I think this scene justifies why corporate thought of making Jim co-manager. We never really see the workload the branch has to deal with, and Wallace coming out with the news that Jim would be promoted seemed totally out of the blue. I still buy it and enjoy it but this scene is both hilarious and essential.

That's very interesting. I don't think they even touched upon the fallout from the closure of the Buffalo branch in the actual show (other than in the Season 5 finale when Michael and Holly totally schruted it lol) .

There's almost 3 seasons worth of deleted scenes when you tally them all up, there's a guy online that edits in the deleted scenes of every episode into the original to create an extended version. You should check them out, they're amazing.

MetalSandman999 yeah they really should’ve kept the scenes where michael is dealing with the buffalo branch absorption bc he says that he’s overwhelmed but they never showed him actually being overwhelmed

i like ricky gervais' sense of humour, and i enjoy the jokes in the uk version, i just think the acting it better in the us version. plus the us version has much more of a over-arching story

Robbie Mckennie I do like Ricky’s sense of humor. But I guess if UK’s version was truly better? It would’ve ran longer then 2 seasons. US version? 9 seasons. Ijs

Ricky did like all the writing of the original himself.... That takes it out of you... Also, if it had gone on longer then the US remake wouldn't have been made. The original is brilliant and different from the US remake which is also brilliant in it's own way. Stop being a prat. ijs.

@@Knowledge_wisdomwins UK shows often have few seasons only (eg Sherlock). Also I don't think a direct comparison is very apt because The style of comedy is very different between thee shows. The UK one relies on superb cringe comedy and the humour is also often quite subtle. The US one is quite goofy and light-hearted in comparison. It also doesn't take itself very seriously. The characters are also more innocent/lovable. Overall though, I found the UK one to be more funny than the US one

"the acting is better in the us version" oof i think the exact oposite, in the us version you can tell everyone is acting, uk version feels so real you almost forget they are actors at all. but both versions are good in their own right

I preferred the us one and im English. Better story and Michael scotts a more likable character than David Brent. I do like both though.

If you watched the UK one, you have to watch the Netflix movie they did on the aftermath of him. It's called David Brent: Life on the Road and it is freaking hilarious.

The real reason why this was cut was because there were two instances where Michael could've said "That's what she said" but he didn't. That's just unacceptable.

I prefer the US version, but the original's intent was different. It was supposed to be super cringe and awkward, and to make fun of cold professionalism in the workplace and the sociopathic behavior of management. They tried that with the US version in the first season but it didn't work, so they toned it down and converted the show into a comedy sitcom that is easier to digest. Michael is still socially inept and egoistic but his goofs and his desire to be likeable gives him the audience's pity and support.
