I use to get 1 maybe 2 boxes of sugar cereal a year as a kid. So it was a big deal. This was 40 years ago, mom asked what cereal I wanted "Froot Loops!" She came home from the store and I ran to help her with the groceries. I was digging thru the bags looking for my shit. I didn't see no bright red box or Tucan Sam. Turns out she got the off-brand "Fruity Os" or some shit. It was in an ugly brown box with a crow on it. Nobody wants to eat a cereal with a damn crow on the box. I still ate it, but very Ir1got like 1 maybe 2 boxes of sugar cereal a year as a kid. This was 40 years ago. Y'all know all the off brand cereals are literally made by the EXACT same companies as the brand name ones right? They just do it to make extra money. You're always gonna have people buying the brand name for the higher price but not everybody can afford it so they keep their regular clientele with the higher priced version and sell the same shit in a generic box at a lower price because then the people with less money can still buy their product. Basically selling some of it rebranded for less money is gonna make them more money off the people less well off rather then if they didn't buy the cereal at all. Shaving a few bucks off is still making a profit when you add it to the brand name version as well.
