Can I just say from an actors point of view. That the whole richelle pretends to turn her back on the studio so she can kick out the mean studio head that only lasts for 1.5 episodes is pathetic. (I’ve been a fan of the show since season 1). This could of been a storyline/ plot point that lasted half a season. But just like the 2 seasons before it The Next Step producers believe that throwing brand new story lines almost every new episode is a “good thing” (news flash it isn’t). Plus the mediocre at best acting also paired with the horrific script writing you can see why season 4,5 and so far 6 have had a ratings decline. The only reason viewership is increasing is because the show has started airing episodes in the USA. Season 4 was 40 episodes to capitalise on the success of the first 3 seasons. It flopped big time. Season 5 was cut down to 20 episodes because the producers team had to save funds on how bad season 4 was. Because what other reason would they have to randomly cut down a season to 20 episodes when the 4 previous seasons were 30+ episodes long. Season 5 flopped because of this weird desire to rush storylines. You know how in the first 2 trailers for session 5 it was implied that East vs West was going for most of the episodes. That is what season 5 should of been about. Instead the fans only got half a season. Finally for season 6 what reason would they have to delay the release of the show by 6-7 months. Again the producers had to save funds because of how bad season 5 was. I know I’ve ranted a lot on this post but it just frustrates me because this show had all of the potential in the world after it’s first 3 seasons. But the producers and actors (new and old) got complacent and that’s why the show has suffered in seasons 4,5 and now 6
Joshua Marciano that’s what’s wrong with season 4, 5 and 6. I know I disliked them but I didn’t know why and now I do. I get so invested in the story and all of a sudden in 30 seconds it’s solved and there’s another big problem.
Charlie Barden I also have struggled to buy into the characters in seasons 4,5 and 6 because they’re either one dimensional (Kingston season 5 and parts of season 6), don’t have any impact on storylines(Henry, Richelle and Cassie season 4. Noah and Jacquie in season 6) or are cheap imitations of characters from the first 3 seasons (Finn and Piper season 6. Noah in season 4,5 and 6). Only in season 6 am I finally buying into Amy and Henry as characters. If you go through these last three seasons I could point out countless examples of this, but that would take a long time and I’m sure you could also find countless examples of this.
Charlie Barden You make a good point. When was the last time they went on a major tour around the world 2015 early 2016 I think. The 3 day BBC summer social this year doesn’t count because they were in Liverpool the entire time and a tour doesn’t last 3 days. But I don’t think that season 6 will be the final season unfortunately because this is the Family Channels cash cow. Also as I previously stated they have started airing the show in America in 2017 which will bring in a bag of cash in for the show. Finally I feel like they are building towards a second internationals win in the show which I feel would be season 10 before they end the show. Which is unfortunate the way the show is currently progressing not many people will watch that final season unless for once they can actually do some decent promotion for the show. Like the cast and Amy Wright literally just posted a photo pretty much saying “oh by the way season 6 episode 1 will air midway through September.” What you do your promotion months in advance not weeks before. Like honestly this show could go down as one of the worst children’s television show not only in Canada, but probably the world which is disappointing considering how well the first 3 seasons were received
