WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY ADDED LAURENT TO HEROES ONE WEEK AFTER I MADE THIS VIDEO?! Someone at Intelligent Systems definitely watches this channel, I am convinced now
I think this was not a "IS forgot Laurent" problem, but rather IS (for some reason) does not like characters with glasses. We still haven't gotten a non-seasonal Ignaz and Hanneman as well as Yukimura from Fates are missing completely. Miriel was also pretty late joining Heroes. Nice coincidence though how they added Laurent shortly after your video^^
Yeah but Shez 200% deserves that as well as the alts they've been getting, I love them so much and they unironically became some of my favorite protagonists
Rare Laurent fan here. My Laurent had Gregor as his dad. The chaos of those supports was great. Gregor as a dad made him an absolute killer with Sol skill. Later playthroughs I made Gregor take a swordmaster detour and pass his astra to Laurent. Super deadly.
Also a Laurent fan here, Yeah, gameplay wise Laurent is pretty good- him having access to dark mage from the get go definitely helps him too. Don't have a favorite parent for him though, as I am not particularly invested in Miriel. for the last few years I've been giving all my CYL votes to Laurent to help him score higher potentially making it into FEH finally, but so far to no avail sadly. Personality wise, I think it's a shame that he's overlooked so much [with many thinking of him as a "miriel 2.0" (much like how many seem to think of Kjelle as a "sully 2.0") so they don't even check any of his supports (excluding the initial 2)] BUT I do kinda get it, on my first FE:A run I actually didn't recruit him because I didn't realize he was a playable character when I visited his village, so his design might be a bit too bland for some people. (not to mention his recruitment placing him inside a village and needing Chrom or Miriel to visit it definitely didn't do him any favours) Personally I think he has a lot of great supports, and they really show his differences to miriel- (whereas she is all about knowledge and doesn't understand emotions very much, he is much more people focused, tries to assist them and understands emotions well enough) thooough I feel like when people DO actually talk about his supports they usually default to "Laurent X Noire" with his... interesting dialogue in their (primarily S) supports.
Laurent was relatively decent, but it is understandable that he can be forgettable. He's easily the child unit that is the closest to an exact copy of their parent which definitely goes a long way towards explaining how little impact he leaves on most players.
I swear though, the decision to forcibly make Kellam the most forgettable character did pay off cause I forgot about his existence until I got to his part in the video lmfao
i think the funniest part of that aspect of his character is that they made him like that because the developers literally forgot to talk to him and completely missed him when they were testing the game...
yeah, when testing the game some developers didn't talk to kellam and recruit him on his chapter and they decided to make it a part of his character since he was so easy to miss@@artifact2835
@@artifact2835 yea, the chapter where you recruit him, a few developers literally didnt even see him and forgot to recruit him, so they made that a joke in the game
Ironically Rowan and Lianna were some of the only ones I did know, because warriors was my gateway into fire emblem. I'd played hyrule warriors and saw some guys playing fire emblem warriors before release and thought it looked cool and wanted to get into fire emblem, and that's how I ended up the huge fan I am today :D
I’ve heard about the mythical who started with FEW as their first Fire Emblem game, but never saw one before haha. Honestly it’s pretty interesting to hear how you started out in the series with one of the least likely ways to begin it. I’m personally a fan of the Warriors games and I was hopeful to see Rowan, Lianna, and maybe Darios and someone else come to Heroes, but it doesn’t seem likely at all anymore.
@@Yokokazuo it does seem a little unlikely unfortunately, maybe when they start running out of characters? But yeah! My first mainline fire emblem game after warriors was when three houses came out, and I really liked it and also played shadow dragon and new mystery of the emblem on my DS, then engage when it came out and I recently played fates as well! Still wanting to play a bunch of the other older games or finally play awakening :) Also fun fact I didn't know what FEH was for a while so when the book 4 trailer came out I thought it was a new fire emblem game and definitely was a little caught off guard by how wildly different it looked from other games >~>
I also had a similar story though for me I didn't get into fire emblem until three hopes was about to release, I bought three houses before hand because I was interested in the world and to be able to make jokes about being further in the game then my fire emblem fan friend who hadn't played the game despite buying it off work money years ago, I later played I'd say 1/3 into path of radiance and got to part 2 in three houses before eventually getting addicted to engage of wich I'm currently on a third playthrough on oops, I also haven't finished three hopes either ironically enough
For Three Houses, maybe Alois? A lot of people tend to forget he is recruitable because of the short two-chapter window (one in Crimson Flower!) by a time where most players have already fleshed out their armies and/or are getting tired of exploring the monastery AND are about to get Seteth who is much better than him. Also does anyone remember that you can play as Aelfric for like one DLC Chapter?
Oh, if Aelfric counts then definitely him. If not, then by default I'd say one of the characters who got cut as playable for Three Hopes. Alois and Gilbert are too memorable for different reasons, and Hanneman has his fans too so uhh... It's probably Cyril by default but even then, as far as unmemorable characters in FE go, he's doing pretty well compared to the others.
@@LechgangWhile Cyril didn't leave as big of an impression on me then almost every other character, I'm not sure he's really forgettable since he's pretty easy to recruit, then again, he has almost no story relevance so maybe...
13:25 okay the whiplash of seeing an spanish meme of 31 minutos of fire emblem, tellius and the dawn brigade make me burst out laughing. Gracias por la risa, la necesitaba.
I have seen people talk about the Engage DLC characters however I think Madeline will be the forgotten character. Nel and Nil are fell dragons and are the main focus of the DLC story, Zelestia is considered one of the best units in the game as well as a great unique class and Gregory is the soft boy version of Griss. Madeline doesn't have anything to stand out aside from her boss conversation with Marni.
Rip madeline, she's honestly one of my favorite units next to panette, gregory and rafal and gets mvp on almost every map on all 3 of the runs I have used her on
Sincerely the recruitable bosses in fates fit more in a trivia question with all the cast (including the non-playable ones). They are more unique looking einherjar rather then playable characters in there own right on the same brand of the Trial Maps only playable characters or the creature campaign units. However if we are including those guys, I must throw the hat to Hayden from FE8, how many people remember that the king of Frelia is playable in creature campaign? Edit note: He is actually so obscure that 9 hours in, no one corrected me that the king of Frelia is named Hayden and Halcyon is the former Duma priest in gaiden/Valentia
Rowan and Liana deserve so much better tbh. Like putting them each in Heroes would be so cool, especially if they had their upgraded class designs and stuff
The brother is Rowan. I only remember him because of that time he was poisoned and running out of time was actually risk for once. His sister on the other hand had less screen time and felt like a side character.
Fun fact. I am responsible for a vast majority of the information on the Hasha no Tsurugi characters wiki pages. Madeline is one my second favorite character in Engage next to Framme. And Nel's design is easily one of the best in the series. Fell Xenologue was a bad in terms of difficulty on higher difficulties but in terms of story it was a nice dark take on the world that I wish was actually lot more fleshed out. If Engage were to have gotten proper support, I would have liked for Fell Xenologue to get a longer campaign that would flesh out what the Alt Elyos was like and how it got to be the way it was.
I will say I think you were too hard on Bertram, recently as more people try to ironman PoR Japan's Maddening Mode, his map is becoming way more memorable for being genuinely one of the toughest maps in the game
Ngl I genuinely wasn't aware he had a reputation for that Btw, I don't mean to imply Renning is a bad character, what little he has is good but I still feel he lacks that REAL impact they intended him to have, and being added right before the Tower of Guidance doesn't do him any favors
I gotta give Lianna and Rowan credit for having one of my favorite movesets in FE Warriors and I used to really like them because they reminded me of Rin and Len (two Vocaloids) but that's also already kinda all I can say about them...
Still holding out hope that the Echoes DLC Cipher characters can be their own banner in heroes. I've been waiting since 2017 and I will continue until the game concludes.
The last 2 cipher ocs were supposed to be from Askr which makes me even sadder that they aren't in heroes yet. I will never stop hoping for a cipher character banner.
I remember *only* Lianna’s name from the warriors OCs, mostly because I thought it was super pretty and used some variations of it as my character name when playing Dragon Age a couple times. No recollection who her brother or dark-haired other guy from warriors are
@orionsadventure3511 I remember Rowan entirely because when playing through the story he just became so annoying with his obsession of knighthood. "Shut up Rowan" became a regular line I would say whenever he opened his mouth. So less so that he was famous in our eyes bit rather became infamous instead.
Fun fact that makes Laurent somewhat interesting: - According to his Support convos with Noire, especially his S-Support, it's shown he has some sort of humiliation fetish. It's *SO* funny that I usually pair them up In my playthroughs.
Bad call on claiming that Renning/Bertram are a total unknown when he has a whole major story section dedicated to him in Radiant Dawn and was one of Daein's Four Riders. Not only that, but when the Tellius games were relevant and Radiant Dawb hadn't come out yet there was a ton of fan speculation on Bertram actually being Renning, that and the true identity of the Black Knight were the biggest sources of series' wide fan discussion for several years.
For what I remember the Warrior protagonists are called Rowan and Lianne. From my point of view the most forgotten character in RD is Kyza. Edit: It turns out it's Lianna, but close enough
I will still argue Kyza stands out simply because they were the first Non-Binary character in FE and they got a bit of attention when they were added to Heroes
@@TheGameShelf I'm so desinteresed in heroes that I didn't know he was added, also at first I though the reason they refered to him as a girl in the first game was a mistranslation, not because he was not binary
I straight up completely forgot Hisame exists. I never actually used Hinata enough to get his paralogue and I never hear anyone talk about him. Like I actually knew most of the characters in this video, but you bamboozled me for a second with Hisame. Also I actually do remember the Warriors Lords, their names are Rowan and Liana. Do I also get bonus points for remembering that their signature weapons are called Enliron and Faccina?
I just watched this video after Fae Channel… and would you believe Laurent _just_ got added for Dec 7! Also apparently Nichol and Candace were both planned to be regular units (which is why they have crit cut-ins), but became capture units instead.
I had a dream a couple years ago that there was a rare chance that when you did an Awakening child’s paralogue you could get a shiny version of them like in Pokémon. You were also able to rename the children upon collection. In my dream I found my brother’s old ds where he’d gotten a shiny Laurent. The palette swap turned him green so he’d named him Green Boy Luigi. Granted, that’s what we call him now but it has made Laurent incredibly popular within my circle of FE players.
What the heck why is Valjean so cool? Why have I only now realized about his existence? (btw yes I can name the Warriors twins, those would be Yubello and Yuliya... wait that ain't right)
As someone who's read a bit of the FE6 manga, believe me when I say that the new characters do leave a big impression on you, especially Al, he's pretty damn memorable. Plus the manga itself is kinda insane in a good way, Eliwood is used a little bit more, we had a whole chapter or few about Lance and a new guy who was made to be his friend turned unfortunate enemy, Murdock being super strong, way more than what our pesky Clarine A support Armorslayer Rutger's can deal with, and A LOT of characters are merely cameos. It's a genuinely fun read...when you're able to find the book. But on a semi-related note, I didn't know there was a Thracia 776 manga until recently. With the first 2 chapters I read, it's pretty damn good. I'd say if you're able to find it to check it out.
I would like to mention the Spotpass characters. specifically Priam. with the Nintendo 3DS spotpass going away Youll never be able to get him in his base game again. which means the only way youll ever see him (unless we Get Fire Emblem: Shadows of the Reawakened or something) is in the Gatcha pool of Heroes
I only remember Rowan's name from the Fire Emblem Warriors protagonists. And that's only because his voice was so incredibly anyoing to me that I ended up remembering it
I scanned through all the comments checking if anyone mentioned my favourite FE character, since they were the only 3H playable unit not shown on screen. Jeritza is that forgotten.
The Cipher characters were the first set of characters I thought about when this topic was brought up. It's a shame too because I think some of them are really cool. Now they'll be forever lost in Cipher hell because that game is done.
I know this was about playable characters, but how many people remember the names of the original characters in Fire Emblem Warriors? I don't remember the main characters' mother. I can remember Darios (mostly because Xander Mobus) but not the rare protagonist parent that lives to the end of a Fire Emblem game?
"Is Laurent a good unit?" with just Lon'qu alone as his father, Laurent is one of the few units who can contribute a Vantage+Nosferatu playstyle to Awakening that isn't Robin & Morgan, and he has enough speed to actually make it work incredibly easily, remarkably early on, being consistent on both Hard and Lunatic with only minimal overall investment, but skyrockets with a little extra statboosters and a good support partner. He's very good, and highly overlooked. Also has a funny support with Noire. Give the nerd a shot.
Hello, I’m the one Laurent fan! It’s me! I actually considered marrying him in one of my playthroughs of Awakening, he’s a similar character to Miriel but with a more interesting and complex personality. What’s sort of tragic and funny is that Laurent was sent farther back in time than the other kids, so he had to live by himself for longer before they showed up. So even in his original game he has some trauma about being forgotten. :,) I do actually have friends who like the main characters of FE: Warriors, but I don’t know their names, she only calls them “the lemon royals.”
Absolutely crazy how quickly Engage and its characters fell off the radar after the utter cultural reset that was 3H and its cast. I swear I've seen like ten pieces of fanart for Engage and five of them were hentai but still can't escape 3H fan content
@@TheGameShelf Right 😭😭 Obviously there’s the lost meme potential in just having a story and cast that’s genuinely witty or layered enough that you have something to joke about but I think a lot of it was also lost without portraits. Idk who in their right mind made the decision to get rid of those!
The game wasn’t that good tbh. Now if you like it that’s fine but even games like fates was kept alive by the community with memes and stuff. The only thing we gotten from engage that stuck was toothpaste Chan for how stupid alear looked on first impression. Engage to be honest many felt it was meh(it shows due to the lack of engagement within the community and how the game fell off hard with a drop of 60% in sales… it doesn’t really stand out other than gameplay. It story was not that good characters were forgettable( they went way too hard with being tropes), vtuber artstyle was abit off putting, and word of mouth wasn’t that good. it also had some questionable choice they made like no new game+. For an anniversary game it ironically failed to engage both new and old fans. That’s why you mostly here about the other games instead of engage (heck even in heroes engage doesn’t have that many banners and they went back to promoting more 3H)
@@TheGameShelfeven fates despite being one of the most hated is still memorable with memes that happen during the time (lobster lord, Camilla, azura and the mysterious dancer, how everyone now has feet, Niles being gay or European etc) Engage all we got is toothpaste Chan and since the game is kinda of dead (you rarely here people talk about it for good reason there’s almost nothing to talk about within story, characters heck even shipping is bland. Heck we get more stuff from other fire emblem games in heroes they rarely put banner for engage characters despite them being the newest game (we recently got a banner where majority is 3H again) only thing people praise engage is the gameplay everything else just feel meh even the dlc (though I hate how they handled it)
About Laurent, I do remember hearing, his support with Nah being kind of wild. So in that way I remember him. I say heard, because I actually managed to forget about him in his own recruitment chapter and ended up never recruiting him, when i played awakening. So, you might have a point.
i may be the only one that likes rowan (warriors male protag) he unfortunatly was instantly hated on because of his anoying english voice, and for being boring, his sister lyana have the same problems but was forgiven and more popular because woman. But personally since i played with VO their voice never annoyed me, and i loved their gameplay, and i ended up liking rowan more by seeing the difference in treatment he got from the comunity compared to his sister
There is actually a character that's WAY more obscure than any of these His name is Milan and his only appearance is in one scene in bonus CD track based on a radio show adaptation of FE1 manga. He literally has one line of dialogue
Bertram did leave an impression on me back when I first played PoR and I remember the wild theories about him on fan forums until Radiant Dawn came out.
I do agree that it's hard to really pin down the least popular Engage character, since the game hasn't been out for too much, and something tells me (DLC excluded) that Bunet will be the most likely candidate. As a unit, he's not remarkable. Not bulky enough to take hits reliably, not strong enough to put out meaningful damage and an awful personal skill to boot. Add a very one-note personality to the frey and you've got yourself a character easily forgotten. Even certain earlier recruits stand out, despite some of them being outclassed by a different unit, like Lapis for example. Late recruits are also memorable all for their own reason. Lindon is the only recruitable unit who starts off as an enemy in his join map, Saphir is tedious to keep save from chapter 19's nonsense, and Mauvier and Veyle have a lot of presence throughout the story, and all of these four offer their own interesting, fun and unique quirks. If we do include DLC, then Madeline is the most likely pick. The fell twins are a major focus of the Fell Xenologue, Zelestia in terms of personality is an interesting spin on what would be a direct opposite of Zephia, not to mention most of us know a different reason why she catches other people's eyes, Gregory has a very distinct and, honestly, quite endearing personality, all while Madeline feels kind of... bland as a character? Don't get me wrong, her support conversations are also quite interesting, but I understand why people aren't really drawn to her as a character, as well as her bad dex and spd giving her a bad unit feel. Tl;dr: Bunet and, if we include DLC, Madeline are the two most likely characters that will be most forgotten, or at least that's how I see it.
Personally Madeline is my favourite, I find her occasional "slip ups" where she lets out that she does actually want praise adorable. I'm also just a sucker for the slight goth lolita vibes. As for her bad speed, I have her built so that she crits basically everything anyway. She doesn't need a second hit. I think she may have a SLIGHT edge up as time goes on based on being an Alt-Marnie. Since she was soooooo close to just being playable in the base game and that feeling of being robbed kinda lingers.
I don't know for sure, bunet is a bad unit wich typically makes units more memorable then if he was just all right, also his personality is unhinged like some of his dialog is so weird it's funny like asking to lick your bed sheets Madeline has horrible unit feel in the xenologue but in the main game she can actually become pretty absurd, like with the skill quick riposte and hit + along with a reclass to sword axe great knight she can become seth tier juggernaut, okay maybe not that broken since you still have to be scared of mages but for hardmode I can just put her in a group of physical enemies with a silver sword and she kills all of them on enemy phase though I get the feeling a lot of people try to put speed +5 and canter on her and then call her a bad unit because they don't know how to make use of her strenghts
I'll admit, the main reason I even remember Rowan and Lianna is because I thought their moveset in Warriors was one of the more fun ones, and I remember seeing a few videos about why specifically Rowan is the worst FE lord personality-wise. The fact that you can't even vote for them in CYL is absurd to me; it's like IS is trying to erase them from history. Personally I never minded either of them but that's mostly because, aside from Rowan going on in supports about how kings are cowards and he wants to be a knight instead so he can be on the front lines, both of them are just very bland from what I remember, which is very little because they're so forgettable; I could only tell you maybe one or two of Lianna's lines verbatim and zero of Rowan's, and I was one of the people who actually really liked Warriors too, if only for the gameplay and a few supports. Hopefully they get remembered by IS at some point but I'm not really counting on it unless they do make another FE Warriors game that mashes a bunch of games together, and even then I feel like we'd get new lords instead and only a brief mention of the Aytolis twins at best, or maybe an Aytolis-styled costume or something for the new lords if you have save data from the first game.
For Three Houses characters, there's one character that got snubbed, at least from FEH. Where's Thales? Kronya, Solon and Nemesis were added, and later on, they added Cornelia; and yet the leader of the Agarthans is nowhere to be seen.
The Laurent part aged worse than milk lmao. Btw the fell Xenologue characters are somewhat remembered in Twit... X, at least Nil and Rafal. To this day I see a lot of art of them as siblings of Alear and Veyle
You should've mentioned the generic maiden that Chrom can marry in Awakening. If Chrom's suitors are already married or never developed any supports with him, Chrom will marry some rando who uses the generic female NPC model. She isn't playable and that's probably why you didn't bother including her, but considering she can be Lucina's mother and appears in cutscenes I thought she was still noteworthy.
In my many playthroughs of awakening I accidentally skipped recruiting Laurent, it took 3 playthroughs to realize that I was supposed to go to a village on a chapter I almost always forget about after finishing.
dice has a kinda cool helmet, and ive seen more than 3 people mock belf specifically for being bland, ive never played thracia but i know marty for his incredible 0 base skill and speed, for what little it matters laurent is one of the better child units (and imo) his chapters one of my favorite in awakening, haitaka is also good on lunatic, and gazak was a meme to some level
From the games I have played so far, the great most of these seem understandable. The only ones I can say aren't forgettable for me is Lot from FE6 since that's the game I am playing right now and I just promoted him in Ch 17 (while Wade and Uglier got benched) and Laurent from Awakening because he was part of my main roster team, including my Streetpass team where I gave him Mire which he excellently used on my friend.
I'd say that the capturable units in Fates had potential to be some of the best written units in the series. Nichol and Candace have traces of them having supports and possibly even more than that which makes it so heart-breaking to me that it seemingly was scrapped for time. As a person whose been playing through all the games in order, the idea of capturing an actively hostile bad guy and slowly but surely convincing or bribing them to fight under MC's cause is amazing for unit reception. I was starting to get tired of so many "I'm actually not bad, I'm just being mislead" or "I'm bad but I have a tragic backstory" recruitable enemy units. It sucks theres no unique dialogue for bribing/convincing them as I really wanted to see Kumagera and Nichols reasoning for being convinced. Being able to use the capture function to get more antagonistic and outright bad people with little excuses is actually an amazing idea with a lot of potential to get the players invested in these characters so its super unfortunate these characters did not get supports to further flesh out their characters. Unlike the spotpass villain recruits in awakening which made no sense as they happened at the fuckin end of the game, since Fates lets you get these guys early and most of them arent too bad as long as you do their chapters with minimal casualities via good play, you can justify having them without the player feeling like its insane we spared them. Like Nichol has definitely killed people before, but since I got to him before any villagers died in his chapter (you can still capture him even if they did), it felt like it was okay to capture him as he hadn't done anything too bad yet. I'd love for this mechanic to come back to further allow players to give some enemies a second chance. It always feels weird how we HAVE to kill characters who seem like they can be convinced to our side if we just like, knocked them out and took them with us to reason with them.
Ah yes the Lemon Lord, Rowan and Lianna. I know them because I used them in some Fire Emblem Trivia before. Otherwise, I didn’t even finish thier game so I would’ve probably forgotten them
I actually love the Winds and Fell Dragon twins given how their stories was so well made for me. Also, Warriors being mentioned makes me happy! The twins and Darios deserve more love. 💙
No one in the comments has mentioned, nor in the Tellius section, but Soan, one of Ashera's 3 Heroes alongside Altina and Dheginsea. Soan is seen as the giant green lion that Altina rides on in that one CG and never again, but it's canon in Tellius lore that he became the 2nd king of Begnion after Altina (English RD has a mistranslation saying 2nd king of Gallia). He's also the direct ancestor of Stefan. Funny thing is he only has that CG, a cipher card, and a FEH Meet the Heroes' doodle, and we only ever see him as a giant green lion. Would love to see him added to FEH one day to get a human design, I imagine he would look a lot like Stefan considering the direct ancestry.
@@StomachPlug”at once!!” Was a meme in the Jelloapocalypse playthrough cause it’s his first and last line in the two games and pretty much summarizes the depths of his character 😅
i am a big fan of the fell xenology and wrote a lot of analysing articles about it, i even tried to make some fan art and fanfic. Fell Xenologue is amazing in both gameplay and the story. hope you'll give it a try!
the reason why people forget about them is probably how late the released wave 4. i didn't play it myself until last month when my friend who is a engage fan strongly suggested me to give it a try.
Funnily enough, I remember a lot of people mentioning that Charlot is better than coirpe because he comes with a berserk staff instead, which is a wild reward- but yeah most replacements are not mentioned
I love the sable knights Knew them from playing the bs remade maps in new mystery. Because it was badass playing as camus with gradivus on hand. Didn't beat the chapter nor the game until much later though
On the GBA era, I think from the Sacred Stones, Franz Is often overlooked. In due because he's basically Diet Seth, but he has some very nice supports.
I'd say Treck and Garret are pretty forgettable from Binding Blade; maybe you excluded them on accident since they're THAT forgettable. Either way, I really liked this video, and I look forward to more from you! You seem hella cool, and I like coming across FE content creators that have a strong passion for the franchise and the quality of their videos. Te dejo mi like y mi suscripción, vato.
Unironically, I was wishing for Bertram being a GHB for the next Tellius banner lul. And yes, I knew his secret identity and want also this variant in FEH at some point in some form. Especially after Lucia, Geoffrey and Bastian are now in and Elincia got some love this year too.
