I haven't been able to get Michael Esper and Collin Kelly-Sordelet singing Sting's song "The Night the Pugilist Learned How to Dance" out of my head since I saw them at the Drama Desk Awards! I've been singing it all day. I'm sorry that I didn't have a chance to tell them "Bravo" at the event. :)

As far as Broadway Musicals are concerned, I am completely mystified at the failure of Sting's 2014 offering, THE LAST SHIP, at the Neil Simon Theater. Despite playing to full houses at the two performances I attended, this $15 million production closed after only three months. What a disappointment! At the very least, it was worthy of a 5-year run.

3 years late, sorry. Its apparently a lack of funding, despite the great welcome it got. Contracts and pricing for production increased for some reason.

@@grantcurry4839 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Last_Ship_(musical) The play was nominated for a few awards but never rose to the top. Any hope it had of doing well was instantly crushed when COVID came around. They toured a little bit but didn't seem to get enough money to continue for long.
