ahahah I was the bourasque of the first game (usernameHed), I did see the Obsidian and thought: oh may be it's quickybaby ? but seeing that later was really funny to see :D thanks for carrying me in this corridor! I managed to made my second mark of excellence later that night with a 11k combined spot + damage

If this was a paid premium, it would probably have 160 hull armor, no weakpoints, 250 turret armor, go 50-60, with maybe ~280 premium pen. Oh well, it's free, right?

I am a completely free to play player and have grinded for quite a long time and got it without spending any money at all (buying the keys or whatever they are called) i do have a substantial amount of premiums (or reward tanks if you would like to call them that) and decided to try to get this vehicle mostly because, hey free premium x). I do agree that it isn't the worst thing you'll ever get, nor is it the best thing you can get. However, considering that you can get it without having to complete fairly impossible missions, such as in the mission marathons, and just require a bit of grinding, i find it worthy of my time. Thank you QB for the video. Good stuff as always

Just going to point out that reward tanks and premium tanks are two separate classifications of tank. Premium tanks, such as the Obsidian, make bonus credits and crew training whereas reward vehicles, such as all of the battle pass token tanks or campaign mission tanks, only provide crew training.

Yes, your deduction of this tank was accurate during the second game: if you know your maps, know your tank, the enemy drives out in front, the enemy ignores you and the enemy doesn't fire gold, you can do well in this tank. Props to another spot-on depiction of what to expect while playing in a typical game with typical enemies.

Well the tank isnt good thats why. When games are 3-5min long in average, good luck doing anything with a tank that cant do 40km/h. And if you have any tier 8 prem tanks you know that you have 80% +2 mm, every tier 9-10 heavy will drive past you

This thing is the beer bellied big brother of the t-34, and I love it. I’ve been running it with grousers in the mobility slot with a bounty turbo and bounty rammer.

Seems like this style of gameplay can be massively bettered by the recently buffed Turtle1 which can be tuned to an insane 4k dpm, has much better gun dep, plays the hull-down game very strongly and if you use a bounty or bond turbo isn't going to feel much slower than this Obsidian for all of those superiorities. The reason I mention the Turtle1 is it pops up on the weekly tanks for gold offer which actually does offer a few really strong tanks so if you like the Obsidians style of play, take a good look at that Turtle1 whenever it's featured for gold.

I played this thing a few times last night. It's surprisingly durable. ROF on the gun is decent. Though even with turbocharger it's a slow med. Overall, I've enjoyed it. The wheels on front are bizarre.

AFAIK All you would need is enough penetration to go through the spaced armour, then the hull, as spaced armour can't ricochet.

@@QuickyBabyTV You're wrong on that front. Spaced armor can ricochet. Maybe they changed the mechanics of the game somewhere along the way but spaced armor can ricochet in modern versions.

I tested this today and@@fili0938 you're right, spaced armour can ricochet at 70 degrees, I'll have to check the HEAT interaction but you've made a good point! It's a really bizarre situation where the spaced armour is better than the underlying hull! Thanks for making the point.

A little tip I discovered: On tanks that struggle to reach their top speed (IS-7, Kranvagn, and this tank), the Grousers equipment seems to help the acceleration better than the Turbo. But when the tank can reach it’s top speed easily, Turbo helps the acceleration better.

Use grousers in any case. Even with excellent crew, turbo gives only a slight advantage on hard terrain, while grousers make it still better on medium and soft terrain. And it's also going to always turn faster with grousers

I saw one in a random battle on the first day of the event. He was killed immediately which leads me to believe it can be bought (I have not bothered to check) or he used a boosting company. No, he was not a CC. He drove out into the open and got hit by my arty and several of my team mates while stunned. Seems like a great city tank.

Unless I'm mistaken the "wheels" on the front are minerollers. Wouldn't make sense for them to rotate when you stop as they are mechanized.

In this particular design, I'm pretty sure the rollers were coupled to the drive wheels. (The TITT Rozanov is a real design, though it was never built.)

I got it, I set it up for scouting and it makes money. I've yet to have a MM where it's 8s and lower. Most of them have been 10s. If you have support and work it's low profile you'll rake in some credits as an average player.

If you have a good crew but don't use premium consumable, should I still use grousers over a turbo? Also, I wonder if an exhaust/CVS/optics build would make this tank a super stealthy scout? It's camo is amazing for a medium tank, at least.

@@csh5414 It has 26% camo while moving with just BIA and camo crew skills. With an exhaust, could have almost as much camo as some of the worst camo light tanks at tier 8. Would never outspot the good LTs, but it is just an idea getting thrown out there.

u mean those numbers on the side? That's from WG, was introduced in the latest patch. However those numbers don't show the number of games played, those are ranks, which go up to 350, and to reach 350 you need to have played several thousand battles in this vehicle, I guess.

Funny enough while the actual side armor is flat it's spaced armor is angled enough to allow ricochets from even 130mm guns. So the only relyable spot to pen in that position is it's around its frontal drivewheel. Now if your enemy is shooting HEAT it becomes even more difficult.

When I started playing the mode as soon as the servers came back up, I played for 8 hours straight and got to 11 out of 15 reels. Only 3 hours of gameplay later I got the tank in less than 24 hours

Removing the several tonnes of mine rollers might help with the mobility. There is a reason why in the real world you only attach mine rollers and ploughs when you need them.

They look more like ditch/trench crossing rollers, like what was on the front of M3 Scout car and Halftracks. That way the extended front won't dig into the opposite side of the trench/ditch.

the tank feels like either a nerfed kpz 07rh or a nerfed lt432. it's soft stats gunhandling and mobility is a really a deal breaker for me. i love the mobility of the kpz, and the good heat rounds, paired with good enough, or rather expected armor. to be honest, the type 59 feels like a much better tank at the same br, somewhat similar dpm, better gunhandling, muuuuch better mobility, similar maybe even better armor, and much better camo

It's pretty much a Kpz 07 RH that trades away all the mobility to get some decent armor. Whether that's a good trade? I'm inclined to say no. Because while the Kpz's armor *is* tissue paper and thus it can't always utilize its DPM without getting nuked in response, it can still get into good positions *so* much faster than would ever be possible in the TITT.

@@derrickstorm6976 ⁠first of all the type 59 has 1.9 second aim time 0.34 base accuracy, and wayyyy better soft stats on gunhandling. Running my type 59 i have basically near zero aimtime with a bounty vent, bounty rammer and bounty stabiliser. To top it off it bombs around at 60kph easily with an aced crew, and has only +1 matchmaker. Ohh and the type 59 has more gundepression, better gold rounds and a much stronger turret with upwards of 300mm of armor with minor weakpoints

This tank looks like it should be able to use certain enemy tanks as ramps. No collision, you literally just drive on top of them.

Thanks good review ... I don't think the number thing is that big of deal.. if one of the tanks is showing say a 320 gold badge, it doesn't mean there a Great player (in general) just that they do pretty well in that tank.. as you could see QB is a uni-com BUT in that tank he was at 1 then moved to 7 after a couple 3 games.. So it don't seem to work like XVM did.. and Anonymous was added more to hide names so streamers n RU-vid people went getting Arty non-stop for the whole game to get the Uni-com/Streamer etc. Just my 2c Thanks Video was helpful !

The grousers actually makes you faster on medium then the turbo does. I'm gonna try Grousers, Rammer, Turbo on mine to be honest, being able to hit 47 on medium seems like it would compliment the tanks DPM pretty well for getting into a decent position.

then you suck lol. Try getting as much dmg as possible during the different phases, I think the total damage done decides what place you end up. I get consistently first place in normal difficulty which gets me 8 keys every time.

make sure when you view tank armor in tanks gg, zoom out and view it from a long distance instead of only from close range, since most shots are from mid to long range, and armor angles are much weaker when you view them from up close like you do. Also whenever armor is “overmatched” because the caliber is three times the size of the armor impacted, it’s not a garanteed penetration since that’s not how it’s works but rather is just reduces the effective angle of the armor significantly more than the caliber being double the size of the thickness, so that 45mm angled spaced armor on the sides can lower the penetration enough that 120mm+ calibers can’t penetrate the 40mm of side armor behind them.

With overangle, I average 2-3k blocked damage with it...Many guys don't like it, but I dominate with it against most tier VIII heavies. And never snipe, just go agressive with it, or play the "hero" role :D

So it’s t-54 mod1 with a much better gun. The power creep on the mod1 continues. Though maybe it’s armor is actually worse.

I don't understand the word 'crowsers', 'krowsers', 'crothers' he is recommending for people to use instead of turbo, when not using premium equipment and/or having bad crews. I tried to google, but nothing comes out for such words.

The Obsidian is just next inline to pull in all the 45%ers that keep thinking it’s the tank that makes the all difference. WG has it backwards - they should be pushing crew training, map training, double-bushing, the effectiveness of shells at distance, PLATOONS, patience, how to use terrain, why rushing through tiers is bad, why tier 10 is best left to the gaming animals.

See i paid 50$ cause i hate events and was one of the first people to get it im sure cause when i got it a qued it and didnt see one for hours later and tbh it may look back but its fucking interesting and very fun to play
