Developer Mighty Koi Studio announces The Night Wanderer, a new sci-fi/fantasy soulslike with RPG elements based on the Polish book series "Lord of the Ice Garden" by Jarosław Grzędowicz.
I'm so glad Lord of the Ice Garden is getting a video game. While the Witcher might be objectively better, this one is my favourite fantasy saga by the Polish author. Can't wait.
@@Cross8ow hmmmm, it's more action oriented and not as cynical as Witcher. Don't have as many characters and really focuses on two. Vuko is a lot less cynical than Geralt and more in line with self confident action hero (though he isn't Gary Stu, he faces a lot of hardships and has thing to works on). Filar has coming of age story, a lot like Ciri, but maybe more grim. World building is great, as it's mostly about medieval-like planet influenced by people from our world in near future, but some plot twists and concepts slaps. And while Witcher themes are more progressive, Lord of the Ice Garden is way more conservative, with visible European Union scepticism through the story. Which might be negative/positive/neutral, depends on how you perceive political commentary in the works.
While watching the thrailer my exact thought was "hey, are they shamelessly copying "Lord of the Ice Garden"? And then, to my surprise it turned out that it's just going to be based on the books!

But on the surface level it's rather clear that the books were part of a wave of Witcher clones, with a hyper-specialised main character, a professional type (along for example Ja, Inkwyzytor and the comedic take of Jakub Wędrowycz).
Exactly! that was my first thought. the book was amazing (at the same level as witcher saga). PS. Look at the description below video. It is indeed based on polish book series by Jarosław Grzędowicz.
Please take as much time as you need and make the game this book and universe deserve. Take your time, get rid of bugs and glitches and give us a real work of art. ;D

In this case it's an elite super soldier from Earth being dropped on an "alien" medieval like planet for an infiltration mission. So he has high tech gear that's disguised to look appropriate to the planet he's on and lots of funky implants.
As a proud Pole, please keep making video games based off of Polish novels and comics! They're teaching me more about my heritage than my own grandparents.
the last time a polish gamedev studio used "Coming when it's ready" as a promotional slogan for their upcoming game, we had to wait 10 years for its release and it didn't end well. so we better don't get our hopes up just yet.

Wait so this studio just announced a Thorgal action RPG and this souls-like RPG at the same time...? How many people are they ? What kind of budget do they have ? Kinda crazy. Could they be the new CDPR ? Who knows.
What's with games being obsessed with swords against massive creatures? It's the most impractical weapon for giga beasts. Give your heroes spears, pikes, halberds or any other polearm. Better yet, a war bow with bodkin-tipped arrows.
In lore he has a sword because they didn't know about non-human agressive creatures. Sword is expensive and thus can be a sign of wealth of the "knight" bearing it which was to make Vukos mission easier
Look what you've done... Space Viking concept got out of being a joke now lol. Great trailer and the narrator just smashed it. Also graphics look great be it like Witcher instead of Souls clone please. Souls mechanics are just choking and when not like Elden Ring, gives quite lineer combat feeling.
