The Nuge’s growth has flown under the radar, but it is to be expected from a dude that just hit puberty. Heck, he could still pass for a teenager no problem. I knew he was going to be a late bloomer. Big congratulations on baby Nuge on the way.

It’s not about how many pps you get in the playoffs though. It’s if you can score when you get the opportunity.

It is such a stupid argument to be made but I also don't put much attention into that because those people really have no common sense or any basic understanding of hockey

@Dylan Sparks it's probably the same people that trashed them early in their careers because their powerplay sucked. I remember all the comments about "they're one trick ponies who can only score off the rush. They can't play in close on the powerplay"

Sure, but every team says the same thing. I've seen many infractions that the Oilers should've got a penalty for, but didn't, so it goes both ways.

Refs know that calling a penalty against an Oiler’s opponent is tantamount to giving the Oilers a goal. So they are probably hesitant to call them unless they are extremely obvious penalties. In a way, the Oilers are victims of their incredible PP success.

Is their powerplay better statistically now?

It's an argument I made before the start of the season. Not because I had any beef with Barrie as such, but because the composition of the defense as a whole was so awkward with him in it. Because he played 3rd pair minutes, and was only ever used to full effect on PP. But I said that Bouchard should take ever the PP, because he can also play top 4 minutes away from the PP. The Ekholm trade was just perfect, because it removed that awkwardness, and allowed Bouchard to take over that position, while also massively improving the defense outside of the PP.

Barrie was not a bad player by any means just not a good fit for the roles he was playing and it was having a negative/awkward outcome and now since changing that things have been much better now I can't wait to watch the team play the ducks tonight

They tried that back in the cup final game against Philly which had 11pp to the Oils 2 Oilers rose to the occasion
