I think Horror thrives in theatres because it is an experience to see it in the dark with an audience, getting spooked together, hearing the gasps and sceams and the suspense in a group is something that really enhances the genre
Went to see John Carpenter's/Stephen King's Christine in theatres for its anniversary today. I was too young to see it in the 80s, but it was a better film in the dark with an audience.
Mr. Nolan is not obliged to mention Barbie in _any_ capacity (why is Grace so fucking hung up about Chris failing to mention that Other Film in public??)!
Nolan doesn't need to mention Barbie. 1) it's at another studio 2) I wasn't made or produced by him or anyone he's related to 3) he probably didn't like it and is too much of a class act to say what he thought of it, unlike James Gunn who went on a tirade about how much he hates Batman 89 and Batman Begins.
I watched The Equalizer 3 with my roommate who normally doesn’t watch Theater movies and he was impressed. Both of us never watched the first two movies.
I recommend watching the first two, especially the first. That's probably the best of the three, because it's the one where Washington's character was the most challenged by the main antagonist.

The problem for me with A Haunting in Venice is that it is marketed as a straight up horror movie…when the novel “Halloween Party” only has references to scary elements and reads more like a traditional Poirot novel. I think that’s why general audiences haven’t really caught on that it’s a mystery movie.
Didn't Universal promise Nolan a 100-day theatrical window for Oppenheimer? If that is the case, we're only about halfway there. 100 days after July 21st is October 29th. The point being, there's no use in talking about a digital release until that theatrical window is completed.
Warner Bros set Barbie on the same day as Oppenheimer with the original intention to destroy it's box office chances. Nolan knows and remembers that why on earth would he want to talk about Barbie when that was the original intention behind the move from WB. It wasn't until the internet made the meme out of the movie that WB went along with it all.
Grace if I'm correct it was part of Nolans deal with universal that Oppenheimer play theatrical for 100 days minimum. That is likely why we don't have word of on Oppenheimer digital release date
Scarlett is a big name, she has the money and the attorneys to fight for her share of money, but bonnie is only known for playing the nun though, so I kinda feel bad for her. Wish she could get the money she deserves.
Why the heck should Nolan talk about Barbie? Why must anyone insist that Nolan acknowledge a film that he just might not be interested in? I believe it's time we give that a rest, don't you think?
She thinks he should acknowledge how the Barbenheimer effect helped their profits instead of acting like a couple hundred million weren't directly because of Barbie
@nailinthefashion This happens often with movies. Not sure I've heard of any other directors doing this primarily because there's no concrete data beyond speculation and assumptions. Can't imagine directors being required to acknowledge something like this. Overseas revenue is the reverse. (BTW enjoyed both movies.)
Yes, it's time to give it a rest. We got two great movies. The crews who worked on both movies brought their "A" game. Time to celebrate their contributions and appreciate their hard work and effort. Not understanding the gaslighting and divisiveness.

4:05 It is true that to break into the industry you could either make an indie/awards bait-y film or you can make a horror film. However, the only problem with horror is that those in the industry tend to pigeonhole the filmmakers and keep them in the horror genre and not let them branch off into other genres.
I don't think Grace is going to like it. She hates seeing women suffering and being "saved" by a man, so I bet she would absolutely hate the Nami storyline; especially since Nami didn't get her revenge herself.
I disagree, Luffy has Mr fantastic powers from fantastic four, she will love the joker character, and mihawke as well. This is something she will enjoy. I did not know about one piece before seeing this, and no homework is required to enjoy this.
I wanna see the FNAF movie in theaters. It looks fairly faithful to the original game. As it should. The game's creator has been very involved with this film.

I definitely can’t wait to see it. I hope they keep getting better because the Nun is a great character and should be a modern horror icon. They just need to get the stories right.

The funny part is that Jawan only released in 800 theatres and Greek Wedding 3 released in almost 3500 theatres and yet both are right next to each other in the box office lol😂
Exactly, money is money, it does not matter who is going to see a movie, or the 4 cuadrant or whatever bs. What matters is that people show up and make a movie profitable.
I still believe Hollywood make their own issues. If they hold off with digital and streaming releases so soon, people will once again get used to watch movies in cinemas…

Yes, that's what i like, a good scary but not too too scary of a movie. I d9nt wanna be kept up for 3 weeks man... Just gimme a really good story and some crazy spooky suspense and creepy scares. I can only take but so much, lol. The Conjuring franchise is my jam.
The Ezra effect was real! They really messed up. I don't see how DC can recover the Flash property without an off screen swap. I don't see Gunn liking that tho

@@nailinthefashion No not officially, I think because WB knew that announcing it would hurt Flash’ chances of making money even more (because it is admitting it will not be in the new DC continuity, so even more people would think “why bother to go see this”). They cut the ties with all other DCEU actors (at least in their respective character roles), so keeping Ezra made no sense, also for being a big liability for being seriously mentally ill and toxic and violent (even if not on set). People seem to have spoken with their wallets. So there’s just no way WB will continue. To be honest I don’t have much faith in the new DCU; these movies are so expensive and so many big movies have been bombs lately and the big interest in superhero movies seems to be mostly gone with only a small exception here and there. I’m not even sure if the MCU will continue as planned or will be heavily retooled.
Directors are never expected to promote other movies so i don’t get why people want Christopher Nolan to go out of his way to promote a much weaker film

There is a growth as many indians are going to USA & apart for South Asians people who regularly watch indian films, the non indians too are taking interest in indian Cinema, which is a really good thing. People seems to only watch BIG movies in BIG numbers in the theatres, like the Marvel movies or movies that generate phenomenal hype on social media like Barbenheimer.

Why are you constantly trying to create drama between Christopher Nolan and Barbie? There isn't any. Why would he publicly say anything about Barbie? It's irrelevant whether he likes the movie or not. I'm sure he is thrilled with how Oppenheimer has done. I guess having drama is better for your viewing figures. Doesn't reflect well on you.
Grace suggest snack/dessert: Mango parfait 3 mangos and 1/4 cup of orange juice purée to apple sauce consistency. Slice strawberries and kiwis. Layer in a glass mango purée, then slice strawberries, more mango purée, then slice kiwi, repeat layering until glass is full. Chill over night (a very important step). It is as perfect dessert-I am not certain if this counts as sugar since it is natural fruit sugars.

I'm bummed that Red, White and Royal Blue isn't on any chart. Everyone's been talking about it and it even made some headlines about how it was the no. 1 movie on Prime worldwide. I loved it so much, I wanted to see it do well.
It's not written well enough to be a true mainstream rom com on top of it having generically attractive white guys as the leads. I see why it's an instant cult classic but as a queer bi dude I don't detect anything particularly alluring about it. Bottoms has that oomph, that it factor, so I'm just pleased to finally see more than one queer film to choose from simultaneously. We're almost at a great saturation point, I wanna see more scifi and fantasy stuff though. Nimona scratched an itch I didn't know was there

Wednesday was a new series, but with a very well known and popular character. One Piece had a lot of audience to gain and a lot going against it from being a live action anime adaptation.

I saw Barbie last week. I can't believe anyone would ever think that it could be a best picture nominee. It felt like a long SNL skit. All the funny parts were shown in previews and clips involved in the marketing. I think the marketing people are the ones that should get the Academy Award.
Barbie will surely do well on digital. Not only might there still be people who haven’t seen it yet, but also, I feel like rewatching a film you saw in cinemas from the comfort of your own home is like seeing it for the first time again (still haven’t watched The Little Mermaid on Disney+ - I’ve been busy and I think a double feature with both the original and the remake would be lovely - but I did love that movie. And I’m excited for Elemental! I’ll definitely see if I have time to rewatch it on Wednesday). I’m anticipating awards season earlier than I ever have since it might be the first time there are two Best Picture nominees I’ve actually seen... or maybe even one. I’m not really sure. But you know which two I’m referring to. 🙃 Also, learning from you that Keanu Reeves loves motorcycles made me smile, thinking of his Toy Story character. It’s always a pleasure to watch Movie Math. ☺️
