I think AIB will keep the PowerPoint sub-community alive a little bit longer considering It's probably the biggest object show we've had in like 2-3 years (I mean episode 1 has a million views). Granted AIB's animation is of such a high standard that It's hard to classify it as a powerpoint show at all so there's that to consider.
This is an incredibly well thought out video about the OSC, and I definitely agree with the eras you have come up with! It's been an incredible honour to be part of this community, let alone for this long. Your message at the end certainly speaks to a lot of us who have been here for a long time, that includes me as well. I think that's something truly special to take away as more of us spend more time in a community and we see each other grow up and face new challenges. Thank you for this retrospective video!
And now we're in the holiday object show era, where shows like The Christmasly Object Show, The Lovely Object Show, and The Almost Valentinesly Object Show exist with the sole purpose of releasing a new episode once a year. However, they all have a small number of contestants, ranging from 5-8 people. Man by the end of 2022 we're gonna have an object show for every holiday of the year
I honestly miss a lot of old powerpoint object shows.. even though I wasn't there during it's prime it's still kind of sad to look through all of the lost and abandoned object shows in general. As of now the only ongoing powerpoint object show I can think of is AIB, and it's kind of cool in a way. Like the last remaining kind of an almost-extinct species of object shows.
Im proud to be one of those people that got to be in the first era of the ocs This video really made me think how far we’ve come I remember ALL of those freaking object shows
I watched object shows in 2012 when I was around 4-6 years old, left around 2019, and the REjoined around a month ago. I’m happy I knew about it from near the very beginning, but I feel like I missed out a lot.
I discovered BFDI in 2013 after RU-vid kept shoving it onto my recommended, and I still enjoy it even after a whole decade. I’ve never really interacted that much with the community, but object shows have made such a huge impact on me in my life and I couldn’t be happier to be a part of it and watch it grow over the years! :)
I joined around that time too. Rejoined a month or so ago after leaving for a couple years before. I’m happy to see it’s more popular than ever, but I’m also overwhelmed by how much I’ve missed from 2020-present.
You NEED to make more videos like this, this is actually super well done! I joined during the Powerpoint era and almost every single powerpoint show makes me nostalgic lol
I joined at the beginning of the bfdia pause era and left before idfb came out. I'm not in the community anymore but it's still fun to see what the community is up to every once in a while from an outsider's perspective
Honestly, most object shows, like BFDI, would probably make people get inspired by this idea. Some have the same animation, some are different. Object shows are mostly made in Sony Vegas or Adobe Animate, but some animators wanted their show to be low key, because storyboard, voice acting, and making the episode are hard parts of the episode. The creators work hard on their show, but some get cancelled, because the creator doesn’t want to continue them. IMAO, some shows are different from each other.
I literally watched the first episode of bfdi in 2016 and binged the whole thing later, when I then found out about II I was really confused why their was this fan made version, but watched it anyway because I was really into bfdi. Now I'm just now finding out this is it's whole genre, and even has a whole damn community. As someone who's known about bfdi for years, it's kinda mind blowing
Me personally I joined during the PowerPoint era and I have a lot good memories of PowerPoint object shows like twisted turns or article insanity, despite the decline of PowerPoint shows i still hella respect all the PowerPoint shows still going.
I must admit, this is quite far one of the most recent professional videos I've seen in the object show community. This is amazing! Of course I joined the community in 2012 (literally ten years) and everything you said about every year (or in this case, era) is accurate.
i've been here since the tail end of the BFDIA Great Hiatus™ (ii s2e10 was the first major release i was here for) and although i've mostly detached myself from the osc after 2020 or so, mostly after bfb post-split being less memorable for me and also me having much higher standards nowadays, i've come back after bingeing II s3 about to fall into a new rabbit hole of object shows. glad that the object show community is more than alive today!
2012 - 2016 is in my opinion one of the best eras for Object Shows (probably because that’s when I started), but we have to give props to Object Redundancy because it tries to make an object show for adults (of which kids watched because the format is an Object show, which had been around before it’s creation as a kids thing). It’s 10 year anniversary is next year, and I’d hope to see something from them.
i joined during the BFB + Intro trends era, and i have been in the osc for over 3 years now, its literally CRAZYYYY im very glad to have met so many ppl who are artistic, nice, friendly, and entertaining to be around :D
I remember that I started to watch BFDI on 2015, months later Inanimate Insanity, and then some other shows. On 2016 I took a hiatus, and on 2017 I came back to watch them. Since then I didn't stop to watch them, there were a lot of new shows and on 2020, I started to upload videos. The OSC is interesting and funny, I am happy to be part of it :)
It's so odd to think about how far the community has gone, and I can't believe that I made my youtube channel and posted the first episode of my show during the BFDIA-Pause and Powerpoint Era. It's weird to think about.
Oh, thank you so much for this video, it really helped me, because it's almost a year that I'm in this community. I really like the object shows, this is a very interesting phenomenon on RU-vid, but unfortunately even this year I still know too little about it... However, I'm fixing it. Learning something new about this community and getting to know new shows is very exciting, like their history is already 12 years long, wow! But unfortunately, I have a feeling I got to know this too late. Although, even if it is, I will still hope that this community will flourish for many years to come, and new shows will be no less interesting!
Haha nice. I didn't know so many people joined in its newer years - I was introduced to it way back at a friends' house at around BFDIA's releases. So happy to see that the community has grown so much.
one of the things i love about this community is how fast it evolves into new eras. i joined around 2018 (right when bfb 13 was the funniest joke ever) and i felt like i had missed out on most of the community. but now, even though i've barely been around for a third of it, i've still seen many revelations and amazing things in the osc.
Even if I've only been in the OSC for half it's run now, (six years) I've made so many memories here that will stick with me for the rest of my life and I feel glad to be part of such a wonderful community!
I've been in the community since 2012 so almost 10 years! It's crazy how much it's evolved and changed, almost to an unrecognizable point for me in some areas. I wasn't very active in it for a couple years at a time but always watched shows when they came out. But to me, the powerpoint and camp era still feels very recent haha but I guess that makes sense since I'm completely out of the loop with the timed era stuff and a lot of the newer popular shows that have come out. I thought my time in this community was over but I've recently started a show again and I'm excited to be apart of it for more years to come! Great video by the way!
I joined the OSC when I watched BFDI 14 back in December 2018. It felt nostalgic even though I had never seen it before. I was hooked and proceeded to watch the whole series, I then discovered Bfdi Weekly and Inanimate Insanity. Bfb 13 was taking a while to release so I took a break from Object Shows until in July 2019 when I heard that episode 13 was coming out soon and was back into the OSC and discovered even more classics. Now I am 13 years old and currently working on my own object show and I’m really impressed with how far this community has gotten! It’s insane that two young twins managed to start an entire community filled with thousands of shows and people. Thank you Cary and Michael as well as everyone who read this long comment. (Unpopular Opinion ,but I really liked Post-Split)
I joined the OSC around 2016-17 so it's really awesome to see all the phases I missed, and how they impacted what we have now! Can't wait to see what's next in this community.
I joined around BFB 20 to BFB 21 came out as it was all over my recommended so I decided to watch it, I watched BFB 20 and now it is considered one of my fav BFDI episode just for nostalgia sake
I’m so glad to see that people still remember Object Crossovers. I was one of the contestants in that camp too! I played as Lighter and the reason why I played a hated character like him was so I could give him a shot at redemption and show that even the worst people can change.
11:11 heyup, golden era viewer here. looking back, bfdi and inanimate insanity were key factors to my childhood. as i had discovered them even before graduating the fifth grade. the series were so memorable that it shaped me into the person i am today. this video was incredibly made to signify the key aspects of the osc from 2010 (maybe even earlier, given fireys comics) all the way to modern shows such as ONE. and it provides a good overview of the osc from its prime, to its pitfalls. and; you're very correct, 2010-2016 ogs are very hard to come by, especially ones who arent creators of shows themselves. anyways, lesson told. the osc has been a tremendous part of many peoples lives, either if they joined during the release stages of bfdi, or joining just last week. its certainly been a journey for me, seeing the community growing in ways and maturing their content. and i look forward to seeing more creators in the future taking their own creatives spin on the once traditional object shows.
2011 - 2013: *Golden age and glory days of BFDI object shows* and the first time I discovered and fell in absolutely love with BFDI and other object shows like Inanimate Insanity in 2012 when I was age 9 ( I left BFDI and the OSC accidentally by huge mistake around 2014 or 2015, most likely due to the BFDIA 6 hiatus that was potentially caused by the end of the mayan calendar from December 21st 2012, returned to the OSC in January 2021 ) 2020 - 2022: Might be the worst years of my beloved object show community but still lucky of still having great potential and has at least been very fortunate not becoming toxic like most fandoms on the internet these days... *2023 might be the last chance of redemption for the OSC object show community* My 9 year old self from 2012 and my 10 year old self from 2013 would be very sad to see what society and the internet would become over the next 10 years of the future, and especially sad that these terrible times are trying to harm my pure beloved object shows and BFDI... 😢😞
Glad to be here since 2014. Ever since 2014, I wanted to make a show of my own, and each time I tried and failed, I left, only to return a year later. This pattern continued for 7 years before I was able to finally settle down here. Even though I've joined other communities, like the Caretaker community, I found a way to bring the object show charm to it. It's mind-boggling to see how I went from just doodling in PowerPoint in Year 3, to running 2 shows of my own, in Year 10. Let's just say that if you want to do something, never give up on it. You'll succeed. Cheers guys! And here's hoping I'll stick around for whatever comes next! -BradyAUS
This is my past I joined 8 years ago and started making my show 3 years ago shows come and go but it happens the old shows up to 2012-2016 were like the bast
About the Out of this world shows thing, there is a show in development called A Celestial Skirmish, its a show hosted by Digital Hourglass and the contestants battle on each planet of the solar system with the prize being a diamond planet called 55 Cancri E
I actually started watching all the way back in 2012, as a small child! Episode 1 of BFDI was so fascinating to me, and I still love object shows to this day. The moment I saw IDFB in my recommended was unforgettable, lmao Well done on the video! :)
I joined in the 2020 era, i saw bfb 8 in my recommended and i enjoyed the feel of an object show. I watched every bfdi episode in 2 days and love object show more than ever.
I remember I joined the community by Open Source Objects. I'm pretty sure I saw Blob somewhere and because I found characters with dot eyes and no mouth cute I got curious, so I searched it and found OSO. I watched the episodes there where by that time and just didn't look more foward, but after a new episode came out I realized there where more shows simillar to it, so I searched which was the most popular one and continued with BFDI, which had already ended a few months ago (BFB 30) so I watched it entierly. After BFDI I watched ONE, which got me really interested in the community since I found out that object shows could be really really interesting, and after that I watched Inanimate Insanity, confirming that (II 2)
I joined at the end of the pause era while scrolling through jnj Channel after watching the scale of the universe, and I loved it. The second I watched IDFB, I wanted more. It was so good to see so many people making shows, getting inspired by this one source. I’ve been in for 5 years (6 in September) and it’s just so great to see how big this community has grown.
This community has made a big impact on my life, I got into animation and met a lot of cool people. So from the bottom of my heart thank you everyone. :)
I joined during the PowerPoint/camp era. (More specifically, 2015) I've seen quite alot of camps during my first years in the OSC. And I'm even making my own camp made with PowerPoint. It's called Object Crossings. And it's inspired by Object Crossovers. Because Object Crossovers was (and still kind of is) my favorite object camp of them all. Hopefully my camp will save the PowerPoint object shows. And if any of you who see this comment are interested in joining my camp, please let me know.
This video is definitely underrated. I joined around the BFDIA era but never got to vote on any episodes since never made a RU-vid channel. Glad I saw this video!
I joined the community since 2019,after I saw carykh video about JnJ hit 1B total views (back then I subscribed to carykh, never knew that channel also is the owner of JnJ since 2017 until 2019) I watched BFDI 1a as the first object show episode I watched, surprised? After that, I watched BFB post-spilt then II, then some older object shows. After BFB ends, I "left" the community in June-July 2021 due to thinking I watched too much. On August, I slowly rejoined the OSC. First object show after I rejoined the OSC is Chaotic Ambition (October 2021),then Burger Brawl (didn't watch it much),and now OSO.I'm thinking of making a new idea of object "show" inspired by Yekateria/ERK Novosti.
Im working on an object show with more than 100 characters throughout all the 3 seasons. BOTW (battlers of the wish) 3 seasons, 3 wishes for each. I cant post it right now, still gotta do more stuff for it (dont need to popularize any channel to get votes, i just use a wheel of contestants for eliminations, rejoins, debuts). And im too young so maybe like, 2026 or 2027 ill release the show?
Tbh most objectshows from PowerPoint was pretty good Article Insanity And Object Twoneverse Were AWSOME and them aib came in and sweeper the floor with them
I joined just before the BFDIA wait. I had from late 2013 to early 2017 of what I'd say were the golden age, as the main show was now Inanimate Insanity with BFDI seemingly gone for good. it Still had the most views, but left a giant power vacuum causing hundreds of amazing shows to sprout.
I joined the object show community in 2015. My 2nd grade friend group was partly created after we found out we call watches object shows. But them I left in 2020 when bfb ended and extraordinarily excellent entities both ended. Then I came back in 2022 when Inanimate insanity 3 came out.
I first discovered BFDI from peeking through my neighbor's phone. It was BFDIA 1 and it was AMAZING. I remembered everything - Donut's elimination, the spinning wheel, the giant bowl of Yoylestew, Yoyle seeds, Pin's voice, Puffball, Leafy dodging acid, everyone digging, even The Alliance. I have never interacted with the community other than watching object shows since 2021, but I still have a chance to join in and in fact, I've made a lot of ideas for object shows. Currently, I am developing a Filipino Object Show based on my school. Taos-puso akong nagpapasalamat sa itong community.
to the people that are telling me about AIB and the powerpoint sub-community not dying out just yet - i know, I'm a part of that subcommunity lmao. i forgot some details in the video (such as EEE and AIB) and i do apologize but just remember that the speculation part is only a speculation!! i think most of them will eventually happen but i don't think it'll be just yet :]
Another big one was mini shows, starting with BFB mini, and everyone wanted to make a mini version of their show like village of objects mini, burger brawl mini, etc.
I joined on February 29, 2020 My half year anniversary is coming up oh god Honestly this place improved my art a lot and changed me as a person so I'm really glad I've discovered this place
I joined during the BFDIA Pause era (Late 2015). I’m glad I found BFDI by chance because I most likely would’ve been a fan of Jake Paul or something. Also don’t forget mini shows!
I literally only joined the osc a few days ago, when I decided to start watching BFDI out of curiosity. And i actually liked it. I've been binging the rest of the seasons now, and I may possibly do the same with II next.
