It’s not always about money the lesson. Yes, he never has to work a day in his life anymore but like he said success doesn’t bring joy. From my personal life, I always wanted to be a lawyer when I got into college. I busted my ass and studied for countless exams in law school. When I graduated and took the bar exam and passed. During all that hard work I dreamt about that day and thinking all the joy it would bring me. Money, career, great job. I was very happy for a few weeks but fell into depression for a while because I felt empty after. It wasn’t important in the grand scheme of things , just a piece of paper. My family and spending time with them brought me happiness. The little things in life not this grand thing you always dream of.
@vooligan9499
@vooligan9499 2 месяца назад
The unfortunate thing is that financial success does indeed being happiness, it isn't an absolute necessity but there are three options in this world: Work an average job and find inner peace and balance, live for yourself and forego all materialism to find joy, or (here's the financial success part) be very successful to the point where you never have to work a day in your life again and have all of the time and money to do the things that make you happy. Yes, money doesn't bring happiness in itself, but affording the time and having the ability to spend it on what makes you happy absolutely does.
@Dynomite611
@Dynomite611 2 месяца назад
@@vooligan9499 I absolutely agree and the caveat is finding that “right” thing and purpose. If tomorrow you wake up with infinity in your bank balance. How do you know what makes you happy? A good interview is one from Dana White. He said he has all the money in the world and can retire. However, sitting on an island sipping pina coladas gets boring real fast. What he love is running the UFC.

The Office Uk had unique comedy that tried to captured the little funny moments you would have in real life at your everyday boring job. And the atmosphere captured exactly what our depressing boring jobs feel/look like. The characters treat each other like strangers instead of family. They do small talk and then go back to work. And thats why i think The Office US is somewhat better because of its light heartedness. The comedy is more like a sitcom like Seinfeld. But done in a more realistic way. American comedies tend to be more colorful and cheery. Which is why they went that direction in season 2 because season 1 wasnt doing well. All the characters feel like a family and that the office is their home. Which is kind of like real life. We spend most of our days at work. Work is pretty much our home. But we arent as close with our coworkers like the office lol.

Capitalism wants to make citizens perpetually want more. You’re always supposed to want the next promotion, want the larger house, the nicer car. There’s always an upgrade and a bigger economic milestone. I remind myself that a lot of this is just to keep all us workers hungry so we keep being productive in the workforce, and the big secret is the people who have true wealth don’t have to work at all. The CEO still has bills to pay, but the person who owns the company just has to decide what they want to do each day. Don’t be manipulated.

Its always interesting whwn people talk about "society" telling them this or thst will make them happy. I always wonder who specifically in society? I dont think ive ever actually heard that sentiment from amyone in mynlife or anywhere in society. Everyone will inatinctually tell you when you are young that money doesnt buy happiness. And every movie or tv show or play i see is always a moral lesson preaching the same thinga. It seems to me this idea that money or status will make you happy is an entirely internal belief. You see a person who is happy and successful and you decide that success made them happy. You are the one falsly attributing causality between these things and happiness. And before anyone brings up advertisements manipulating people into thinking their products make you happy, that stuff only applies to children. If youre an adult and a car commercial convinces you having a bmw will make you happy then you have a much more pressing problem. Its not evidence of societal pressure.

@MylotheZooLovingScientist
@MylotheZooLovingScientist 3 месяца назад
I think there is undoubtedly a cultural / societal component to all of this; after all, we (collectively) love celebrating people like actors, singers, etc., which I feel almost inherently establishes an “us and them” dynamic that makes it easier for people to see themselves as unsuccessful or less than if they haven’t achieved a certain level of success or don’t have a certain amount of popularity. As the person above me touched on, I think advertisements have a subtle but more pernicious influence than we might realize, subconsciously suggesting to us that this new phone or this fancy car or these amazing vacations are things we should value and be actively strive to acquire. That said, I do think there is an element of “self” here, to your point. It’s essentially peer pressure. Like my mom has said to me, peer pressure doesn’t look like the kids in high school or college forcing you to have a drink or mocking you when you don’t take the cigarette or blunt they offer you. It’s an internalized desire to fit in or appear likable and a fear of what happens when you don’t fit in or aren’t likable. I think there are similar thought processes at work here. How many of us are externally motivated, guided by principles and factors outside of ourselves, just because we’re told to or feel we should? How many of us do things or act a certain way simply because many other people do? I think many people just haven’t looked inward often enough or long enough to work out what it is we really want and by what means / path we’re going to get there, whether it’s because we haven’t practiced it enough, aren’t aware of our own agency, or because we’re so overstimulated by outside noise that we don’t have the chance to. Sorry for the long-winded tangent. There’s a chance my response is totally unrelated to what you’re saying. I kind of just followed my train of thought and went wherever it led me, lol.

I actually appreciate the honesty of this question, despite the extremely uninformed premises. You can answer this question for yourself by starting with your ridiculously inaccurate statement that advertisement only works on children. As a person who spent 7 years in marketing, I can tell you that people like you make for some of our easiest marks actually. If you ask literally ANYONE they'll tell you advertisements don't work on them, dude. 😂😂 First, educate yourself on how the subconscious/power of suggestion works. And then objectively pay attention to the subliminal messaging of practically every advertisement you come across or search for the next month. You will literally be unable to see and and will wonder how you could've been so blind lol.

Nothing in this world will ever make us completely Joyful and satisfied in this world,because nothing in this world was created for that, only Jesus Christ can do that. God bless!

The problem isnt that you have or dont have money, or that your famous or not, its your mindset. Your comment screams insecurity. (Which i have too). Limiting beliefs and thoughts hold us back from being our best selves. The good news for you is that you can become your best self at any time, place, social status etc. Some old proverb goes, the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best is now. Good luck.

Sometimes i just wish actors would stfu and keep the magic/mistery going. If you don't wanna keep to yourself, do not be an entertainer.

U had no idea of the impact?? How? Was it a show u guys made? Did u do anything new, apart from Americanizing it? Was it not an absolute success everywhere else it showed before u guys took it?
