The Pea Farm was built in 1905 to house minimal security offenders and the inmates worked the acres upon acres of fields for there food and board. The crops grown there were not just to feed the prisoners, but to fund the prison. It was also said, that the defiant prisoners that didn't work the fields did not get fed. Ironically, behind the prison held an women's prison and has since been torn down and only reminiscence of the building still remain deep in the woods. The story has been told, that the prison shut down, prior to being torn down and the women's prisoners were sent to the Pea Farm. Many of women were also subject to abuse and being raped by the guards.
Living on the Pea Farm was not easy and the inmates were subjected to neglect and torture at times. Brutality from the guards was not uncommon and many of inmates were beaten to death and some were shackled to the walls if they got into trouble. Next to the prison sits a Potters Cemetery where the inmates was buried and some even say there are unmarked graves on the land and if you dare to start digging up the ground you may find a body.
