Well, devrse for the B class engines of this, for not being trusted at all and was told for good but they didn’t care. Ooo, god, sufferable traumatic for everyone involved it too. Very shock for Sodor. Half engine imagine if she was in the story in the script, but hope Gordon is trusted too and still now onwards yes. Half engine before scrapped spouse not many lost their lives so yeah. Thank you.

Erm, I don’t know what you mean. This story was written and uploaded to RU-vid long before the Half Engine was introduced. Also, speaking as both the writer, director, editor and narrator of this channel, I have long since made it a rule to avoid ALL fan-created OCs in a story I write - the exceptions being the OCs I have created myself. As for other people’s OCs in my other videos, they are simply adaptations rather than my own creations, so I always ensure the creators are credited.

I'm Just glad that Alfred and Crovan Weren't here to saw what they saw, like I feel so bad for 98462 and 87546. like I know that the both of them didn't deserved that fate, like I feel very bad for them.
@TARDIS9
@TARDIS9 4 года назад
Unfortunately, it would seem that they were subject to that fate, given that, in other media, 98462 and 87546 are revealed to be named Alfred and Crovan respectively. Then again, my stories draw primarily from Awdry's writings, rather than fan-made content (The Trainz images are just there for illustration), so technically there aren't really any B12s or B17s going by those names. Since he never gave them names, I have decided against naming them 'Alfred' and 'Crovan', to keep the stories faithful to his and Christopher's books. So I suppose, depending on how you look at it, Alfred and Crovan did avoid watching the deaths of 98462 and 87546. :)

Terrific and terrifying story. The way in which 98462 and 87546 went almost makes you feel somewhat sorry for them. It only goes to show that how quick and hard the judgement day comes to some engines. Just one question: what exactly did they crash into that caused such an impact?
@TARDIS9

@@TARDIS9 Well at least you mentioned James after 98462's accident in an earlier audio story
@TARDIS9
@TARDIS9 4 года назад
Yes, but even so, mentioning the big engines going on strike and Percy arriving on the railway would have sounded to me, the writer (and generally one-man production studio here, not including the music), too jarring. As in suddenly, right in the midst of a very tragic event, a happy (and completely unrelated) one were to happen. It simply didn't feel appropriate to mention it, so I decided against doing so. I was trying to go for a far more dramatic, more emotionally-charged and more darker feel with these stories, and I prefer the central focus of my fanfics to be ethical, moral and social themes. It just felt like the wrong place to mention those two events. I only mentioned James's crash because I wanted to show how deeply the crash in this one impacted all those involved. While I do intend to refer to previous stories in order to keep up the RWS-feel, to refer to unrelated events constantly would not feel like a brand new adventure at all. Besides, we all know what happens next, so there's no need for me to mention it in these stories. The only reason as to why I mentioned 98462 and 87546 leaving the railway was because they, along with Beyer, are the main focus characters of the volume. Also, too much detail in a work of fiction can put some listeners off, since it may be irrelevant to the plot - with particular regards to fanfiction. I know how this sounds, but since I want to be both a teacher and a writer professionally, I personally want my stories, be they fanfics or originals, to be written as professionally as possible. Please understand this.

just one small question, how many crew members were injured or killed in that accident? I'm just asking. like I know that 98462 crew and 87546 driver were killed instantly, and 87546 fireman was injured but survived, which makes that 3 deaths and 1 injured.
@TARDIS9
@TARDIS9 4 года назад
Well, I'd say that 87546's driver did survive as well, but unfortunately his injuries were too great, and he died in hospital. The signalman was unharmed, and his box undamaged, but he was suspended from the railways, charged with manslaughter (owing to the strict legal system at the time), and sentenced to three months in prison, followed by three years' light labour - it was taken into account that, while he was indeed responsible for the accident, the memories of which haunted his nightmares for the rest of his life, he had simply had a lapse of memory, owing to his memory loss. Edward's crew had jumped clear when they saw what was about to happen, as did Eagle and Neil's crews. Gordon's driver, fireman and guard managed to survive as well, and luckily received minor injuries. The two guards, being at the rear of their trains, managed to survive, and were quick to report the incident to the emergency services and the breakdown gang. So that would make it a round total of twelve crewmembers (or at least eleven crew and one railway staff member) surviving.

Well, in the accident this story was based on (which is the Quintinshill Rail Disaster of 1915, one of the worst rail accidents in the UK), the real life signalman (who also had short-term memory loss) was charged with manslaughter, and imprisoned for several years. I’m not sure what happened to the signalman in this story, but I’m certain that, at the very least, he would have lost his job and, given the harsher legal system at the time (bear in mind this story is set a hundred years ago), would likely have been prosecuted for the accident.

Curious, in the sequel video, why didn't the Fat Controller give Gordon a harsh punishment for what he had been saying to Beyer? I mean, he was downright torturing the guy just because of the actions of one of his brothers! All he did was tell Gordon 'Let this be a lesson to you!' I'm sorry, but that's just not much of a punishment to me. I would have scolded him severely, shunted him in the out of view sidings for a few weeks until he had seen sense, apologize to Beyer, and not pull coaches for the foreseeable future! (Honestly, some of these engines just refuse to grow up and learn lessons. If you ask me, the Fat Controller should keep a closer eye on his engines.) ....curious, would that have been his punishment? And why didn't he speak to the month engines that were giving Beyer a hard time? What they did was inexcusable to, even if it wasn't as bad as Gordon. Sorry for these questions, I just think they should have punishments depending on the harshness of the crime!
@TARDIS9
@TARDIS9 4 года назад
I know what you mean. But you forget: when Gordon saw that car on fire, and heard it crying, he practically saw someone dying an unpleasant death. That’s a very sobering and very horrible thing for anyone to witness. And when he broke down, Gordon was unable to rescue those in need - which only made his feelings worse. Also, when the Fat Controller discovered what Gordon had done, Beyer intervened before he could say anything, reminding him that there were more pressing matters at hand. In addition, since the Fat Controller overheard Gordon apologising to Beyer, he practically observed Gordon swallowing his pride and admitting his guilt. These stories are set in the Railway Series universe, where the characters have always struck me as eventually becoming more mature and evolved to some degree, and not in the TV series universe. Besides, since the Fat Controller in question is Sir Stephen Topham Hatt, it is likely that, in terms of dealing with the engines’ behaviour, he is an altogether more lenient man than his predecessors. Remember also that 98462 and 87546 were far worse as bullies - they were the type who deliberately disobeyed orders, and who took dangerous risks, putting people’s lives in danger. All Gordon did was call Beyer bad names. So naturally, with this in mind, the Fat Controller would have been more lenient, especially since it is possible that he too has heard about the two ‘B’ class bullies. That is why he decided that Gordon’s predicament was punishment enough for him. As for Henry (who was the only other engine who treated Beyer roughly), it is possible that the Fat Controller overheard him apologizing to Beyer, and likely had a quiet word with him about it off-stage so to speak. These stories are completely different in feel to the TV series, so sometimes it’s a matter of reading between the lines here, with all due respect.

No, he didn’t. If the signalman hadn’t made his mistakes, the whole incident could have been avoided. If the Fat Director (as the person in charge of the railway in this story is not the Fat Controller, but his grandfather, since it is set in the past) had known, he would forced 98462 and 87546 off the train on the spot. I'm afraid that that is something even I cannot judge for certain. The Reverend did say they were sent away, but never under what particular circumstances. But it is worth bearing in mind that in this story, I only used the accident to show how the things they did left a deep psychological impact on the engines, and to put pay to two particularly nasty engines. 98462 and 87546 never showed remorse or guilt for their actions, so this accident was a form of karma for them. Yes, they did not deserve to die. No one does. But in an accident of that scale, it is nearly impossible for everyone to survive. Also, I want my stories to largely avoid the whole 'Luckily No One Was Hurt' stereotype of accidents in the Thomas franchise, and to use events that leave a serious impression upon the characters.

1. That is not an exhausted face. That is Henry’s unamused/depressed face. 2. It depends on which you’d prefer. It works either way. 3. It was on the outskirts of Vicarstown, in the open country. 4. I explained that Gordon hit the wreckage. Therefore, he saw 98462, because the latter was partly lying on his line. 5. Whichever of the two died first is irrelevant, as it contributes nothing to the overall story. Also, they double-headed the train, as I explained, so they were very close. 6. I already said how destructive the crash was in the story. Less than half of the passengers survived, and I already explained the damage incurred to the engines.
