A little bit of correction : The Colonization of the Philippines DIDN'T start with Magellan; BUT with the arrival of Miguel Lopez De Legazpi expedition in 1565. Remember that the Magellan expedition was to find a route to the spice islands.

Actually joevic meneses, the Spanish Colonization of the Philippines did start with Ferdinand Magellan during 1521, since the explorer claimed the Philippines to be part of the Spanish Empire, naming them Islas de San Lazaro. Over the next several decades, other Spanish expeditions were made, including the expeditions of Ruy López de Villalobos in 1543, and Miguel Lopez de Legaspi in 1565, where the invasion of the country really took off and when a permanent Spanish settlement was really evident, establishing centralized Spanish leadership among the communities.

Clearly Magellan paved the way for later expeditions, that wouldn’t have happened WHEN they did, if it wasn’t for his historical arrival in 1521. What has always been a point of irony to me, is that the Philippines recently (2021) celebrated 500 years of Christianity (Catholicism) in the Philippines - Magellan, 1521. Yet at the same time we celebrate the native chieftain Lapu-Lapu as a hero for killing Magellan in the battle of Mactan. I know; I get it, it’s because he was the first known resistor of a ‘foreign invader.’ Now I’m over simplifying but celebrating one event and praising the person who killed the person who brought it here has always been a bit of a strange irony to me.

According to Philippines yep. But sad to say. Philippines only consider history of people who isn't Muslim. But if you go to the Mindanao especially the southern most part. There's a lot of structure and history there that pre-dated Hispanic colonization. Example would be The Sheik Karimol Makhdum Mosque that located in Barangay Tubig Indangan, Simunul, Tawi-Tawi. Which was build around 1380 and still existed to this day.

Is there an entrance fee to the museum? Those antiques are similar to the ones that can be found in the Syquia Mansion Museum (former Pres Quirino’s wife’s house) in Vigan, also of Chinese origin in 1830.

Also, some tagalog tried to claimed that the oldest catholic church in the Philippines is the San Agustin church in Manila, i laugh so hard that they even put it in Wikipedia 😂 They didn't know that the old name of Basilica Minore Del Santo Nino De Cebu is Church and Convent of Saint Augustine built in April 1565 while the one in manila was built in 1590's 😂 And then the first internet connection in the Philippines ay inangkin din nila at inilagay sa Wikipedia 😂 The first internet connection in the Philippines ay nangyari nung March 29, 1994 sa University of San Carlos via Sprint na internet provider sa USA with 64 kbps. Namatay na yung professor ng USC na nagsabing," we're connected".
