It's gotta be Alex Cobb. He was wayy too interested in his thing. But maybe it's Kinsler and it's a digestible explanation of how some players do and don't rack up WAR
I’m taking McCutchen for CF. 36 years old and is batting about .280, having crucial hits and works the count. Can still fly in the outfield, that would be my CF.
@@hypetrained No issue with him, he might be a little better defensively than McCutchen but just in my opinion I would rather have 2023 McCutchen than 2023 Kev.. just my opinion tho man!
@@JDubs518 A little better defensively? Kiermaier still has the best defensive grades in CF this year, and Cutch has been a total liability in the field.
Justin turner got robbed. Also jake never be afraid to be bill simmons. Even as a boston guy, i dont mind some tastefull homer-ism as long as you acknowledge your bias
@@whyoowhyyeah but the AL is so stacked that do the Yankees have the month of batting sub .100 to spare? He should swallow his pride and take rehab stints or get out of town
No joke, when Jake said he didn't know any Baileys, I immediately thought of a couple girls I knew in High School and College named Bailey, and then Foolish Bailey took the words right out of my mouth 😂
Scherzer isnt the best playoff guy, but when you picture Scherzer you think about the world series (loser) Tigers, the World Series winning Nationals with him in the bullpen wanting to close game 7, and the 2021 LA Dodgers against the Giants. He is a playoff GUY
@@wallacecreed4746 Yeah, Max Scherzer started that game and threw 5 innings. Corbin came out of the bullpen that game for another 3, then Daniel Hudson closed in the 9th.
except the 2021 NLCS when he said he couldn’t go on short rest, bc he knew he was entering free agency, and made the dodgers pitch walker buehler on even shorter rest.
I'm not sure where you are getting surefire HOFer for Altuve. He is in year 13, so right around where Pedroia, Zobrist and Kinsler retired in terms of years played. And he is really about there or worse in a lot of the key analytics. Plus, he will always have the weight of being the clear leader of the biggest team cheating scandal maybe in baseball history (Black Sox too of course). I think he probably gets it because I don't think he is slowing down and could still compile and even perform for the next 3-4 years. But right now for his years of play being similar to those guys, I don't see him as a lock by any means. Jeff Kent is also a pretty fair comparison because he is one of the only 2 other 2B on BRef with a negative career bWAR in that top 30 all time 2B list. For guys carried almost entirely by offense, some similarities there. And Kent didn't get in. (The other negative defensive WAR guy is Carew but he played plenty of 1B which is much harder to get positive defensive WAR in).
I actually think right now, Evan Longoria is a significantly better HOF candidate than Altuve (of course, I wouldn't be shocked if Altuve played at his level for another 2-4 seasons and made his case significantly better). But Longo really has a case. There are 4 less 3B HOFers (16 vs 20) which factors in and by JAWS, Longo is 18th all time at the position while Altuve currently is 23rd all time. Also working in Longo's favor is that he is just a HOF guy, while Altuve (deserved or not) is not well liked by the MLB fan base overall.
Love the video but come off that Jeter argument 😂 he was a horrid ss defensively and it didn't start when he was 33. He's never been an above average defender in his life, tremendous hitter but his defense left something to be desired lol lowest drs in baseball history at -152 terrible considering 2nd is like -78 or so 😂😂

Altuve isn't the best player in this draft by any means, but it's a value over replacement question. The second best 2B is league's behind altuve, who just turned in an MVP-caliber season in 2022.
@@phedden97fair but this year is what I'm and they were referring to. They were acting like he's having an MVP season this year when he's barely getting going and looking a step worse than last year, while Shohei's somehow looking even better too. It's not an MVP season by any means for Altuve
@@ShrexyGuy Don't think anyone is trying to make an MVP case for Altuve this year lmao. they ackowledged his missed time this year, recognized that he quietly had a great season last year, said "he's still jose altuve," and moved on. What does Ohtani have to do with any of this?
@@johnjohnsonjohn their exact words were "Jose had an MVP caliber season last year and he's doing it again this year". Who's the clear cut MVP in the AL this season? Definitely not Jose and the player I brought up to compare is definitely in the mix. He (Shohei) is clearly an outlier for what an AL MVP candidate is
