The Oh of Pleasure (Ray Lynch) played live.
Get the .wav file here: drive.google.com/open?id=1Ktq...
This time I'm testing two maxforlive devices in Ableton Live.
One of them allows transposing midi clips to the chord played in the keyboard, in the same way keyboard arrangers do. (This device has some latency, so chords must be played a bit earlier. The device has quanization to allow the chord played stay in time).
The main arpeggio and bass use this technique.
The other device holds the chord played in the keyboard until another chord is played and adds a root key note in key with the chord played. This device is used in the strings track.
Main arpeggio, bass and lead - Virus Ti Snow
Strings, second arpeggio and synth brass - Motif Rack XS
BCR switch arp and bass patterns, control volume and filter cutoff of several sounds.
Sorry for the bad playing

Such a beautiful melody. Brings back memories of sitting in the car with Michelle outside of the bar as the sun comes up, listening to this song. I almost forget that she's an undercover cop...

I just happened upon your video. I'm a Ray Lynch fan going back 30 years. This is the first time I've ever seen anyone faithfully recreate any piece of his music, and doing it live in real time is amazing. He used to spend hundreds of hours in the studio to create each piece!

My mother and I shared a fascination with the unknown when she was alive. We saw a UFO together when I was a kid that we continued to talk about throughout her life. We talked often about the afterlife as well, and we both shared a curiosity about how it would feel like to pass from this life into that one. If a particular song could come close to what I feel might qualify as a soundtrack for the experience, evoking emotions felt only by those who have crossed over, it would have to be this one. When my mother passed away back in August of 2012, I immediately thought about this song, and every time I hear it, I think of my mother and what it must have been like to her, passing through the light into eternity. They say the music of heaven is unlike anything we have ever heard here on Earth, but "The Oh of Pleasure", to me anyway, sounds as close to heavenly as we could possibly ever get. Nice job...the goosebumps are a real treat, and so are the memories of my mom. Thanks!!

Wow, I'm totally blown away. I have listened to Ray play this So many times since it first came out - as a tape in the 80's. Carried that tape to many countries - Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Botswana, Malawi and many others in Africa to play on a variety of early walkmans while I worked or traveled. Yea I too thought this was ray doing a slightly different version - so good to see the hands on tweaking while playing. Thanks So much for making this video and sharing.

My very first introduction to this type of music was in a little shop in Wisconsin. They had the CD playing and I asked what it was. DEEP BREAKFAST they told me. I bought a copy on the spot and been hooked ever since. Ray Lynch's music is awesome, and you did a marvelous job of playing it.

I first encountered it when "Celestial Sodapop" was used in a Nova Episode about waterways. (The bubbly melody went nicely with images of babbling brooks.) A couple of years later, I happened to be visiting the science center in St. Louis, and in the gift shop that song was playing over the speakers. I went to the cashier and asked if the CD they were playing was for sale. "Deep Breakfast" came home with me. "Celestial Sodapop" is still my favorite song on it.
@jeremygrahamellis
@jeremygrahamellis 7 лет назад
My family also found Deep Breakfast at that same shop in Bar Harbor, back in 1984. It was called The Blue Heron. There was another shop called The Dancing Deer/Boston Baked Beads. The two shop owners were named Gail (she owned Blue heron on Main Street) and Paul (owned the other shops an the other side of the park), and they ended up getting married. Nice to see that's it's a small world.

Major sound of my childhood. Listen to the CD a LOT. Purchased it on a family vacation at some gift shop after listening to it. When I heard it in GTA4 I blew a gasket.
