This is the 3rd and final recap of the Esports World Cup (EWC) for Street Fighter 6. 32 of the best players on the planet entered, such as EVO champion Punk, MenaRD, and BigBird, but on the final day, only players like AngryBird, Leshar, XiaoHai, Bonchan, Kowano, etc. remain. And in this final phrase of the million dollar tournament, one player asks the world: Are you nervous?

It's wild that Xiaohai who is by far the winningest player in KOF (which is by no means an easy game to be consistently a winner at, especially given all the setups that can result in death, 2 touch matches are common in KOF) thinks that he cannot win or is a bad competitor just because he is 35. I think he still has room to grow in SF6 and I don't think he can consistently bet top tier opponents everytime, but I do think over the past few months he has shown that he has the mettle at least to drag the game out to that magical zone where every top tier player can beat other top tier players, proven heavily in this tournament with MenarD and Punk being removed so early on in the bracket(s) and I think the only thing that matters at that point once you can enter that zone is just how much sheer grit and gutsiness you have. Xiaohai's performance in this tournament I think can be considered an over achievement, but that I think is what is needed to win at SF6 as it is currently. Either way, I am definitely amazed by Xiaohai and I hope he has all the confidence in himself because he deserves all the respect that he gets.

Watch Juicebox video explaining KOF, seem to be a more difficult game than any SF game. 4 types of jumps, no dashes but running, and run canceling, Kara mechanics, need to main 3 characters. What’s impressive of XH is that he managed to win SF6 on a stick - his EVO gold stick lol. I wonder if he modded it. SF6 is executionally more difficult than USF4 on stick - left hand needs to be super precise for optimal DR, and all the QCB / QCF and DP, side switch DP motions. Bipson, you need have optimal DR 100% of the time. I get it 90%. HORI HRAP 4, needs a bullet top and more spring tension.

i don’t think KOF is entirely more advanced than SF. It is not like you are good in KOF then you are good in SF by default. Just Xiaohai himself being too good. The hop mechanic is just more of a way to counter crouch light in KOF since crouch light works like it is SF2 with instant recovery and can link into itself too easily. Unlike Capcom they want to make this a tradition so naturally they came up with something else to counter some obviously too op buttons. And characters only have 4 normal buttons instead of 6. So neutrals in KOF is actually different, I won’t say they are simpler, just the way of approaching opponent is nothing like how we play neutrals in SF. Which makes me respect Xiaohai more since he literally adapted two different neutral games and is able to switch back and forth.

@@abc2390986 hmm interesting, I would love to see XH play 3S - that’d be cool. But I would also like the EVO organizers to bring back USF4 next year 🤣

Modern Ed might be the best modern character in the game IMO. Easy and quick DP is huge for him.

I was just watching Brian play the new 2XKO game and figuring it out on the go, and that's so fun. I really wish Brian would try my favorite fighting game, Jojo ASBR. The game has it's problems, but I'd really like to see him give it a go. I remember Justin Wong tried it for a bit, it's fun to see these veterans getting to know a new game.
