A thorough investigation into the origins and effect the Nutbush Dance has had on Australian culture. Wriiten and directed by Myles Davies #music #musichistory #nutbush #nutbushdance #investigation
Nice work Myles - The Nutbush dance (Maddison) is one of my most popular RU-vid videos - I enjoyed this video, a well researched clip. I actually was interviewed on 60 minutes about the 50th Anniversary of the Dance. Then 2 days later Tina passed away!!! I teach the turn to the left, but there are lots of people that turn to the right - I see the Maddison vision you showed had them turning to the right. I'm soooo confused, Crikey!!! if that's the biggest stress in my life I'll take it! Keep up the good work.
University of South Australia sociologist Jon Stratton said instructions for the Nutbush were distributed to teacher training institutions as a teaching aid in 1975. "Teachers were concerned to get some dance that school kids … would find interesting and want to do," Professor Stratton said. "Dances have been used for years as part of physical education and creative arts and it was in that context that the Nutbush was quite literally invented.
A Nun in a Catholic school introduced it to exercise the students in the 1970s. I guess to make PE more fun and for everyone to join in. Thats what I was told back in the1980s..
