I take you on a trip on The Old Brick Road thru Flagler County, Florida from Espanola to Flagler Beach. This is one of the main highways into Florida in the early 1900's.
I found this road one day by accident. I drove as far as I could but the sand looked too deep so I turned around. I was so excited I called the St. Augustine historical society and went there. They were real nice and brought out all these old newspapers from the 1920's. I'm sure they still have them if you want more info. That was a very special day for me I'll never forget. The bricks all looked as if they were brand new. I hope they don't ruin that pristine area but just like they ruined old St. Augustine greed will have it's way. The old timers in St. Augustine preserved it for generations but like I said younger people sold the town and county out to the corporate world. There's still plenty of land in Flagler County. Buy it while you can. From Reno Nevada.
Thank you so much for watching! Thankfully the Old Brick Road is still there for now! I wish I could buy a bunch of land to preserve. Property is very expensive down here in Florida now. It's getting crazy!
Weird how some of those old roads don't connect anymore. Wish they would have saved the whole thing. It's like that with the Old Kings Road too. Oldest road in Florida but it wasn't saved! If I'm ever out near Polk County I'll have to check it out. Thanks for watching!
Some of the old brick road is SR100 and there are pieces of the old road that run off of it in certain areas. The best and longest part to visit and drive starts in Espanola. Take 100 to Us-1 then turn on Cr 13. Cr 13 is the old brick road but paved. When u arrive to Espanola the brick road will be to the right at the fork in the road. You could just google maps it. I used to eat at friends cafe every weekend when i lived on the beachside. Always good breakfast.
There is lots of bullets and shot gun shells out there, lol! Thay's a cool area out there lots of history all thru them woods. I grew up on the other side of the county! Out in Korona.
In the USA, the ALMIGHTY DOLLAR, supercedes all historic considerations. As a Florida resident, I can assure you with 100% certainty, that if the REAL Estate developers had their way, the Entire State of Florida would be endless homes and condominiums from the Georgia border right through the keys. They would pave over the Everglades. Greedy Bastards.
