The Old Indian Tuberculosis hospital opened up in the late 1900's for many Chickasaw and Choctaw patients. The Talihina Indian Hospital Was opened up in1938 for all Native American patients throughout Oklahoma, which it was purchased by the Choctaw Nation. After 61 years of operation, the Talihina Indian Hospital closed its doors in 1999 and moved 2 mi. south of this site to a new a facility by the Choctaw Nation. The place had problems with many things in its time, especially, with high of asbestos.
