Oh my, i remember we had a Massey Harris 80 ( or 81 ) special which had a gasoline engine on it, looks almost the same. It was already old when i was young ;-) I still have one rear wheelhub which acted as a counterweight.....

Great video , good to see an old machine doing a fine job it hard to think what value this combine was back in the late 60s or 70s to farming in ireland when ireland was coming out of the old binder years cutting corn keep the good work up

Brilliant! Love seeing that. My dad had one when I was a kid in the sixties. I used to ride on the tool box between the seat and the tank.

Nice to see the old technology running with no modern technology faults. I bet it was mentally draining though watching it like a hawk all day to make sure the header was running 100%

I bet father phill was itching after the oats dust. Over 15 or 16 years ago I was at the girley harvest festival in Meath for a vintage combine record attempt was father phill there for a look. The highlight of my day was seeing Tommy Trainors folding head combine working

This is so cheap and it does the job. I'm planning to buy one but I gotta think of a cheap method to transport it 2500 km away. I got a hgv license if you got any affordable idea on how to transport it I'm open to suggestion.

Great to see Father Phil have a great evening cutting away with the old combine, if the 38 had'nt broke down I guess the 788 would have spent this year inside the shed again :) Looking grand, and there is nothing wrong using these old machines even these days, they do the same job, just not as fast as the newer ones :)

I just found your channel and it’s pretty neat! I’m glad to see people on the other side of the world are into the same things I am like running vintage equipment. Thank you Father Phil and crew for bringing back good memories of a Massey 780 Special my first combine bought from Sam King RIP on the Derry road outside Omagh County Tyrone I think 1982 I drove it across the border to Emevale as my local lorry man Murt RIP wouldn’t cross the border at that time I could see his reason A southern registered truck in the north could cause trouble ,any way that same pump drive belt fell off on the Bridge in Omagh ,in five minutes I was surrounded on all sides by British army and they even helped my to get going and an army escort out of town We got her to her new home in Ballacolla and it became the hens friend for a few years and sold on to a family near the big Ploughing country was a good wee machine knife drive gave trouble and when we sorted that it didn’t like the serrated knife worked better with a old type sharp knife likely could have done with a set of fingers Had a Perkins LD 270 Cubic inch with Rotary fuel pump and that engine would literally pull down a house There was not many of those engines in Ireland,but were very popular in Australia

Amazing Phil, you are cutting silage and it is NOT raining. What a grand day!!! I cannot believe how cold it is getting at night in your part of the world, or for that matter how cold it is during your days now. We are still suffering 90 F during our days and praying that the winds in the hurricane won't be much. It's our rainy season until the end of next month. Georgia in Central Florida.

Evening to one and all That’s a man, happy at his work. Father Phil one of a kind! One could not have anything but respect, for him. Preserving this machine, is a love in itself. In this very difficult world we live in. It’s good to see a combine of that age. Just getting on with what it was made for. I wonder where the modern complicated combines, will be in 50 years time. Just like most things that happen on farms the old massey's steps in to finish the jobs 😉😆. Good one folks nice seeing the old girl out showing off she can still do her job. Stay safe 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

It is really nice to see these old machines doing a good day's work. However, Father Phil standing up as he combined brought back terrible memories. My great uncle was doing exactly that on a similar MF combine and for whatever reason, he fell into the header. His injuries were extensive although thankfully and luckily he pulled through and lived out his natural life. These cab-less combines with absolutely no safety features to prevent a fall are potential death traps.
