Scandinavian noble families (not current ruling families). Biggest German, Austrian and Hungarian families from prussian and Austria Hungary empires. Russian princely families (not tulling5in Russia anytime).
"It's like game of thrones but with less blood, more legal paperwork and because it's in Italy, much better attire." Must be one of the best lines I've ever heard in the narration of a documentary.
Thank you for sharing this video, I think it was relatively accurate in terms of the history of the Savoy dynasty. However there are some things which you mentioned that are let's say fully evident. Such as the vote in 1946, it has long been believed that the Republic of Italy "forced" the Monarchy out by adding a number of false votes with even having people who were already dead voting in favour of the republic and then not allowing a large number of the Prisoners of War to vote etc. When Umberto II left, he was told by the republic he would be allowed to come back or send someone to come back and collect the families belongings including artwork, jewels and the like which belonged to his family but instead the republic confiscated everything his family had collected over the past 900+ years at that point. His grandson (who you mentioned, Emmanuel Filiberto) who I fortunate enough to know, told me of the story of Umberto II's favourite jacket which he had left in behind because they went into exile in summer time, but it too was confiscated by the Republic. Then when the family was allowed to come back to Italy in 2002, they were criticised that they only stayed for a few hours, going to see the pope, but the truth is that the Republic told them they may not stay longer. You also mentioned the palaces and castles, the Savoy family has asked for some of them to be given back, as it is rightfully their inheritance (just like anyone's inheritance from their parents) but the Republic has kept them, even the smaller more insignificant ones. You also mentioned a castle on lake Geneva, Vittorio Emmanuel built a house in the 1970s in Geneva, on hill, which has now been sold, there was never any castle (you actually show a video of Vittorio Emmanuel being interview in the house). They are the only royal family in Europe who were sent into exile and then allowed back to not get their palaces or at least some of them returned to them. Another thing we must remember is that in 1922 Vittorio Emmanuel III allowed Benito Mussolini to take control of the government to avoid a cilvil war as you said but Vittorio Emmanuel III was a constitutional monarch and Benito Mussolini was then elected by the Italian people in the 1924 Italian general election. Additionally today's Savoy family who like every other royal house in exile and reigning, bestow dynastic orders on deserved individuals, through the dynastic orders of Savoy, there is the Civil order of Savoy established in 1815 and reinstated in 1988, the Order of Saint Maurice and Lazarus established in 1572 as well as the Supreme Order of the Most Holy Annunciation created in 1362. Through these orders, the savoy family has raised millions of Euro's for charities around the world. I really did enjoy the video however, and if I may make some suggestions, why not do a video on the House of Bourbon-Two Sicilies, the Visconti dynasty, the Braganza dynasty, House of Orléans Bourbon-Orléans, House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha-Koháry, House of Hohenzollern, House of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen (Romanian branch). Thank you for sharing and have a wonderful day!
Prince Aimone of Savoy is the head of House of Savoy. Aimone was born in Florence, the second child and only son of Prince Amedeo of Savoy, Duke of Aosta and his first wife, Princess Claude of Orléans. Aimone attended the Francesco Morosini Naval Military School and Bocconi University. After he completed his education, Aimone worked at JPMorgan Chase in the United Kingdom. He also served a period in the Italian Navy's special forces (see Comando Raggruppamento Subacquei e Incursori Teseo Tesei).Beginning in 2000, Aimone was the president of Pirelli operations in Russia. Since 2012, he has also served as CEO of Pirelli Tyre's Nordic division. Now he's head division of Pirelli in Milan. Aimone's engagement to Princess Olga of Greece had the blessing of his father Amedeo. He has two sons, Umberto and Amedeo, and one daughter Isabella. The boys are the only surviving young male members of the House of Savoy. Victor Emmanuel put himself out of the line when he decided to marry a woman against his father will and against the royal family laws. Now he's dead and his son is an illegitimate offspring, born from a weird marriage. Moreover he's a clown and a douchebag, he has never done anything in his life. He continues claiming to be " prince of Venice" when in reality King Humbert II never proclaimed him. He has only two daughters, the first one proclaimed by him " crown princess" totally against the salic law of House Savoy. Long live Prince Aimone, XXVII Duke of Savoy and pretender to the throne of Italy.
Barclay family, please. They are not only ancestors of the British royal family, they founded LLoyd's of London (the ancestors of the Lloyds) and Barclays Bank, which has a trillion dollar capitalization. Barclay brothers are an example, too.
Mussolini used to call the last king of Italy - Mezza cartuccia - ( half cartridge - because of his short stature. In fact the army had to lower the minimum hight to join the army because the king wouldn't qualify. When the king son turned out to be 6 foot 3 I live to your imagination what the Italian populace thought about it....
You left out the Orders of Savoy. The order of St Mauritius and Lazarus and the Order of Merit are still in existence today with many branches in Italy, the USA and even Japan.
The kings of Sweden. Unusual marriages for some. What motivated King Karl XVI to change, his and his family's marriage to commoners. His visit to the Soviet Union incognito, his visit to Japan, and his visit to P.R.C. I could not find any explanation of his interest in labor, and he worked as a laborer at one metallurgical company, and many other utterly different and uncommon behavior. Thank you.
@@BiglerSakura The Bernadottes have always been an egalitarian monarchy, and Oscar I was someone who gave more liberal freedom of speech, press, and other criminal justice reforms. King Carl XV emancipated women and allowed them to have equal inheritance and own property. Carl XV's sister was the first person who liberated Princess Eugenie under the law. King Oscar II, the current King’s great-great-grandfather, was someone who loved pomp, ceremony, and regalia, and he was a big womanizer with multiple mistresses and children out of wedlock. King Gustav V was someone who scaled back the monarchy and refused to have a coronation, and he was the last King of Sweden to exercise political power. King Gustav VI Adolf was a model constitutional monarch who was humble, down to earth, hardworking, dedicated to his job as King, and avoided pageantry and pomp; he taught his grandson, King Carl XVI Gustav to be a humble monarch.
@@oldmoneyluxury there was an event that day and the organizer told us he was there! Then we looked up his wiki and recognized him and asked for a picture
@@the_patriot7 he legitimately has a pasta shop, called Prince of Venice in Westwood. And I believe he owns the whole building and rents out to the other shops surrounding the restaurant too. Man is worth 100 million through business savvy
@derek8149 well it's not surprise me at all . when you have money you can make more money !!! when you don't have money you can't do anything !!! this is the materialistic bullshit life !!!
I say make this the main channel; honestly I thought the other ones were scam channels copying you because they repeated a lot of content. I hope your business goes well from hereon
Dearest friends! I'm glad in spite of the recent RU-vid travails you are still moving forward 'one equal temper of heroic hearts!' I've roped in my husband, friends and colleagues,...the pearls are off, the 'Veuve Cliquot' has been cellared, and we're manning battle stations. I have left some succinct and pertinent observations on their policies at executive level. We might be 'Old Money' afficianados but when push comes to shove we're not above a good old fashioned street brawl! We are clearly not dealing with gentlemen!!
Thank you so much Alison, we have really appreciated your support... and such a poetic, dare we say, Shakespearean message ;) "once more into the breech"... WE HAVE BEEN REMONETIZED - perhaps it was your wonderful appeals to the the better angels of the executive's natures that so pushed them over the edge? :)
@@jackietequila9072 RU-vid demonitised all OM channels. It put the livelihood of all their content contributers and the channel itself; in jeopardy, and this comprises content creators throughout Europe. All the OM supporters rallied together and complained- and it did the trick!! I heard on good authority, that overzealous software applications can cause these anomalies. Thankfully it's all been resolved, and it was all a big misunderstanding, hysterics over (....my hysterics, I love the channels!) People are just wonderful when they put their mind to things!! 🤗
OM TEAM- That's great news! I'm absolutely delighted for you! May you go from strength to strength! 🤗 I live in the Ireland, and there is an interesting history around an old estate, 'Tollymore' Forest Park, Newcastle Co Down, though it might not be exactly what you're looking for. The young earl James Annesley was 12 in 1728 when his father died - his rapacious uncle had the boy abducted, placed on a ship for America, and sold as indentured labour. After 14 years he returned to Ireland to claim his title. Robert Louis Stevenson based the novel 'Kidnapped' on James's experience and more recently 'Birthright- The true story behind the novel 'Kidnapped'- Roger Ekirch. Congratulations again!! 😊
Thank you so much Alison! :) Great idea for a video :) We are currently working on our epic Guinness Family video for next week - also may do an Irish Social Class breakdown soon
His Father just died! And the rule of Primogeniture is why the Duke of Aosta’s claim to the Head of the Savoy dynasty has suddenly taken on more strength because the current Prince of Venice only has a daughter!
Thank you for accepting my request for the Savoys. I very much enjoyed it. Could you please do a documentary on the family that own St. Bernard de Menthon in Savoy? They've lived their for about 1,000 years. And the Austrian Seilern Aspang?
What a great episode! For this, I’m happy to see true history without the sums of money that many have, but the real question I have, is….. is there a chance they’d ever become a monarchy again? Time will tell I guess but what a great insight. Thank you!
You should do both Bourbon Parma and Bourbon Two Sicilies. The last empress of the Austro-Hungarian empire empress Zita wife of Carl of Habsburg was from Bourbon Parma as are many royals today descendants of this dynasty and the same with Bourbon Two Sicilies the family of which still exists and the head lives in Monaco with wife Camilla and 2 daughters one of which is close friend to heir to Danish throne and reportedly going steady. Also Austria-Este another Italian royal family related to the Habsburg dynasty.
I would be interested in a video about the Wallenberg family, a very low profile old money family in Sweden. I believe they once owned a controlling interest in ABB and still own controlling interests in other major corporations.
Well documented and interesting story. Just a bemol the picture shown as the Savoy palace in Geneva is in reality the chateau de Chillon own by the Swiss Confederation and a museum. The Savoy were living in a house in Vesenaz, house sold in 2023. They were mainly living in Gsaad canton of Bern. A shame you did not mention Clotilde Courau and her noble family ascendance. She is the mother of princess Victoria after all!!!!!
Some of them are nice and down to earth, several members live in Mexico City. The youngest daughter of the last king and queen, Maria Beatrice of Savoia lives there together with their grandchildren. Also, her nephews from other sisters have a villa there. The queen Maria José herself lived in Cuernavaca, Mexico, in the 1990s. There are many photos of that period. They are nice, live in harmony with their other Mexican neighbors.
@Anna_Key most countries and its people can't believe the evil of our countries can be involved in. By the time that we will see the truth, by then it will be too late.
They are not really italian, in fact. The family ruled the duchy of Savoie in France for centuries BEFORE becoming kings of Italy during the XIX th century and it didn't las last long.
They were always Italian the counts of Savoy under the sovereign of the Holy Roman Empire. Duke Emanuele Filiberto testa di ferro moved the capital from Chambéry to Torino in 1563. I think Torino is in Italy. They spoke the dialect of Piedmont and french like every noble family of Europe. They built an Italian state from the mountains of Piedmont and Aoste. You wanna know of a foreign dynasty? Bourbons. They were french and they ruled the kingdom of France, Spain and Naples
A half Frenchman who wanted to be king in the land of the republic is a joke! The family that created Italy is the GIULIO-CLAUDIA! Augustus: "in mea verba tota Italia iuravit sponte sua"
