We need to stop pollution at the source - A large amount is from developing areas with poor waste management - Also shipping companies dropping entire containers and not being held accountable due to international waters is a source If we addressed both of these problems with stronger international shipping accountability laws and just by assisting developing areas out of poverty so they can afford the waste management systems we take for granted while we reduce the cost of entry to waste management systems with new concepts and ideas, we would solve the problem by pushing ocean pollution into the net negatives.

I’m thrilled that someone is actually tackling the Pacific Ocean garbage dump. Unfortunately there is more than one. I am not 100% sure but I believe that each ocean contains at least one huge dump in their areas. Like I said, the Atlantic Ocean has one in the northern sections and one in the southern portion . These dumps are formed by the currents that in total form a type of circle. You can have one current going north along the coast, that one generally dumps its collections into an eastern flowing going eastward until it hooks up with a southern flowing current. This then picks up deposits that the north and east currents have caught in their currents and finally the southern dumps almost every thing that it has collected into the western current. This goes on an on until all of the things that were gathered and these keep going in a” circle “ and eventually into a type of centralized location. Think of the currents as a spiral, each pass getting all of its contents into the middle. As I stated earlier. I believe that all of the oceans have at least one dump in their confines.

If we just keep cleaning it up, it will continue to find its way into the waterways and our bodies. We need to stop using plastic for much of our production if we really want to see a change. But people have gotten too comfortable with the ease of their lives to want that. Most of the more severe illnesses happen to people by surprise, unexpectantly, impacting first in the brain, then in the corresponding organ which that part of the brain controls. The end of WWI had absolutely everything to do with the Flu and lung TB outbreak that occurred killing millions. In nature, the biological conflict linked with a territorial fear (just what it means-a fear in your territory, your home, your community, etc.) is a widening of the bronchia (tissue loss). Your body attempts to widen your bronchia in order to allow more air into your lungs to give you more strength and energy to fight to keep your territory safe. Stay with me.......The biological conflict linked with a death fright impacts the lungs. The lungs attempt to grow larger in order to allow more air in because breath equals life, as we all know. No breath equals death. While you are in the fear or death fright conflict, you notice no symptoms of “disease”, except you have cold hands, cold feet, you can’t sleep, you awaken at 3 AM every night, you have little appetite. During the WW1, millions of people were in fear of the bombing of their homes and cities where the war was most active. Fearing for their lives, their loved ones in the war, their ability to survive. The food in the stores was sparse due to shortages. This lasted for 4 long years! The longer the conflict, the worse the healing phase. Within 2 weeks of the German Chancellor announcing the end of WWI, these millions of people ALL went into the healing phase all at the same time. It is during the healing phase that you experience symptoms of illness! What is the healing phase of the bronchia widening? Severe bronchitis, pneumonia. The body attempts to refill this lost tissue and you experience inflammation, fever, coughing, body aches, fatigue, etc. What is the healing phase of the extra lung tissue that grew? Decomposing of the tissue by TB bacteria and fungi. The symptoms of this healing phase are: severe coughing up of blood and tissue, fever, inflammation, severe mucous, body aches, fatigue. During this decomposing of the extra tissue (tumor), the body expels a lot of protein, and without replenishment, severe protein loss can result in death. Antibiotics did not exist yet. If TB bacteria does not exist in a person or they have been vaccinated against TB (big mistake), then the tumor will simply encapsulate and become dormant and not harm you. Who died during the Spanish Flu? Mainly the poor who could not afford to buy meat and proper nourishment, and the people who were directly impacted by the bombings and destruction of their homes. Millions of people suffered fear and death frights during the fighting of WWI, and millions of people all went into healing at the end of it. Not everyone was affected because not everyone suffered the same way. It’s not a “flu”, it’s not something you “catch”. You do not “catch” disease from others. A lie told for 100 years never becomes the truth. It’s biological, meaningful, and unavoidable. One hundred years later, a Fear Campaign begins, using the media to spread it......

It's really a great effort for cleaning oceans. For the last few years, I have been working onboard offshore vessels. I have seen how people dump their garbage directly overboard. It's good to see someone is taking pain and putting efforts in cleaning our oceans.
@sgshaday

Yeah. And that's bad. But there is a reality to this where most of the plastic comes from the nets from fishing industries. So I really wonder how we'll deal with that. I know there are worms that eat through plastic and there are labs working on substances that degrade plastic faster. So... A lot of interesting things happening.

Some obvious improvements - 1.) Build a plastic processing centre on a floating barge so that the boats don't need to go to the mainland so often. 2.) build a floating solar array near the garbage patch. 3.) Change the boats to use battery power. - so instead of burning diesel for hundreds of miles to bring in a tiny bit of garbage everything can be done at source. - At the moment, this is a bit of snake oil. - I am sure they are burning huge amounts of diesel.

People dont need to do much. An hour a week just walking around your local community can do a lot. Back when I was in highschool, going back a few decades now, I would help my science professors who, like myself, are members of Wires, WWF, Greenpeace, Sea Sheppard, etc to clean up the waste and stop it getting into the lakes. I would also get with others and walk the foreshore cleaning up trash. Now, I do what I can to enforce environmentally sustainable policies and procedures where possible in the military environment.

Exactly! I was like waiiiit .... I have heard of this guy before, but he was so far down in my passive memory that it must have been years since I heard about this guy. Unfortunately with most of these people it seems to end up as a "brilliant and potentially revolutionary idea" but doesnt really go anywhere for whatever reason, maybe because it turns out to not be feasible in practice and then you totally forget about it and these people get forgotten. But now, one of them has made it back to the mainstream conversation. And it happens to be Boyan Slat.
