Disagree. Ice Hockey is amazing once you figure it out. You can body check dudes so bad. Auto racing is the same way its so much fun. Space Armada is even better than Invaders. I had all 3 as a kid and we loved them. Still do.
Ice hockey and auto racing were so much fun in the day. The hand held contoller was a little difficult to use for most games but I preferred it to a joystick.
4 bit era of gaming? Nintendo Game and watch were 4 bit, but even Atari and channel F were 8 bit. The intellivision actually had a 16 bit processor. There really was no 4 bit gaming era
The sports games for Intellivision were great for its time. I'd have some intense battles in NHL Hockey and Auto Racing. The fact that yes, it had the NHL license but the teams were always just the same color, was really true for all sports games at the time, so you can't really knock it for that.
WRONG WRONG WRONG on Hockey, boxing and auto racing. Hockey was a GREAT 2 player game. I used to pass all the time right b4 you would get checked to sometimes force a penalty and goals were not that hard to come by. Boxing had variety with 6 different boxers to choose from and knocking your opponent out was a blast. Auto racing was AWESOME and not that hard to control the car
4-bit? Intellivision has a 16-bit processor. Just a very slow one. For Intellivision Donkey Kong try DK Arcade and for Zaxxon try Space Raid. Both are very competent versions of the game on Intellivision.
Chris Willis it's not technically as slow as it often appeared to be. In the original library days no one apparently figured out how to develop for the IntelliVision home video game console line to their full potential. Fortunately since homebrew, probrew, and prototype games have shown a lot closer!
What? Boxing is one of the best games on the system especially the updated version that allows a one player option. With all due respect, either you are flummoxed by the controls or you've not played the game extensively and given it a chance. Ice hockey is the same especially the updated version with one player.
Auto Racing is a great game! The controls take some getting used to, but once you do, you can fishtail all over the place. If you're really looking for a bad game, try Vectron. The game is very complex and using the controller to play it gives you a massive hand cramp. I got to level 7 once...
Auto racing was one of the BEST games. You're just one of those people who had no spatial ability so when the cars headed down the screen you got confused which way to turn.
Star Strike - never understood it Space Hawk - huh? Tron Maze-A-Tron WTF? I agree with a number of your selections, but I thought auto racing was awesome. We used to have family competitions on that one.
I liked Auto Racing, Boxing and Ice Hockey. In Hockey, there was something so satisfying about hacking an opponent with your stick and it making that smacking a pillow sound as they tripped. Now Star Strike sucked big time. That would be my pick for worst (at least that I bought).
Coleco INTENTIONALLY made both the Atari 2600's, & Intellivision's versions of Donkey Kong as CRAPPY as they possibly could! (To "push" ColecoVision's MUCH better version!)
To be honest I loved "NHL Hockey", "Auto Racing" and "Boxing". My friends and I had lots of fun with them. You should consider the impact this games made in their time, not the actual quality with todays view.
Big disagree on NHL Hockey. It's so much better than this guy makes it sound...and once you get good at it, you could get into some ridiculously fun shootouts with your opponent(ie my brother, a couple of different friends, etc, who all likewise became really good at it). Scores of games would get into double digits....like 15-10, 13-12, etc!
The caption marks along the timeline can be amusing. Pool Position? Drawn Solar Sailer? How can this be a top 10 worst list and NOT include Sharp Shot?
All these games are good they just take time to learn. Cant blame graphics it's a system from 1979. Why didnt they think about boxing games like they did 10 years later jerks? Lol whatever all these games are fun
Donkey Kong Jr was a great game for the Intellivision, better than the VCS and a vast improvement over Donkey Kong. Auto Racing was also a great game with Great graphics, one of the Best for the system and once you took a little time to learn how to control the car its fun. Space Armada is one of the Best games on the system, better than Space Invaders on Atari VCS.
@@Getagirlfriend-y4e Did you read his description under the video? His opinion is correct. Anyone who has a different opinion is wrong. Doesn't sound like he's respecting anyone else.
I wish you opened your mouth about those hornable mentions as well because donkeykong jr is a bad port as well with poor hit & collision detection along with lazy graphics & sounds.
The Mario/Jumpman sprite in my opinion, looks like miniaturized versions of the characters from Changed, and maybe even the latex creatures from that game. (4:13)
Donkey Kong on Intellivision was the first I ever played so I liked it. Stadium Mud Buggies should be on this list. Space Hawk, Space Battle and Sea Battle should be on this list.
