Kid Fury is actually an original American Gladiator (Malibu) and his name is Deron McBee. He played Motaro in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation and has been in a bunch of random TV shows and made for DVD schlock. Also he says his muscular physique comes from prayer and once tried to commit disability fraud in Los Angeles, trying to claim disability from being a police officer while also working as a Chip and Dale dancer. What a rabbit hole.

I can't believe Warrior was Lord Fear's brother all along. Marvel just put extra scenes the middle of the credits. Dragon Strike gives it you its bg twist *in* the credits. Incredible stuff

My friend actually owns DragonStrike and it's a blast to play. Apparently there's a sort of sequel to this video called Wildspace which was based on Spelljammer. It's basically more of the same but in space.

My mom actually got DragonStrike for me as a Christmas gift in '93 when I was 6. I didn't know what DnD was or anything about RPGs, but it really sparked my interest. Sadly, I did give away my original copy, but kudos to TSR, because this was a gateway product that 100% did its job.

The Warrior actually was on American Gladiators. He's Malibu from Season 1.

For a really good account of the filming of this video bqck in the 1990's, check out the recently released book, Slaying the Dragon: a Secret History of Dungeons & Dragons, by Ben Riggs. Apparently the "actors" were hired off the Universal Studios lot's Conan set.

I am a DM and I sometimes do organized play. Organized play tends to be waaaaaay behind when it comes to more modern play styles but it also has become a more social game, which makes it so eerily similar to this video. In my home setting there is a lot less of the "stop talking woman" vibes obviously but it still is unusually accurate...or would be if my players ever actually made characters with dungeon crawl elements in mind.

I was born right at the edge of the VHS times, right when they were getting phased out so we had them at my dad's camp or at my grandparent's house. And I am convinced there will never be anything quite as cursed in the media space as the whole of VHS media taken together. It's like 1 of every 3 VHS's has something on it that deals psychic damage to me.

I remember the game. It was basically TSR making their own Heroes' Quest board game to recruit fans of that game into AD&D. It worked. Finding more people to play AD&D because of that happened. Most of the new interests were Heroes' Quest fans who bought that game. I remember the video to it being better, including the "Dragon Master" being a hooded figure. Either there were different publications of it or I am experiencing a Mandela Effect.

Fun fact: Kid Fury’s real name is Deron McBee. He also played Motaro in Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, one of Harvey’s thugs in Batman Forever, and a muscle man in the cult classic Elvira - Mistress of the Dark! Dragon Strike (DS as we used to call it) is 30 years old… I’m 40. 😅 Also Lord Fear was the vampire looking guy who crashed the party t with all of the skeletons.

Interestingly, I looked into it. and "kid fury" and "skye fury" are both entirely unrelated, and I can find NOTHING on them using those names. According to IMDB the warrior was played by Deron McBee and Lord Fear was played by Paul Townsend, but it doesn't even list their credits as being under psudeonyms.

Side note: Deron McBee is more famously known as Malibu. He was in American Gladitor as well as played Motaro in Mortal Kombat Anhillation.

HA! I had this board game growing up as a kid, but I don’t remember playing the board game AT ALL. My brothers, cousins, and I would watch this video that came with the game over and over all the time like it was our favorite Disney movie. None of my friends had ever heard of this when I became an adult 😂 it made me feel crazy!

I used to own the game. Lots of fun. The video was bonkers and had nothing to do with the game, but a fun watch. It was mostly TSR trying to steal the thunder of Hero Quest, which had some real success in the early 90's peddling a simplified version of D&D to younger kids.
