I'm partial to the theory that Bittercold and Dark Matter are the same entity; it's just that Dark Matter got more time in the oven and thus developed sentience and the ability to speak and whatnot, whereas Bittercold... didn't. They both DO have the same pink cores in the center...
Ohhh that's actually a really cool theory. I didn't consider the similarity of the pink core in the center either! I'd definitely buy into the idea that they have the same origin but evolved/grew into different entities.
I was looking at non-pokemon characters in pokemon games (specifically mystery dungeon) and am so glad I found this video because it was a good overview of all of them! I am glad to have discovered your channel
as a giant pokemon rumble fan I think a short video on the non-pokemon entity of Dark Rust from rumble blast would be really cool! along with the concepts that come with rusty pokemon in rumble blast and world!
Honestly I was thinking about that!! I played Rumble Blast when it first came out but I don't think I ever beat it, so I don't actually know that much offhand information about Dark Rust. I think revisiting the game and making a video on it is something I'm definitely interested in!!
Oh my goshhhh I’m so glad I got to play both of these games when I was younger! Gates To Infinity will always have a soft spot in my heart for being my first PMD game but Super completely swept me off my feet. (Spoilers) The part near the end when the main character asks what they have to fight for when all hope seems lost ONLY to look at the partner character and realize that the answer is right in front of them DESTROYS ME, not to mention the heart wrenching switcheroo of who has to leave following soon after… UGHH, chills!!
No way, Dark Matter? I thought I beat that guy in Kirby's Dream Land 2. And several other games. 3:51 Yo, it's Victini. I love Victini. Very interesting video. I have not played either game, so I didn't know much about these guys before. But now I do! I think they should give Pokémon Ranger a non-Pokémon final boss. Mostly because that would mean making a new Pokémon Ranger, but also rangers canonically use the Capture Stylers to transmit their feelings to the Pokémon they're catching, so you could totally do something like this with that.
Or they could make a new ranger with ultra beasts, and the capture stylers can’t capture them because they technically aren’t Pokémon. And then they need to make a BEAST capture styler to capture them. I don’t know I just want a new ranger game too
Ranger came REALLY close in the second game what with that weird stone influencing both Darkrai and Blake Hall. And they never did say what caused that energy from it.
9:33 - 9:59 Had no idea Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon had all the locations of the previous games until now. 10:39 - 11:03 You mentioned Dark Rust! I thought of them at the beginning of this video!
I'm curious to see both bittercold and dark matter, or even a new/old non-pokemon entity make more appearances in future games. I have hopes for a future pmd game eventually, and these villains are definitely an interesting topic for the pokemon centric games. It could spark more entities just like them with all the influence from emotion and the like, and I'm all in it for seeing that.
I'm definitely all for more non-pokemon antagonists in future PMD games!! I love how unique bittercold and dark matter are so I think they definitely would come up with something really cool if they tried the concept again!
@@nekolacey YEEEEEAH It’s always interesting hearing about the non-exactly-Pokémon in the series. The pokestar studios bosses in particular come to mind. Great video as always!
A SMD theory I have is that Dark matter was still reborn, but this time as Xerneas, a literal extension of the tree of life. My main piece of evidence is it Xerneas hinted to exist in this universe at all. Yveltal never mentions her, nor does any legendary, and most damming of all Celebi describes the first final battle against Dark matter but never mentions Xerneas. If it really was the tree of life personified, why didn’t it communicate the impending threat? Why didn’t it give us advice at any point?
My theory on Dark Matter is that its related to Void/ the Dark Matter of Kirby Specifcally, its an incarnation of the titular void, since it was made of negative energy, can possess others, and with certain characters (the partner/Kirby) it can be purified.
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Infinite holds a strange nostalgia for me. I never played it, I only saw it in ads like I did Pokepark 2 and that fun little song. Yet just anything like that around Gen 5 holds huge childhood nostalgia for me. The style, the pokemon, me being a little Pokemon Black addict at the time. Something like this reinforces the special magic gen 5 had that Game Freak can't really resurrect. They burnt themselves out, they do the same stuff over again. When they try something new, people usually hate it because it's different unless it's big and triple A. They did all their innovation and magic in the DS/early 3DS era. Maybe we'll never get to see it again, but at least we can appreciate it in retrospect.
Ohh, interesting, no wonder they seemed similar on the surface! While playing Gates, I could understand Bittercold on my own, whereas Dark Matter was a bit more convoluted. I though it made perfect sense to "accept" negative emotions as part of who you are, but it was unclear to me how the universe (and all of creation) was tied to the growth of the negativity within Dark Matter. I wasn't looking at the bigger picture. But when this video got to 9:17, mew mew mew! I finally understood! It was those feelings you (and everyone over the generations) are born with, and ended up rejecting as you(they) work towards the person they inspire to be!
This is the kind of comment that I love!! I'm so happy the video helped you understand the two bosses more! Thanks for making my day with this comment :D
