This song was done on the Jerry Reed show in 1992. It was the Oaks first public appearance & these 4 didn't sing together again for the next 7 years because of contract disputes.
Richard Haire Willie Lee was voted off as the Oaks’ baritone back around the early ‘80s because of his attitude and lack of enthusiasm and involvement for the group that was starting to effect the others. He was replaced by Steve Sanders for a couple of years and Steve had personal issues in his own life and left the Oaks just before a performance later that night. If I recall correctly, Duane’s brother or cousin had to sing Steve’s parts for that show and actually didn’t do too bad considering he was only part of the band. After that show, each of the Oaks kept running into Willie Lee several different times and felt it was God trying to get them back together, so they invited Willie back and he accepted. Willie Lee, Duane, Joe and Richard have been together ever since.
@@molonlabe9785 William Lee left at the end of 1987 ... and returned Dec. 31, 1995 / Jan. 1, 1996 .... so, Steve "sang" with them for 8 years (was in the band prior to that) .... The person that filled in for Steve when he unexpectedly left the group was Duane's son, Dee. Also, William Lee has "never" gone by "Willie" ;-)
@@Banditz71 they may be referring to Willie Wynn a tenor , who did sing with them for many years when they sang christian before the cross over, he left the group & then formed willie wynn and the tennesseans
@@Arabella--Leigh He was referring to William Lee as "Willie Lee" ... I was just informing him that William Lee Golden has never gone by "Willie". And yes, I'm familiar with Willie Wynn, who left the group in 1973 when Joe arrived ... everything they are talking about was well after Willie Wynn's time. It's obvious both Al and Molon have their "facts" a bit twisted around. ;-)
