These are catered for dr's, lawyers, ceo's that can afford for 1 hr of pay or for super fans that want to look & feel like 007. The cost is not just for the product but the branding. It is just like people buying athletic sports wear to look like a famous athletes.
I was on the fence about size after reviewing the websites sizing guide and gambled on the size=Medium. Glad I did, it’s the correct fit for me at 5’10” 172 lbs and a 33 waist (if I’m looking for some wriggle room). No belt necessary. Mesomorph body type. Super fast shipping from GB, in my hands in less than a week.
It's an update on Connery's combat gear from the Volcano climax in YOLT That was Sean's fifth and so called final film (at the time) and there's a similar vibe in some ways with NTTD Both look epic saving the world extravaganzas and finishes the Craig era with that Connery pattern for his films coming full circle
Was not expecting this to be an outfit you could fully source but with this and Danner announcements it seems expectations will be exceeded. Looking forward to review.
@@louiscyfer6944 And that's the power of advertising. It gets you to buy stuff you don't need with money you don't have. Fun to look at, but just that.
@@firearmsstudent the only thing you need is food and water.the rest is wants. i am also kidding. i got the pagani version of the watch for a 100 bucks and the danner boots are not expensive. i can also afford it.
I’ll order a pair out of curiosity, they have interesting detailing and pocket placement that elevates these into something special and stylish that no-one else offers. Climbing pants like the Mammut Eisfeld Advanced SO have the same sort of vibe but with truly bullet proof materials. Love the sweater as well. **Update- Friday, Sept. 24 The pants arrived today. - I ordered the gift wrap option and it came in a black box with the 007 logo in black on top, the box wrapped in black ribbon-very nice. - The pants surprise you with their weight, the material is on the stiff side. - I''m 5'11"/200 lbs and normally wear size 35/36 (35-36" waist) and 30-32" inseam in most pants and the sz. L fit well, close to the fit on Daniel Craig in the movie. (slimmer in the thigh/hips) Good: - Pants fit well - Nice shade of medium grey - Quite heavy, possibly durable material/sturdy construction - Lots of detailing in zippers/pockets Bad: - The material lets these down IMO, very similar to my Orlebar Brown Griffon trousers in cotton, but in a thicker fabric. The OB's have an unusual, stiff material that wrinkles easily and has absolutely NO stretch- not 1mm, much like these combat pants. The size Large fits very well overall with just enough room in the waist, hips and thighs (again, similar to the fit on DC) but I would be worried about shrinkage in the wash (100% cotton) making them uncomfortable or worse, unwearable. I don't like dry cleaning. These trousers need to be a blend with some degree of stretch to allow more mobility when bending the knees and making them more shrink resistant. There is also a warning tag that the material will lose color in the wash. So, lose colour and shrink? - Generic zippers- My made in Canada Wings & Horns hoodies use RiRi zippers from Switzerland, many other pieces of clothing-YKK/RiRi. Does it matter? To me, yes. - While looking inside the pants I came across a made in China label. I assumed that a "higher-end" British Heritage brand would make these in the UK. $385 CAD for a British branded-pair of trousers not made in England? No thanks. N.Peal should be transparent and state clearly where these pants are made to give the consumer the option, I don't see this info on any of their products, nothing, not even "imported". Is anything N. Peal made in the UK? There is no mention on the website that I could find so buyer beware. Private White, Lavenham and SEH Kelly offer made in the UK for a not unreasonable price, maybe N. Peal could have contracted PW to make these pants- they have done so for other companies, I would have paid the premium. - I've been picking off white lint and loose threads since I opened the box, totally unacceptable at this price. Is this the GAP? These will be going back, the James Bond marketing isn't important enough for me and I really wanted to like these, what a shame. Save your money and time- don't bother.
Hi David nice content as always - starting to believe the film might happen now, I like to practice stealth budget Bond,. I got an surplus genuine navy "woolly pully" for £10 and added it to my high st Henley and long owned grey Swedish hiking cargo trousers and boots, swapped my Swiss diving watch to the NATO strap £5 and bingo full Bond look for £15 and only I know (or geeks like us!) All the best from U.K. 🇬🇧
TBH, I wish the designers went for something more functional and pragmatic as opposed to “style” over substance. They could have got something easily accessible that would make Bond look great. There are better combat pants out there which are practical and stylish without looking like a Bond wannabe/will never be. Pentagon make some great combat trousers that are not only comfortable and functional but they look good. Kuhl (available at REI) also make great outdoors combat inspired trousers. If you’re going OTT then Crye Precision make the authentic combat pants (G3, G4) but you’re looking at $300-400 for them and they are the real deal, “tacti-cool”. That said, it pays to shop around and see what works for you. Anyhow, I hope folks enjoy the film, Daniel Craig’s last outing as James Bond.
I'm not into fashion, clothes are purely a necessity for me. But I just saw the movie and the pants got my attention. Bond is all about style over function. From the cars he drives, to his beloved Walther PPK. Getting him into some Crye Precision gear would just cheapen the character. Anyway, it's a movie and all the clothes the main characters wear are tailor-made for them, so nothing you buy will look as good, unless you know a good tailor.
@@scratchy996 in his retirement he definitely went more casual and down market in both his villa and wardrobe. I think that’s a good thing. These pants, not even the real deal, are just rampant capitalism and pretty silly overall. Hard pass.
@@scratchy996 Lol thanks for pedantry. Marketing of mediocre products based on image and nostalgia. That said, cool pants for someone more concerned with looks than functionality.
I will be out of state when this flick comes out. We already made plans for date night in Tulsa with dinner and a movie. My wife and I can’t wait…… On a side note: I still have my authentic USAF commando sweater in olive drab. I retired in 2000 and my sweater still fits as it did back in the day.
I love these already! Two things I'm curious about though... 1. The cost. I hope they don't slap a crazy high price tag on these. 2. How they wash up. Being 100% cotton I would expect them to shrink some. Being 6' tall with a 30" waist I would go for the small in hopes that they wouldn't shrink up to capris level.
These look great David, I would love a pair of these 'combat' pants myself! Although for any urban commandos out there, these pants are only for show, don't wear them on an operation...there's nothing tactical about press studs!
@@cPIP36 haha I was thinking throughout the video the face on my ex-platoon sergeant when I tell him I'll be leaving the wire in a cashmere sweater and 100% cotton "tactical" pants. He''ll laugh and then PT the crap out of me.
Hi David, I really enjoy your channel and the amount of passion you have for the 007 universe and the real world items made for it. I have worn several pairs of these kinds of pants before. I'd go with a navy button down short sleeved shirt (plus a Bond nato strap watch), or, as you have with the cashmere golf shirt - and look perfectly stylish, AND NOT BE cosplay or tacti-fool.
Always appreciate these detailed reviews, David. For a company that specializes in high end cashmere, I’ll be very curious to see their price point for a cotton trouser.
Urban Camo and Cargo Pants have been a thing since the "Sting" pants, Parachute Pants, and Bugle Boys of the mid 80's. What is cool now is "Grey Man" wear that is hidden, blend in Tactical. This pant would be more "Grey Man" outside of the side clinch pulls.
well that is the beauty of been an Israeli army reservist, not many uniform regulations , i been in operational reserve duty whit the Spectre Sanders boots and the NPeal Spectre sweater under my uniform ,great feeling indeed
They look better with the black Polo. The watch looks fantastic. Now all you need are the Crockett & Jones Islay Boots from Skyfall to finish off the look.
these pants need a tactile turtleneck..the tactleneck. The mock turtleneck charcoal would be great with this or a black thermal from american apparel if you want more casual
New sub....I was looking for info on " Born from the Experience " pants", and your video popped up. Ironically I have a pair that look very similar. Great video, straight shooter.
From owning a few N.Peal products I’m genuinely surprised they made these tactical cotton trousers. They don’t have any experience producing this kind of trouser so it’s impressive they got it so right! I only wish it was made in superfine merino too 😄
Can I ask how tall you are? The sizing chart says the inseam is 30" for all sizes. Usually longer than 30 I need to get them hemmed but with all the detail on the legs that would be difficult for these. If a person's legs are longer it wouldn't really matter if the length was short if they were wearing something long like boots underneath.
Wow after searching endlessly for these pants two release dates ago, I figured it was a lost cause (some movie prop, not available for purchase). Thanks for the update and the detailed review.
Agreed. When he's standing next to the picture of Dan Craig, it's clear it just doesn't translate. I maintain that the sweater is absolutely fabulous but the whole "tactical" vibe is cartoonish. Remove the silly gloves and replace the pants with a rust brown chino, add a dark brown boat shoe or loafer. If we actually are insisting upon the tactical vibe, do a similarly colored dark navy chino, add wheat nubuck Timberland boots and stop there.
I bought the trousers and they look great. But the buttons are brutal. I’ve got other, actual combat/tactical trousers, and not one employs a button fly. So to me it seems like an affectation that reduces user-friendliness. Still, great review as usual, David.
Love the pants and the black polo combo. But i just have one question, what about the straps? Do you just leave them hanging down or can you hide them somewhere?
UFpro or Crye. Everything else is cosplay. I could see these being worn very casually in a hipster/grunge/alternative outfit with vans or converse with a flanel shirt on top.
Hi David, Genuinely i'd like to see a frugal video on alternatives to this overall outfit/look. I like both the combat trousers (not pants...I'm British lol) and the sweater too.
You'll get the jumper, pants and boots in any decent army surplus store, it wont break the bank either, if you're on a budget and in some ways will be more genuine than what a fashion brand like N. Peal has to offer. I'm a bit weary of something that is faux tactical and ten times the cost, when you could go real tactical, and they'll last better.
Guys thanks for the info. I'm not surprised same look can be archived for much less, & be more authentic too👍. My issue with Bond in this outfit is they are designer "branded" items, & imo it takes away from the realism. (Obviously not seen the movie at this point) surely these items would be Ministry of Defence...standard issue Naval items....not Hundreds of pounds worth of high end fashion gear from boutique stores. Bonds personal clothing thats fine, its another thing.
Awesome! I was looking for these pants and wondering if they were British military spec or made exclusively for the film? Were they made by the costume dept. and not N Peal originally? I have a pair of black British military surplus M65 tactical pants (a'la Brosnan in GoldenEye or Dalton in TLD) but they're made of ripstop material. I tend to be a bit rough on cloths and would wear them doing outdoorsy stuff like hiking and rock climbing. I just came back from a big hike in Utah, Zion national park. Are these N Peal pants sturdy or just really for urban wear?
@thebondexperience Sorry to trouble you but have some inconsistencies in measurements between the site and when calling the store that only has an xs left. Was wondering since you have a small if it's at all possible to measure the waist when laid flat and also the thigh measurement from the bottom of crotch straight across if possible Any help is appreciated greatly thanks
Got a question, I’m looking to ether buy the N.Peal sweater or the RGT jacket, I am only getting one or the other and wearing it to the premier, which one?
Lovely looking pants - but buttons for the fly? Perish the thought that I'd get thrust into a shootout with some of the best armed henchmen in the world and I REALLY needed to take a pee - behind cover, would definitely prefer a zip.
For $385 you get a made in China pants that simply replicates what's seen in the movie without the actual quality of a "combat pants". For the price you can buy actual combat pants from Crye Precision, Arctery'x LEAF, Patagonia, and Beyond Clothing. For a more sleek pair that looks much closer to these, Arctery'x, Mammut, Triple Aught Design, Kittanica, 5.11, and Royal Robins offer pants deisgned for hiking, rock climbing, and tactical operations with truly bullet-proof materials.
@@TheBondExperience Please can you tell me the 'real' waist measurement of the S size, if you lay them flat and measure across? From the thighs and seat measurements in the N Peal chart, it looks like S would be my size too but the waist is far too small...
Great review,I would never have guessed that it would have been N. Peal that made them. Do they come with the brace buttons sewn in? Any ideas on where the tactical braces are from?
