I played Goths in a multiplayer match against Teutons. But instead of infantry, I went Heavy Cavalry Archers and Hussars instead. My opponent wasn't prepared to face a highly mobile ranged force as he was expecting infantry, so he lost.

NAC 1, back in the day, DauT's HM was regicide fortress and players would pick a secret civ for it: Jordan picks goths, DauT picks mayans! 11 It was played in the WK version, hard to compare to nowadays meta... Anyway, Jordi anticipated it and it was a counter pick rather than a cheesy pick.

suggestion: some content about how pros prepare themselves for tournaments, what is training like, how do u measure if u are doing better in training, maybe talk about ''overtraining'' at some point.

was a goth otp for like 10 years. but between the combination of the supplies tech, general across the board infantry buffs, and new civs having tools to deal with goths, i started playing other civs. me and the boys generally play arena, used to be black forest players.

What about a tournament where you don't know the opponents civ (until they play with UU)? Goth would probably be great at that....

Think aoe2 needs some more high aggressive civs that fall off or are limited. ATM at pro level this doesn't feel like the case.

Can someone help me understand this? I downloaded the big .parquet table with all matches from aoestats to make some nerdy tests, and I noticed that the goths have the FASTEST IMPERIAL AGE. For each civ I took the time of imperial age and made a plot showing only a point for the 1% fastest (0.01 quantile) from all matches on 2023-05-07 to 2023-05-13 (I had problems downloading more recent files). Goths was the fastest by far. I noticed the fastest Feudal are civs with good bonuses like Mongol and Malay, but fastest Imp are usually gunpowder civs that rush Imp age. But why goths? The huskarl is available since Castle age

Aren't Koreans also a reliable last-pick? Not so much because of anything weird about them, but just because that's about where they fall in terms of priority.

I dont get how goths counter mayans... they have free loom and will be less susceptible to goth dark age aggression, plus they have crazy strong eagles which trade favorably with huskarls. If they go champions, just make scorpions.

they don't get picked first, kinda like bulgarians, although bulgarians are also not picked last either
