Whang, you kinda got it backwards, Tom Kenny said they "couldn't" make up fake swears, it was too hard to make it sound natural without using actual swears so they decided to just actually swear and censored the lines in post production. That's why the audio is so controversial in the first place, because the actors are actually swearing in the uncensored version

There's something oddly funny about old Spongebob behind the scenes being almost infohazards. I can imagine you tell someone "I saw a cut clip from an episode" and suddenly the FBI shows up at your door, you get doxxed and enter a list of most wanted individuals.
This comment makes me think that the situation surrounding the leaking/eventual release of Radiohead’s _OK Computer_-era Minidisc files - where there was a literal shadow council of elite Radiohead fans who convened to regulate the flow of information to the ignorant masses - would make a great subject for a video.
These scenes are always annoying gatekeepery, because they use this material to trade for other material for others for their own personal collections. Would be much easier if they just dumped everything online, but sadly there is a black "market" for tonnes of this production content and lost media among collectors.
And cuts down that one scene where Squidward got set on fire via gas, all that trying to get the taste of the Krabby Patty, which the episode aired one month after the attack.
Tom Kenny said in an interview that they were flat out cussing and it was beeped out for the show. They were saying fake curse words for the first few takes but it did have a natural flow so the producer told them just let the bad words fly. Don’t remember the interviewer but it’s been within the last year or so.
Tbh that second clip sounds like ai. It has that subtle “buzz” to it and it’s also spoken really fast, which are both little imperfections ai voices, especially the cheap/free ones have sometimes. Reminds me of uberduck before it got neutered.
I don't even know if it's a media literacy so much as that most of the people complaining never even watched it and are just playing an incredibly stupid game of telephone. Granted it would have been a lot harder to track down a recently aired new episode of a TV show in 2000, but PTC doesn't have that excuse, they're just weird right wing grifters.

Nickelodeon needs to release the uncut Rocko's Modern Life episodes, even if they have to track down the deleted scenes from tapes of the original airing.
From what I understand, they fully intended to give Shout!Factory the censored versions. Do you have a region free player? There's a German release of the series that's almost completely uncut.

I’m pretty sure that was meant to be the joke. At the end of the episode, Mama Krabs seems to swear, but it was just Old Man Jenkins' car horn, which seemed to imply that the sound effects weren’t censoring by the bad words, but were actually the bad words themselves.
@rlinders9972 That's a real stretch in logic. It makes way more sense that the noises are just riffing on how swears are normally censored on broadcast TV. At most, it's a clever way to imply she said a completely different swear.
It always bothers me when leaks like this have to involve literally unnecessary harassment of real people. I do not give a shit about what a corporation "feels" when its copyrighted works get leaked, leaking content from them is always ethically fine to me. Doxxing and harassing a minor during the whole process should never have happened and didn't HAVE to happen.
I despise people with egos so big and so fragile that they refuse to publicize information that will be a net positive because hoarding it makes them feel special. It's like collectors of old video games refusing to dump the ROMs online because it would devalue their investment.
That clip of SpongeBob and Patrick audio with SpongeBob swearing was put on the Internet archive and was actually taken down by Viacom recently so people are suspecting that it is actually real

It would be kinda hard to tell if it's legit or not, because the IZ crew are known for being such straight-faced trolls that the fandom took their jokes as legit, like they joked that Dib would have been killed off in Bad, Bad Rubber Piggy and replaced with another character called Andy or something like that and that Nick said no, but it turns out it was just them joking and they never seriously considered the idea.

Honestly, leaked stuff like this should be archived for all to see, its cool stuff that has significance, especially if it gives us insight into early versions or productions of shows
To me the biggest issues with how this was conducted is mainly with the discord. I understand that they wanted to discuss the gigaleak and other nick leaked content, but they forgot they were dealing with viacom. The worst part is the doxing and the discord token leaked. It's not cool to do that over bloody nickelodeon of all things, but I think if the gigaleak file was put out as a torrent or split up into smaller zips on drive or onedrive or smth, it could have been avoided. No point hogging files people have wanted for ages, starting on 4chan. The files should have just been put out there from the start and these issues could have been avoided, or at least minimised, and by releasing it on 4chan and only that, as well as by using an alt discord account for the server in case of takedown or whatever risk, all of this could have been different. Once you make a discord with valuable information (obtained illegally) and go public, you have to consider the risks and take steps to mitigate.
Really this is indicative of the wider issue of people being so eager to store such valuable information on Discord servers. There is no permanency to a discord server, one day it could vanish without warning and everything lost.
I'm embarrassed to say that when I heard that audio of Mr. Krabs began to sing only to then mess up and have a cursing fit I almost choked on my chips from laughing
I interned at Nick nearly 20 years ago and saw an animatic (storyboards edited for timing with sound - not finished animation) of Sailor Mouth uncensored while I was there. It was on a VHS tape and and was kept in a locked cupboard very few people had access to.

Some of the ghosts are dead people, but some are also native to the Ghost Zone, so I can see how Hartman got confused; especially if that interview was conducted during/after Season 3, where all the ghosts are from the 'Zone. Also, it is very clearly "young" and not "yo".
in the first 2 seasons, it was pretty explicit that the ghosts died. but season 3 kinda fucked it up by making the ghost zone not an afterlife, but actually a parallel dimension or some shit I haven't actually watched any dp recently.
Two inaccuracies right off the bat. It wasn't a dolphin noise. It was a distorted kookaburra. Secondly, Tim Kenny said the idea was to originally use made up words but because it was too difficult, they sweared for real and censored it.
I remember coming across the cut voice recordings for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic episodes of the VA's swearing in the voices and it was so fucking funny! This is wonderful and I'm so happy to know this exists for Spongebob too!
Man, I wish some kind of "gigaleak" would happen with WWE. There are so many amazing video and music pieces (entrance themes, titan tron videos, alternate commentary tracks, unedited/unblurred shows, etc) that just sit on drives and servers that people like myself would gladly pay for, but they just have zero interest in selling.
I don’t know why but I remember hearing that salior’s mouth actually used actual swearing to make the censoring more realistic, and I remember being shown a tweet or something from a voice from SpongeBob saying the uncensored audio is locked in a ‘safe’ I think. This might be a lie, but who knows.

But as the other person said, it has been years, and could have been impersonators. They'd have been damn good impersonators bc this vid got hundreds of thousands of likes/reblogs. But it is Tumblr and that site can be easy to trick haha
