Obviously more than just an action show for me. My favorite of these official podcasts so far. Olivia Cheng stands very tall in my eyes. I regret not being there last week to meet her in person when she came to SF for the Asian Art Museum event for WARRIOR.
This show is criminally underrated. Internal conflicts within Chinatown. The “working man” vs the Chinese. The powers that be fighting amongst themselves for power while pulling the strings on everyone else. Not to mention the struggle of a woman of ALL races struggling through all of this chaos. Plus, the fight scenes are dope!
Great insight from Olivia on episode 4. Her scene where she covers up her bruises with make up stood out to me even before episode 4. It was featured all the way back in the trailer too. I thank Olivia for being honest. The scene could be empowering but also complicated. Great job!
I'm a pretty hard critic as I don't really watch TV and this is the only show I actually look forward to watching. Honestly you guys do a fantastic job all around and Im surprised how you've been consistent with the writing, music, action, choreography, set pieces, acting, and overall story. I also do martial arts so I'm pretty biased there, but the choreography has been phenomenal. As well, being Asian I'm pretty hard on the Asian media representation being put out, I can say this one is easily my favorite. I just feel the other stuff mainstream media pushes seems forced and not my cup of tea.
A great show that also describes the history early Asian life. Every Asian American should be watching this show and respect the early immigrants that came before and what they went through. A truly inspiring and phenomenal show that sadly Asians rarely is represented enough of in film.
I knew about the Exclusion Act before watching the show. I knew based on history this show would be rough to watch. But dang. Sometimes it is really hard to watch but i have thoroughly loved every single episode!
