Completely unnecessary. How are we supposed to believe that this is a love story. Halil shows no love, warmth, remorse-nothing towards Zeynep. It doesn’t even bother him that his aunt beat the living daylights out of her. There is no sense of guilt neither for how he treats her nor those around him. How are we supposed to believe Zeynep loves him when all he does is verbally, physically and emotionally abuse her. This scene is the height of it. She’s terrified of him, is tiptoeing around trying not to run into him and he seeks her out to bully, abuse, demean and belittle her. Smh.

Maybe you should learn more about Zeynep's character and her motivations in order to understand her actions and the reasons behind it. She's not weak or has no self-respect. In fact, it's the contrary. She's resistant and patient. She has the strength to withstand difficulties and handle them with grace and kindness. She isn't someone who gives up easily when facing what life throws at her. She may seem weak in the eyes of many people but that's because her extraordinary strength of character isn't commonly found nowadays and doesn't fit the mainstream idea of how certain things should be.
