When we started our RU-vid Channel 4 years ago, we never would've guessed that our underground manure line would plug a few days into getting our channel rolling. The plugged manure pipe turned into a year-long ordeal! It was a complete nightmare. Once we finally replaced the line, we thought that would be the end of it. But now, here we are dealing with the nightmare all over again. Hopefully, we can fix the problem easily, but we'll have to wait and see.

Trinity Dairy was established in 2006, in Minnesota. Alan and Jennifer farm with their 5 children; Jessica, Justin, Jordan, Joshua, and Jason. We milk a mix of 33 Jersey, Holstein, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, and Ayrshire cattle. We also enjoy sharing our family's love of Draft Horses and using them for logging and other farm work. Dairy Farming in Minnesota can be challenging, but it's a lifestyle we really enjoy. Subscribe today to watch our small family dairy farm and family grow while continuing to thank our Lord for the blessings we've been given.

I remember a classmate putting in a pit 20' from the barn. They used blacktop for the floor of the pit. The problem came when the only way to get to the pit was next to barn where pipe was buried below. The dump trucks crushed the pipe so it had to be dug up and replaced. Part of the pit could be emptied into a tanker by gravity. One year while trying to fill the tanker the knife shutoff stuck partially open. What a mess, DEC got involved and it wasn't pretty because the outflow flowed into a small stream. A fix to the problem afterward was to to put in a 2nd knife shutoff. Good thing you caught it before winter. Count your blessings.

Don't know if you use circulation powder to wash your milk plant line but a good dose of it used to get our drains from our slats going. It made everything very slip and kind of soapy.

I remember how much work that you and Connor put into that mess. Not exactly the smell of money that you were looking for. Awhile back I had asked you about our old barn that didn't have a barn cleaner and you thought that it must have been cleaned out by hand. As it turns out, there was a manure trolley system in the barn at one time. I found the old trolley railing on the ceiling of our stanchion barn. I don't know if you have ever heard of one of those but it must have beat carrying out all the manure by hand or cart. I hope the best for a good outcome.

Hii Alan .as you repaired the pipe in the barn .i write at that time to you :" take new pipes with 8 or 10 inches .out of the barn from the pump and lay them complete new to the lagoon !! This is now a nightmare too .😮 I know .when liquid manure system will not work . Could you not lend a Vakuum manure tankwagon from a machinery dealer ? Then could you take out the manure in the barn .for the days .when you repair the pipe . Best greetings from north west Germany from Bert .

Well that's a hell of a note. At least it's in the summer when the cows can stay outside more. Ours stay out overnight (some people don't do it that way) but anyway. Hopefully that doesn't happen too often. Roto Rooter time??
@MorganOtt-ne1qj
@MorganOtt-ne1qj 7 дней назад
Get about 5 gallons of prune juice, and pour it in the sump! 😮 In all seriousness, you may well have a hole in the pipe going to the pit, or the check flap/door allowed solids to back up in the pipe. None of which are pleasant. I have to say that I probably enjoyed (not in a humorous way, but appreciated the work you have to do) more than you did making the video. Best of luck with it, and God Bless y'all!

Sorry that this happened again. I milk 8 jerseys and 8 goats and a mennonite family makes cheese and a couple other things for sell at their market. I use straw and haul all the solids out to a manure spreader and all the liquids get pumped out into a liquid spreader but my pipe is only 16 ft long its never given me any trouble. I don't know if that would work for you or not but it's an idea. I know you have alot more cows than me and its alot more work I hope this helps

I so much want to give my opinion, suggestions. But I won't. This stems from work and having to resolve issues so troubles won't occur again, or as often. Was hoping to hear, "Thar she blows!" Maybe the next one.

I worked for a jetting company and had a job at 1200 head dairy farm. They had a major plug in the main line and couldn’t get it going. We had a super sucker with a jetter. We put a vacuum on the main and tried sucking backwards towards the pump. Sucked for 30 seconds and heard a loud whistle noise and the line was flowing. Dumped the super sucker and had a aborted calf 🤮 Turned out a cow must have had twins and one didn’t make it and it somehow managed to get into the grating and into the pump No one could explain how it happened. I hope you get it figured out. See if the jetting company has a camera they can run down the line and hopefully get some answers.

Sorry for your trouble. Maybe those custom guys should set themselves up with suction and blow out equipment that could be used on pipes so they could offer this service every time they pump a pond. Would make good business sense for them and peace of mind for the customer.
