A mini documentary on one of Butler County's historic treasures, The Old Stone House, located near Slippery Rock Pennsylvania.
The Old Stone House is located in Butler County near Slippery Rock Pennsylvania. It acted as a pivotal stop for those travel by wagon from Pittsburgh to Erie Pennsylvania in the 1800's. It later played roles in the American Civil War, and the story of Sam Mohawk, who would be charged with murder and be the first and only to face the gallows in Butler County. The Old Stone House later became a farm house before falling into disrepair. In the 1960's, the building was reconstructed using the original building's materials by architect Charles Stotz. It was later purchased by Slippery Rock University. Today, The Old Stone House is one of Butler County's greatest historic treasures.

I live only a half a mile away from the old stone house and i have been inside it many times since I moved here from New Castle in 2006 and I gotta say it is such a beautiful to visit a part history. Thank you to who uploaded this amazing video.

I grew up around there and been gone a long time. My Class in School went on a Field Trip to the Old Stone House once!

Excellent film! My family has always been interested in the OSH as my Grandmother was born there on Nov 19,1886 in what is now the upper left porch. It was built in as a room at the time. My mother has some old documentation -not a lot but it is pretty cool.

Been there. Ate some awesome soup!! Guess Robert "Bob" Shaner has moved on and taken over his town Leechburg, PA in Armstrong County's Museum. Was very surprised to find Bob there. He used to road manage my band "A Diversionary Action" (1967-69). ~ R%ckin Rik

Great job, been there done that......but a well done video. I would have just watched this at home had I known beforehand that it was on RU-vid. The BOC audio was rather craptacular.
