The Ogopogo is a creature steeped in legend dating back to the Indigenous and their stories of a water demon in Lake Okanagan. Today, the Ogopogo isn't so much a water demon as a tourist attraction and a way to sell merchandise.
Today, I look at the story of the Ogopogo of Okanagan Lake.

Hey, thank you for this video. Really appreciate the song and lyrics. I have a story my late grandfather told me. Small background about him. He was a 1st nation's indigenous Medicine man from Manitoba. When he was a teenager in the 1930's he was fishing at lake Manitoba. He saw a serpent like being, entering the waters, hes off shore and witnessed this creature enter the lake from the heavy bush and mentioned it did have a few spike like protrusions running down its side. And he also saw a thunderbird whilst driving along the #1 highway in British Columbia back in the 60's.. he passed away in 2020 at the age of 92.. he never told a lie in his life..

Nice video - new subscriber here. We live a little further north in Shuswap Lake and the lake monster here is Shuswaggi. They must be cousins! 🤣

I lived in Vernon until I was six and moved to Indiana. When I told them I lived near a lake with a monster and told them it’s name. They wouldn’t believe it because it sounded so weird.

I’ve been BC for over 10 years and more then half of that in Kelowna. Your podcast even had little history facts that I didn’t even know about! These videos would be a great learning tools during the pandemic.
