as good as fancy craft beers that are crazy expensive. But for a large macro brewery it’s by far the best one

The daughters have to *PAY* for the company to take ownership. It will NOT be passed down. It's a German tradition I think they said during the tour. What a phenomenal history, family and company *AND BEER!*

I hate going to my local beer stores and seeing four gazillion brands of IPAs and not much else. Please for the love of God, try to persuade your distributors to carry a larger variety of types of beer. I would really like to find someplace that sells Yuengling Porter nearby.

fordhouse8b ok, not going to ask where you are located, but I can give a little assistance. Pennsylvania, of course, New Jersey, New York, the Del-Mar-Va area, Then I know Fla and SC, as Yuengling has a large brewery in Tampa, so there're reason why you'd find it there. Now as far as New England, Midwest, maybe Ohio, other states I'm not sure of. The places I've listed are the ones I do know, visiting those every year, except PA, where I live.

Great story. Huge inspiration. Hope the daughters can take the bull by the horns and maintain the integrity and legacy. Proper respect to the father for caring the burden he must feel for maintaining the tradition and the concerns about keeping jobs and income for his employees. He is to be honored.

I agree, stay away from the IPAs. You don’t want to know what I think about them. Living out here in Colorado now having been a lifelong resident of central Pennsylvania.

Because competition keeps you on your toes…constantly changing marketing strategies, distribution strategies, keeping equipment running or upgraded. Can’t rest on your laurels….but yes, keep the beer the same.

IPA drinkers are snobby and love buying LOCAL IPA. And he’s right….so many IPA taste like pine resin.

mambowman o, you got me by the heart. I'm from Notheast Pa, and a local "Wing Haunt" serves Black and Tan on tap. No dark lager compares. Especially draft.

2:28 The man knows what he's talking about. The so-called craft beer industry has pretty much conditioned beer drinkers into believing that ultra bitter beer hopped to within an inch of its life is quality beer instead of the undrinkable swill that it is. Only in America can you find a beer called Hop Stoopid.

I moved from Blacksburg, Va to Chico Ca and I can say for a fact that Yuengling to the east is what Sierra Nevada is over here in Nor Cal, a local hometown brew. more importantly though, it's cheap because it's local. SN is cheap but has a diversity of different types of brews. Yuengling is a one trick pony. SN was thinking about putting a brewery out near Blacksburg Yuengling isn't a name out here Sierra Nevada tastes like ass. All of it. Yuengling has more flavour, but no name or presence outside of its sphere. I think if Yuengling were to diversify and expand they could do well. SN prides itself on being a cleanly made and efficient beer but if YL were to follow I could see so.e serious competition. Californians are stubborn people but appeal to their environmental sensibilities, keep the costs down and diversify and I think SN would have serious competition.

Sierra Nevada really is very overrated. Doesn’t taste very good to me the few times I tried it.

Just curious, is it cheaper for a brewery to use twist off bottle caps?

I'm not sure if it's a price thing but pop tops have a better seal and twist offs can come loose during packaging. That said I guess pop top is cheaper cause its superior protective qualities

India Pale Lager. Basically an IPA made with lager yeast instead of ale yeast. From what I've experienced it's basically combining the best parts of an IPA and a lager - more hops-focused than a lager but easier to drink than an IPA.
