not truth... Andy Anderson is a pro sure and nice tricks... but if you are looking to see this Alexander Level... don't look for Andy.... B P dont click bait that's wrong....
I know lol. I meant watching the video somewhere in the world. Usually if it meant the person is deceased the the phrase is, "he's watching down/or from above and smiling"
It's crazy when you've seen all of Rodney's skate videos and watched this video and you realize that his greatness is basically untouchable, like it's already safe.
Sick skills. But nothing that hasn’t been done before. That’s why you can’t have a next Rodney Mullen. The guy basically invented skateboarding as we know it.
Comments full of "he's just a copycat...not original" ridiculousness. You fools know that Mullen himself would be over the fuckin' moon to see what we just saw, right? And he'd be flattered, too. Shit, the kid is even sketchy in the same way Mullen is. The chaotic arm flailing is strong with him! :) Awesome video, dude! \m/ \m/
you have to emulate your idols... there's going to be some residue but this kid doesn't copy mullen he has his own style... yeah you do see a little bit of mullen in there but this guy is so good it will just morph into his own and you will see some mullen and that's natural.
and also does that mean any fucking trick that anyone does is "copycat" any kickflip any ollie any tre...is that a copy and who is it a copy of the creator of the trick or another skater? fuckin ridiculous. this kids a great skater. period. any dumbfuck who says otherwise is beyond ignorant
I like to think of him as his own skater rather than making him live in the shadow of a man whose inventiveness and general contribution to the art will never be topped, but regardless of context, Alex is incredible and a super nice, humble guy.
This was 5 years ago, i could only imagine how much hes improved. Not that he needed any improvement just sayin though. This stuff takes a lot of practice and patience and frustration, good for him. In life im sure youll be just fine.
OMG this kid is amazing. I love the old school nods too, the Natas spin, and slashing grass, hell yeah! Someone has to be controlling this kid with a PS controller.
Flynn Swagmire from the way Rodney speaks about how he always wanted to innovate and just do what he does and then plant the seed in the community and watch kids take it to where he couldn't imagine once he got older I think that's what this kid is doing right now and I think he would smile if he saw this video
That's right tho, also Rodney's Manual looks balancing but this guy looks difficult..but I can respect this guy because he can do such a great things ;)
Mullen is Mullen, comparing any other skater to him is kinda unfair, coz nobody is gonna compare. Plus, lots of Mullen clips are in slo-mo, so we can see what he does, he flips the board so fast, Slo-mo is the only real way to see whatever fucking insane thing he just did with his board. (Plus, he almost never showed any bail videos. I can only remember 2 clips that showed him no making a trick. 1 with that dog in Globe - Opinion, and at the end of Rodney vs Daewon Round 2.) At normal video speed Mullen doesn't make it look that effortless, coz guess what, that shit ain't easy.
Well the Mullen videos were heavily edited too. In the RU-vid era, it's ok if you fail, at least in skating. Back then you'd see videos with perfect tricks. This guy here shows us pretty much everything, including sketchy tricks. I like it.
DUDE!!! You are re-inventing skateboarding. Your agility is inasane and your pops and kicks are flawless. I know this take hundreds of tries (as I used to skate too in the 80's and 90's) but I see insane skill. Incredible job. Keep up the commitment. 👍😃👍
For sure some of the most technical fliptricks and manuals I've seen in years. Keep it up, in a few years you'll be doing them as smoothly and elegantly as Rodney
there will never be another Rodney Mullen. No matter how good this kid gets, and he is already amazing, you cant ever be put on the same level as the guy who invented most of the tricks we all do. not only that he does them all perfectly. hell, a shit ton of tricks he did perfectly 20 years ago nobody does sketchy today.
Plus he had freestyle behind him for so many years. That’s why Rodney was so different. He merged his freestyle, style, with Street. That’s why his board tricks were so unbelievably different and progressive
Damn son this reminds me of when i used to dream i was skating and could actually land these kinda tricks, mad props kid keep doin it for all is older guys who had to step off the board
There is no such thing as the next Rodney Mullen . Rodney Mullen was such amazing bizzare crazy skater , that change everything for skateboarding of every trick he did that made skateboarding what is today there can only be one Rodney Mullen because he changes everything to the skate board world making him unique . But I got to say this kid is amazing and tech , keep up the good work , I want to see more.
+jalopez529 y dont forget mike vallely for coming out with the barnyard dual tail deck..yet another milestone in the evolution of skating as we know it
+tasteegold77 It was Rodney that designed the barnyard deck . But as i remember Vision had a deck called double Vision that where out before Barnyard. Anyway Mike Vallely is up there With Rodney when it comes to contributing to skating in my eyes He `s not the Amazing Gyroscope man as Rodney is but his agressive creative style is in a way the opposite polarity of Rodney`s gracefull technicality. Only Rodney Is Rodney A Legend and legends live forever so there`will be no need for a new one.
Guy is definitely good. The trick at 1:50 is probably my favorite. On the other hand, the whole landing cross legged or pretzel style thing he does a lot of; I know it adds a level of difficulty, but it just doesn't look that cool to me at all. Rodney also just has this crispness and flow to his style that I've never seen replicated. Oh and all the tricks he invented.
Your making a name for yourself bro that's so awesome great control! Your on my list of top 10 bro! With Rodney Mullen but not Rodney you got your own flare and I love it!
my knees won't let me keep up the mojo from 20 years ago, but nice to see kids still getting down in the streets. I like the technical stuff more than the big air x-games type. thanks for sharing
I gotta say two things. 1. Rodney was and always will be mind blowing. He did stuff that had never been done before. That's the hardest thing; once it's been done, recreating it is much easier. RM will go down as best skater ever. 2. This kid is a f-ing BOSS! Sick skating for sure!
Throwing out titles like that only pisses people off. Alex looks like a humble guy and probably agrees that it's doing more harm than good. Just let him be who he is and don't oversell it. He's young, don't put him under the spotlight too soon. Just keep showing what he does, people will be amazed enough by the content, there's no need for hyperbolic titles.
If you can pull of the same tricks as Rodney your an amazing skater. If your doing it at a young age your one to watch out for in the future. This kid is both. Someone will come along that takes skating to a new level. This kid could be on his way to doing just that. When I compare him to Rodney I feel he still has a ways to go.
+Mark McCulloch good opinion on that one. watch out for his upcoming part. it's gonna be game changing. This trick just took him like 1-30 trys and we recorded the whole thing in 4 days. Imagine the potential of 2 years filming and more tries.
Jonny Giger I hear ya!!! He has time on his side! I remember seeing a dark side grind for the first time and going nuts over such a trick! I've been sk8ting a long time. Lol I see so much potential in this young man. My eye is on him and the next level of sk8ting is his for the taking if he puts in the work as Rodney has. One out of 30 tries is omg sick for such tricks. For Rodney its like walking at this point in his life at his age, after all the time practicing. Again your boy is on his way. Rodney open a door for skaters like this to walk through and then elevate to a new level. Tell your boy he has a fan of his skating and to keep on keeping on with the path he is on! Possible that in time there will be no comparison at all with Rodney instead we will compare others to him!? Really push him cause I can see from this video he can take it there!
+Jon Peroutka Well, we here in the Olympics believe skateboarding would make an excellent edition to our series of sports we have, getting started is easy, first we have the contestants submit to a simple urinalysis test aaand its gone.
Somewhere in this world i am watching this and i am completely jealous of his skate talent but wont give him shit because he also serves as inspiration and deserves mad respect
Just when I think skateboarding has reached a peak and can progress no further, someone like this comes along and shocks me with his creativity and skill. Very impressive.
Everyone is taking this way too literally. No shit he's not an exact copy of Rodney Mullen. No shit he didn't thrive in the 80s and invent his own flatground tricks. Do I also have to explain that this kid is not 49 years old like a "real" Rodney Mullen would be. Seriously, yall need to take your Rodney Mullen enjoi boards out of your butt holes and realize that this kid's style is pretty much like Rodney's which is rare and refreshing in today's world of skateboarding.
+Jonny Giger My main argument was that even though this kid is decent at flip tricks and manuals, he'll never be the next Mullen. Mullen is a literal genius (borderline autistic) and revolutionized street skating for all of us. This kid isn't revolutionizing anything; he's only doing something that's already been done. I understand that the title of the video is for marketing purposes- increased views, etc.. but's its extremely inaccurate. Either way, the only thing that matters is this kid is having and doing what he loves.
Joshua Liebscher haha then you should better brace yourself for his new street part it's nbd only. alex has landed more tricks then any other human being i know and i also know some pros. he's the human who gets closest to rodney mullen.
Not only is this guy really good but the video is correct Rodney would be proud of this if he saw it I bet because Rodney is all about finding something and innovating with it and making it your own and I see this guy doing that with a couple of spots. Near the beginning that little metal thing that he would do a stall on and spin around I love that stuff that shows somebody's very creative
it's as if we are seeing rodney at his stage where he was still just getting the locking into tricks . look at how he balance's with his arms the same way rodney did the first time's i was watching one of mullen's plan b part's . this kid is more than the next Mullen he is the first Rademaker ( well at least i think so ) . Thank's again Jonny For another SWEET VIDEO !
Maaaaaan this is sick as fuck!! I'm having goosebumps from these manual-flip-nose manual-flip-manual-flip-flip-manual-flip chains that even are smooth af! fk man superb!!
In terms of the style of tricks and overall flatground dominance? Yes. But Rodney was a beautiful human being for other reasons that no one can replicate. Let Alex be Alex in his own way!
To be the next Rodney you need to not only be able to do his later years street tricks but also his 80's+90's flatground tricks like one hand stand to primo to 360 flip.
