You guys gotta watch/listen to NF - The Search. This video is a continuation of that song and video. But I’m pretty sure that the people in white represent those who have accepted God into their life and want to begin to let go of their burdens and trust God to help them through it. Some people have on a fake smile trying to get through everything, some don’t. Either way, letting go of things that have held you down is a difficult process, so that’s why nobody in white seems to be “happy” or smiling yet. In the final scene, I believe the hand reaching out represents God, and NF (as well as everyone wearing white waiting in line) is finally starting to let go of his burdens and trust God to take care of him going forward. Could be wrong 🤷🏻‍♂️ I was actually in this music video too! Drove down to New Orleans from Michigan for the 12 hour video shoot. Totally worth it, and NF was super humble and cool with everyone 🖤💯 Love your reactions! Keep it up

welcome to the NF train. read some people's responses and think some are looking to literally. Nate has always said he is letting you into his mind, but as in intro 2 he never said it was a beautiful house, referring to his mansion song. IMO most of his visuals in his videos are really metaphorical references to what is in his head and he gives his emotions physical forms like fear, anger, hope, joy, etc so he can deal with them on a more relatable plain. He has said his cart represents what you carry your life around in, the balloons are his burdens and doubts, the smile is the fake smile we put on for the world, the people with balloons both in white and black are those lighter and darker thoughts that come with burdens some have more and some have less, if you look in his cart he has both the white and black suits but he not wearing either, as if he is caught in-between. when he looks at the line of people getting there smiles removed he raised his hand to his face with the look of wait this fake smile comes off? He shows when he talks about fame a older guy in his cart like a future self stuck in the same spot if he doesn't let go of the burdens he has, like in his song wake up. At the end he debates whether its ok to let go of a couple burdens when he starts to hand away a couple of the burdens, look closely his hand is shaking when he reaches out. these are my thoughts have a good one.

The smile is the "fake smile" he paints on his own face. It first surfaced in Therapy Session. His catalogue truly is one big ass story. (His life) even if you dont react to his older stuff, please do, you gotta at least watch it on your own time to get what hes saying on your own. It is a reference to The Joker from Batman, but became a staple in his performances during the Perception tour. This newest album, 'The Search' is all about him breaking away from what he's done in the past, and carving a new path on his search for himself. That's the significance of removing the face paint.

I have been following NF for about 6 years now and I just got on to watching reaction channels at the beginning of this year. It's been so much fun for me watching people become introduced to NF and if I'm being honest kind of frustrating at times to LOL. A lot of times I find myself going "no you can't listen to that yet! You're not ready for this song yet!" LOL. And if you listen to NF from the beginning you would understand where I'm coming from LOL. He really truly is in a league of his own. And I'm not just saying that because I am a major fan of his. I am 43 years old and I have listened to hip-hop since I was a teenager. I grew up idolizing a lot of hip-hop artists from back in the 90s and Looking Back Now obviously I have realized that most of the stuff I listen to was poison. I think deep down I've always just appreciated a good beat and something to be able to vibe to. I have listened to hip-hop my entire life and once I got introduced to NF it was pretty much over from there LOL. Truth be told the reason I started following MF was due to a song he did with a Christian artist by the name of Flame called Start Over. I didn't even know he could rap when I heard that song. and that song he is singing but it was that song when I was going through one of the most darkest seasons of my life that brought me back to relationship with God. I have always been heavily influenced by music and this man has an incredible gift for writing music that is so extremely relatable, raw, honest, and real. the first hip-hop song I ever heard him do was called Notepad. and this song he's literally rapping about his notepad lol but it was such a clever song I just fell in love with it. Anyhow I think you both should take the time even if you don't do reactions to all the songs because there are so many of them but go back to his Therapy album and then listen to his Perception album. I really enjoyed your reaction to leave me alone. Sorry this message was so long but I always love to encouraging people when they first hear of NF to go back and listen to his older albums. the painted smile is a reference from 2 albums ago in therapy session, if you listen to that song you’ll understand that part, but there are so many underlying metaphors in there that you won’t understand if you don’t start from the beginning of NF, (mansion). The black paint on his face (joker face) is something he performs with as well. In Therapy Session he basically says people want him to make happy music and smile more. So he paints that on as a mask. Balloons are his burdens. He also has that and the shopping cart at his concerts. People in white getting the face paint off- people who are happy. NF discusses in detail over his career how he gained his fans by being relatable. By writing about his life and issues. He had a tough upbringing and he’s from Michigan like some other rapper ;) so he struggles a lot with the concept of letting go of his issues and letting them float away (burdens) because if he does the music might not be as passionate. A dope concept NF uses is that his mind is a house. It sounds weird now but Mansion explains it. Sorry for the long comments. It can all be confusing at first. My take on the video is that the people throughout the park are people like him who feel like they have to put on fake smiles in life, they have burdens and also are searching for hope just like NF. The booth where the lady is wiping off their fake smiles is a sign of progress but NF isn’t ready for it yet, than the people in white are taking him to the Next spot for change so they drop him off for him to change his clothes to white but he isn’t ready for it, so he passes on that too. Than he’s in the dark spot where it seems like people are just like him who haven’t been able to get out of the dark so they’re just stuck with their burdens and never found hope. But than he leaves that place because he also is not ready to give up like them so he takes his basket to the front of the line of people taking their burdens and I think MAYBE the hand that comes out is God’s telling Nate to let him take his burdens away. That’s my Theory.

I hardly comment on videos.. I honestly feel you should watch the videos in order. He is a philosopher. Everything goes in order like chapters in a book. Nathan is a brilliant artist. Im a pure heavy metal guy that avoids all rap. With that said before hearing his music I always felt alone. Never thought anyone understood me. I've attempted suicide numerous times and lost the art of self love. His music saved me and made me think twice and me look into god again. Please listen to his music in order. Newer songs and videos have references to his older music. Mental health is always a touchy subject that people avoid. He brings light to it. His fan base relates to it. Name one rapper than can draw attention from any fan from multiple music genres... To some he is an artist... To others he is the voice most need to hear. The black balloons represent his burdens and dark thoughts/past that he carries with him. The people in white represent purity, and cleanliness. The all black are obviously the opposite. They remove their black clothing to become pure, and wipe off their fake smiles to represent they won’t need to put on “masks” and “fake smiles”. The first video we see this in is his can you hold me (cover) video. Makes me cry every time I watch it. It puts things in a different prospective.

I think the background stuff is showing people getting help for mental illness, and his struggle with wether he should get help or fall for the lie that he can do it on his own. (Ex: wiped the smile off Himself, others had someone else help with it.) I relate to him so much, I suffer with bipolar type 2, anxiety disorder and suicidal ideation; so I know the back and forth on wether I should get help or do it by myself.

Edit: in 2017 he took Billboard Top Album and people didn’t notice but this year The Search released the same day as Chance and NF still took Top Album. Us NF fans are loyal. Once you go on the journey you’ll understand. He’s truly awesome. You guys are awesome! I’m sure others have said it but listening to some of these songs in order is so important. NF has a thing with personifying his emotions as if they’re real people so some of the songs out of order wouldn’t make sense. Mansion Outro INTRO III It’s super important to do those songs in order or else it’ll be super confusing since they’re a story almost. I tell people NF is the type of dude that has albums that are chapters of his life and he will reference them. Even in this song “remember back in no name I said fame called...” In his song No Name fame calls and he hangs up on fame and will get back to him when he makes album four. So The Search is album 4. Just an example of how NF tends to reference other stuff. You’ll love him. Dude only makes fire songs. Tommee Proffit is his producer on about 95 percent of all four albums so the nf sound is absolutely consistent. Other dope songs The Search INTRO II (Both intros. He makes fire intro songs. Intro III is different for a reason so def follow the order I said earlier. He once in 2017 said INTRO III was terrifying to make and he was so scared so it’s a dope song). The point of this song was his burdens. In the beginning he enters and sees all of this people in white with black balloons. Also the black balloons represent this burdens. So you see him passing by a stand where they wipe of the black smile. That black smile represents that he smiles on the outside but has a different emotion inside. Anyways the point of that was to show that it's time for you to not care about what people think of you or your opinions. Then we see a group of people dressed in white clothes pushing him. They are guiding him to change and give up his burdens. Then we got people changing from black clothes to white clothes. That basically represents that they are beginning to change. Giving up they're old life and starting a new one. Next you see him in an area where there are people who didn't change and that tells you that is how it is going to be if you don't change and give up your burdens. Finally you see a hand reaching out and NF giving them the balloons. That represents that he is giving up his burdens but you can see that when he hands them the balloons his hand is shaking. He is scared to give up the balloons (his burdens) because without them he'll finally be free. But then what does he do now like he gave up everything that he ever knew and doesn't know that to do anymore. So when he says "I scared if I do then I'll be more afraid" he is scared because he doesn't know what comes next. He doesn't know what to do with all of that freedom. So basically this whole video is about if he is ready to let go of his burdens and be free. He'll will change in his own time but he just doesn't what to feel pressured in changing.

At 6:18. I don't think he's talking about fame. I think the things he is saying, represent his doubts and ocd obsessive thoughts. We don't post enough on our socials to keep the buzz from fading - let it fade yeah. Then after all that is said, he is saying I don't need advice from my doubts right now end of conversation. He is essentially talking to the voices in his head, which he's referenced in multiple songs and albums.

Yall got it backwards. This is everybody that is like Nathan. They had burdens and faces and were dressed in black. They decided that they were ready for a change and took the initiative to take those first steps. NF is afraid of the change to get better mentally because it'll change him entirely. So him potentially giving away his balloons is a big step for him. This whole video he was pushing away his balloons(burdens) as if they were annoying him. He knows he should at least try and get better but will everyone except his change a.k.a. fame. At the end of the day he doesnt care what others have to say, but he wants to also take care of himself spiritually and mentally.

The people in the white represent the people who were struggling with depression, anxiety, etc. but want to be better and are moving towards that. NF feels he wants to do that but he’s scared to. His balloons represent all of his burdens and guilt. He said “hold up my balloons and cover up my face I can feel them weighing on me everyday I should let them go and watch them float away but I’m scared if I do them I’ll be more afraid” meaning his burdens feel so heavy to them even tho they’re just light and little but because of his OCD he overthinks them and they become bigger and heavier than what they need to be. He’s been through a lot in his, especially his childhood. His mom as and addict and he biological dad wasn’t in his life. He had a lot of resent towards his mom because he felt like she didn’t love him and always choose her addiction over him and his siblings. She overdosed and he feels guilty for that resent, which is one of his major burdens. His stepfather was also abusive towards him physically. He doesn’t swear in any of his songs. A lot of his songs correlate into his other songs and some of his songs you won’t understand unless you listen to another. But all in all his songs are one big story. He’s truly in his own lane and not like any other artist. He grew up in Michigan and one of the people he looked up to was Eminem.
