it is called 4D because not only the whole animation is in 3D but the surface on which it is projected on is not flat which gives the presentation an additional dimension. Pretty cool show !
I read that when the 4 fragrance bottles are turning, that bottle #2 "explodes" and they sprayed out that smell from the front of the building! You can hear the crowd react to the scent...pretty dang cool!!
I have much respect for Ralph Lauren. This man is one of the best fashion designers and he never went to school for fashion!!! I wish I could've been there for this show!!!
SOMEBODY ..PLEASE..TELL ME WHAT KIND OF PROYECTOR DO YOU NEED TO DO THIS THING!!!! I MEAN...........HOW MANY LUMENS...?? OR LENSES TYPE?? ....ORE HOW MANY BRANDS..HAVE THIS PROYECTORS???..THNKS
The 4th Dimension is time. We live in a four dimensional world, we just dont see time, we can only feel or see its effects on the world. We only see 3 dimensions length width and height. So thejinxedone I dont know what sense has to do with dimensions, and i dont know how the hell its 4D. Pretty cool show though.
In november 11 as celebration for the 100 th anniversary of revolution, they made exactly this thing in the zocalo square of mexico city, but in a bigger 'fashion' so this is not the first. As a matter of fact last year they made it also in el zocalo but in a lesser version...
The 4th dimension isn't time. Time, Energy/Waves, and Space/Matter are different entities, with different properties. That's like saying a sphere is 44 seconds in time, or 30 seconds of time is exactly 4.5 kilowatts. Time exists in 3d, 2d, 1d, and even 0d. Saying Time is the 4th dimension is almost like saying "Color is the 5th dimension, and Love is the 6th!
this is 3d (objects having length , width, and height) if you were there , 2d if looking at a standard monitor, you can't perceive 4d in a 3d world, just like you can't perceive 3d in a 2d world with no possible way to see up or down only left , right, back, forward. As a matter of fact, as a 3d creature you are perceiving things in a 2d fashion, you only see what's in front of you but a 4d being would see things in a 3d fashion, which is what 3d movies, tv's, and this show looks like.
@heresmokethis I was not aware that experiences within the 3 dimensional world could count as dimensions in itself. I must have missed the paper on that. Also, when you say "the scientific community" you should specify. Theoretical physicists do see time as the 4th dimension (as it simplifies their theories), but in mathematics the 4th dimension is spacial (specially when dealig with vectors). Oh, and string theory has its own interpretation of everything. As for religious debate, god made it?
Their justification for calling it a 4d experience is founded upon colloquial terms in the media - it's a "3D" visual experience combined with releasing cologne into the air around the audience, adding a "fourth" dimension to the presentation. Silly, but that's what they were getting at. The hologram work was awesome though.

@PrototypeNo98 Nothing about the title or the description make much sense... 4D? Well, I guess it DOES progress forward through time, if you are one to consider that the 4th dimension. But a "visual feast for the 5 senses" just blows me away with its pompous nonsense. It's an amazing visual display, no doubt, but that's really all. They're not trying to sound "classy" they're being pretentious
@arpxdagoodone Its not exactly 4D, its a 3D render of the building projected in 2D onto the real building. My guess its their just trying to sound classy by saying its 4D, when really its a 2D illusion.
I do understand why theyre calling it 4D.. they dont know what 3d is. sure anyone with alittle 3d/film knowledge knows how its done, simple concept but hard to setup correctly and to the work is best suited for compositors case man some of that work is layered nightmare. i admit i love the work that crew creates, but what gets me is those projects they use, ive only seen two. and there contrast ratio is pretty insane.
Actually, it would be 5D. X,Y,Z being the first D's, time being agreed upon throughout the scientific community as the 4D, smell is 5D. However, that being said, it is actually irrelevant taking into the account the Multiverse. The real question here, is how are we going to change this in to a religious debate?
This is the first time I have ever thumbs down anything in my entire history of RU-vid and I've been using it for years. This is nothing like the 4th dimension.
em 4d comes out at you like if somone was slidding down the hill a snow hill when they got to the bottom and they crashed and the snow went everywere it will come out the screen thats 4d saw it in alton towwers saw ice age
I fail to see how 3D projections are four dimensional. The only part of this whole thing that could be considered 4D at first glance is at 3:54 when the building appears to "fold into itself", except that it doesn't, it just gyrates on two axis. I also thought that "digital innovation" had been going on since the 60s. I understand you're trying to be gimmicky, but please, be gimmicky with accuracy.
@elmaorichileancho Hi m8..Check;LUMENTEKTUR,VJForums,and or 3D video mapping (like the 3Ds program)...the projectors must be the best you can buy...and also you need to build a virtual model of the building....a lot of work...because even small mistakes show up...I just know a little about it,hope you can find your answers and peace to you and all open minded people ;)
This is not 4D at all. It's just 3D with special effects & holograms. No one haven't discovered what 4D is because our eyes cannot see what 4D is. Still an entertaining show though.
