The 3DS games you demonstrated were shown running at 60fps but those games are supposed to run at 30. I dunno if adjusting that would boost performance but it may be worth a try.
I'll mod the Switch when they officially stop supporting it. In time people will find a much easier way to hack it in that time, like with the 3DS and PS3, PS4 etc.
@@kevincampbell989 How do you know it won't get any easier? A lot of gaming hardware that was only moddable physically eventually was able to be modded via software only.
I absolutely love my OLED switch and I definitely don’t want to risk bricking it, but I’d love to get my hands on a used switch lite solely for emulation. I mostly just want a portable gcn emulator, but I definitely don’t wanna drop $400 on a steam deck. I’m heavily considering modding a lite or kicking up one of the newer anbernic 405s because I heard the recent updates drastically improved gcn performance
@@LothlorBass Odin Lite seems pretty cool for the price. It will run most of the PS2 & Gamecube games but it doesn't have as nice of a screen as the Switch OLED.
It runs Switch games really well. A modded OLED is the pinnacle of free gaming handhelds. I have a 1.5TB SD filled with 300 Switch games. I learned how to micro solder too. It's hard to even fathom emulation on this system with the full Switch library at your disposal.
Thats really cool Regarding PSP emulation, unfortunately Im pretty sure the emulator doesnt really adjust automatically and there are specific setting like for ex. core clock speed that can be changed per game to make it run smoother
Do a modded Switch still mantain the original Switch OS too, I hope? I mean: is there a dual boot option, so I could go in using the normal Switch with all my games and saves (and system updates from Nintendo too)?
Hey you earned a NEW SUBCRIBER! love gaming devices 😭, btw can we play these EMULATORS on the PC & TV?? like same like how we nintendo switch games on PC & TV.
Hey thanks for the reply, thank god you replied fast because earlier I didn’t subcribe you properly, and did properly and yes am a subcriber!! Oh ya lastly when we mod nintendo switch, is there any cons to it like maybe no software update or nintendo switch updates? Also can’t wait for many more videos in the future! Keep up the good work! 🙌🏻❤️💪🏻
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds thanks mate! Truly appreciate it, now i’m REALLY INTERESTED IN IT but i’ll for the new nintendo switch, since there’s rumors going around about it! Cheers! 💪🏻👊🏻
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds Hey i’m still loving your videos, and because of this video i’m still planning to purchase a modded version. But i also do still want to wait on the new nintendo switch 2 and in a modded version hehe, or i was thinking about buying a modded nintendo switch oled or the odin 2 pro? Which would you suggest is the best gaming handheld if i want to play all nintendo games from gbc, gba, ds, 3ds, to nintendo switch emulators & games and as well as psp emulators, also mobile and optional bonus pc game if possible. Ya gbc to mobile games i mentioned above should be good enough. Which would be a best handheld that plays of all these emulators i mentioned above in a proper good quality performance? Or is buying an laptop perfect for that 😂? Oh ya Whenever we download all these emulators do we have to pay or it’s a free download in both these handhelds?
I have a modded switch lite and I use it basically only for emulation. Probably could've opted for another cheap handheld emulator but hey at least I can play switch games too!
Great vid. But my dude... it's pronouced "Jaann Dark" with a soft "Je" pronounced like the "ge" in garage. "D'Arc" is one word... The d apostrophe means "of." She's a French historical figure and in English it's literally "Joan of Arc." So at least go "Jane Dark." But GnD Arc??? What the heck bro?! 😅
“Merry-oh”? C'mon. Have you never played a Mario game and heard him say his own name? Please tell me one, single, game where he pronounces it as "Merry-oh". 😂
I was thinking about hacking my Switch so I Googled what emulators run well on the Switch and this video popped up. Thanks for making this video. It made me decide not to do it. A cheap $60 Anbernic device has better emulation performance than this.
@@JoeysRetroHandhelds The Android side looks promising. So when I jailbreak my system for the first time and it asks about partitions, should I set the Android one to 16 GB right off the bat so I don't have to re-partition again later? Does the Android side read your games from the EmuMMC or Android partition?
3DS games running on Switch? Did not know this was a thing. Super impressed! I'm a big fan of running Android on Switch. Can't wait for the Android 11 build to become more accessible and easier to install and run.
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Still hilarious how I said I wanted to watch a video like this and you were already making it 😂. You got a new subscriber!
There's a Flycast standalone emulator for Dreamcast that plays basically everything perfectly. Retroarch adds a lot of overhead that hurts performance.
Unfortunately it’s not true. Without over-clocking, Dreamcast just doesn’t “fly” on the Flycast. Very disappointed performance, even half resolution still unplayable.
@@jerrriell im just getting back into modding my switch again im trying to remember what emulators i used but i played dreamcast hydro thunder with zero issues
Disagree. Retoarch is better and standalone can’t play MULTI disc games properly. You can’t seamlessly change discs, unlike the retroarch version. Until then, I’m sticking to the core version 😊 get good
Ive had my switch sense it came out and im feeling that its at the end of its life cycle this year. Thanks for showcasing the emulations, im ready to mod now!
Hey I was wondering if you know how to set up the Ryujinx switch emulator on the switch after its jailbroken. I was able to get atmosphere set up. Most the Ryujinx guides just show people playing on pc at the end but im hoping to get it on the switch hardware. Any help is apricated! @@JoeysRetroHandhelds
it would have been fun to play The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time remake for 3DS on Nintendo switch that would be awesome Nintendo if you're reading this this is a Miss opportunity dude
I have falaxy tab s9 plus with adreno 740 gpu, and all of these games are run fine on my tablet through retroarch. The switch hardware shows its age and doesn't have enough power to run all emulators with decent fps.
It's not that big of a surprise considering that the Tegra chip that came out with the switch was dated at launch. Plus modern smartphones and tablets have come a long way in terms of hardware inside, there are a lot of variables of course but the majority of people have upgraded their devices during the lifespan of the switch.
@@otakukj i mean on the same hardware.. emulators run better on the Switch in Android mode than they do with the regular custom firmware. Android has more overhead as an OS so you would think it wouldn't run as well.
I have no clue how to do any of this to my switch lol. I'm just getting into emulation handhelds, and have a few anbernics and miyoos. But my daughter would love it if I could hack the switch. Great video brotha!
DS needs some optimization, specially considering MUCH WEAKER phones can perfectly run DS at native resolution, and even at higher, I could run DS perfectly fine with the high 3D resolution option enabled and the Scale x2 filter applied on my old LG Q6, which can't even run Minecraft well anymore, the Switch is plenty more powerfull and perfectly capable of running DS perfectly in terms of hardware capabilities, it's just being limited by software, I wonder how well it would run on Android, considering that under Android it can even run Genshin Impact, and Genshin is by NO means an easy game to run, even current mid ranges struggle with it, said mid ranges will have a literally perfect performance emulating DS, and it's even more clear when you take into account the Switch can even emulate itself under Linux
I have two RetroArch questions, please. 1. How do you make the graphics less jagged, and have the emulations match how they look and play in the official NSO apps? 2. How do you save settings for specific games, like if I want to play Donkey Kong 64 in widescreen, but not with Diddy Kong Racing? Do I have to manually change them every time?
Wait what I wanted to also buy a pre modded olhed switch cause my Samsung s10e(global edition so bad chip) wasn’t that good at emulating PS2 but it could run god of war psp at 1080p 60fps and Pokémon x 3ds 720p 60fps and n64 was also running smooth and it ran god of war PS2 at a 40-50 vps it would lag constantly
This time i am going to preorder a switch2 and never touch it until a year later. By then a CFW should have been made ready for first gen switch2 consoles.
If you have a v1 switch I'm pretty sure the android version that runs on it is very old and outdated wouldn't recommend probably has vulnerability security that's been hacked to
I have two Switches, a V2 and a Lite. Haven’t updated the Lite in ages in hopes of a software mod, but that may not be a thing until much much later! I’ll just live vicariously through you, haha.
honestly you're better off looking for a v1 or using a mod chip but if you're gonna go that route I'd recommend getting an OLED anyway for a bigger and brighter screen.
tbh, i'll just use the switch for switch stuff. emulation on a handheld is exclusively on my steam deck. it just does it better, and battery life is very good on emulation.
@@idontknow390it can run more than switch can, and i dont game for more than 5 hours straight, which the deck does for emulation. if ya do super long sessions and play ps2/gc/wii u/xbox 360/ps3(not sure if switch can even do some of those well enough) than maybe itll win out, but i cant imagine anyone needing it for that long without the option to charge eventually. then there is the problem of needing a chip... because the v1 switches have awful battery life. those are 100% losing to the deck, its not even a contest. i have one, for reference. you would need an oled or later model to even hope to make it fair lol edit - also worth noting, decks battery life drops greatly playing wii u/ps3/xbox 360, but its better than the switches in those cases, which is 0 hours... because its too weak to do so lol. id even say if you wanted to mod one of those models with better battery, its just plain better to get a deck... most switch games run fine on it too now, and its way more capable as an emulation device
@@Zalibidas but the switch is more portable and last longer and for new the switch has port of those as well and the switch don't get heavy in your hand as quickly
@@idontknow390you used a deck for a long time? the weight is nothing. can go hours holding the thing. its got such a good form factor the weight ends up being a non-issue. switch is more portable but not by much... if you want something for portability, retroid pocket or anbernic devices beat both switch and deck in both portability and battery life. switch does not have ports of those higher requirement emulators that run well. the switch is just too weak. thats where devices like the deck or rog ally come in. the switch is actually in some weird area in the middle that doesnt make too much sense for most people for that specific purpose. its fine, but there are better options on all fronts. if you chip the oled model its a pretty good device for it, but you either buy it premodded costing more than a deck which is pointless or you risk damaging your existing switch. im not saying switch is bad for this stuff, but the deck is just flat out better. if i can find some time i can do a side by side in video. have both available to me. the one device people seem to forget that is pretty insane for emulation, portability, battery life and interesting library or games is the ps vita which is in kind of a perfect spot for what most people want imo
If you don't have a Switch though you're better off getting something like Odin 2 Pro or another powerful Android device since you'll be able to play PS2, Gamecube, and others the Switch can't run.
Depends. If you want to play Switch games at all, you'd want a Switch. But if you want pure retro games, that work perfectly for PSP and under, you might want a Chinese handheld, yeah.
Can I in the 3ds and ds emulator turn the picture layout to vertical and put the tablet on its side so that the image displays more like the original console. Since the joycons are detachable, I don't think this would be a problem, but is there such a feature in the emulator itself?
