Cheers Purple, I remember it when it was a working Railway with BR although Freight only, usually Coal trains with 2 20’s or a 44. Nice look round and the bridges overall do look in good nick. All the best.
Thanks for the input Paul. I bet seeing 20s on the line was a treat and a half back in the day. Yh it will take time and money but overall it can be done. Take care fella
Brilliant stuff. I'll speak with Graham and Adam when I'm next over and make proper arrangements. I haven't a clue how to go about things but I know I can.
I thought I read somewhere, a couple of years ago, that Network Rail were thinking of taking back ownership of the whole line and re-opening it between Northampton & Market Harborough for passenger services. Mind you, I've been hearing for at least the last 15 years about a new station at Irchester, no sign yet. Great video.
Yes I heard the same thing but apparently it won't be done because of the level Crossings. Irchester station will now be off the cards as a Greenway extension is planned along the route instead. I also heard of a future tramway from Wellingborough to Rushden lakes but that's a pipe dream too. Good comment and I hope that's good enough of an answer for you 😊
I read that the Northampton line is of high priority to reopen and has gone through to the next stage of consultation in Parliament. As for level crossings, they most likely would bridge over all roads, especially with the new developments at the Northampton end. Never say never !!
This is true, I personally heard the reason to open it was to save the historic Harringworth viaduct. At the moment Midland Mainline freight use it between Leicester and Corby. I don't know what this would mean for Lamport railway.
WONDERFULL.Cycled it and walked it all the way to M.H. Most enjoyable. Beyond where you walked there is/was a footbridge but the actual stepped were removed. Farther on you have the tunnels of course and a problem of getting under the A14. Dont think I'll live to see that happen Good video David. THANK YOU
Count me in for the walk...often walk sections of the Brampton Valley Way & the tunnels but never done the entire length from Harborough to Northampton.
