That’s a kit I would have, that Ulu is genius! A robust cutting tool that you can actually use, as far a the Mylar blanket is concerned, it’s always better to have something than nothing, I think is celluloid that guitars picks are made of, great item to have in that kit, excellent job on this kit Jason
$150??!! Can make that not for a fraction of the price. It's absolutely AWESOME, in a pinch, don't get me wrong. But, the only thing with the money is the mini ulu!
A lot of guys like to make their own kits. Me too! Some don’t. Some want to buy something they can trust and not have to spend the time and money doing the trial and error testing of gear like we do. The Ulu is pretty cool if I do say so myself.
I have never believed in micro survival kits. In the trunk of my car is a backpack with a mylar tent, mylar sleeping bag, mora companion, alcohol stove, first aid kit, portable radio, LED flashlight, food, Sawyer mini water filter, cordage, 6 mil trash bags, gloves, lighters and storm proof matches, an old Gerber folding saw, a hatchet, a hat, Gorilla tape, a mini fishing kit, a SAK trekker folder and miscellaneous other items. All together, it probably cost me a couple hundred dollar. Some people tell me it's too valuable to leave in my trunk because it might get stolen. My thinking is: How much is my life worth? I can replace all these items if I need to, but I can't buy a new life. I would hate to be stranded with only a micro survival kit.
