I recently upgraded from the launch model to the oled switch and I’m pretty happy with it. If you only play in handheld it’s definitely worth the upgrade in my opinion.
I have a launch model switch, and I always detach the joy cons, but then I lose them. I was originally planning to upgrade, but after that experience, I just don't think its worth it (at least for me, or someone who can't keep up with things) Plus on top of that it comes with MORE components I cant keep up with, so I'm probably just gonna get a Xbox. I had an Xbox One S in 2017, but I spilled water in the vent by accident so I got a switch. I was originally thinking of getting a Xbox Series X or S, but my first ever gaming device was a 3DS, so i decided to stick with my roots. (ik clown me for not having or wanting a Playstation)
I had both the original and recently bought the OLED. As other has started, if you play in portable mode most of the time, it is a nice upgrade. With louder speakers, slightly larger beautiful screen, and sturdier kickstand, make the OLED version a decent upgrade.
I have a V2 Switch and recently bought an oled. The screen on the V2 is ok, but the oled's screen is vibrant and the speakers are a lot louder. Will be selling my V2 very soon
I have the OLED and I really like it, just feels better overall and the screen of course is nice. But unless you’re really into graphics and pay attention to the small details, it’s really not that huge of a difference unless you have the og switch side by side. Your eyes adjust pretty quick. Like many reviewers have said I’d probably only upgrade from a launch model or if I’m buying a Switch for first time
I wouldn't buy the OLED EVEN if you're getting a switch for the first time bc of the fact that the MK8 Deluxe bundle and individual retailer bundles still exist in abundance Switch games ain't cheap 😅 much as less MK8 Deluxe for a game that came out so long ago.. so your buying a switch for the first time your spending $350 on an OLED just to not have any games So you're really spending $400 just to even play a noteworthy game, whereas if you get a normal switch bundle with MK8 Deluxe you can pair that with Odyssey and BOTW for that $400 price point The OLED price point is very deceptive, I know.. and until we get noteworthy bundles with the OLED it'll stay that way
I love my OLED Switch! I was hesitant on getting one since the upgrades were minimal, but after using it for hours, I made the right choice. 90% of my game time is in handheld mode, and it’s worth it.
I have had the OG Switch, Lite and now the OLED. I loved each one of them for the games library that grows so quickly thanks to so many cheap and fun games. I loved the size of the Lite but lamented the lack of ‘dockability’ - but I understood the raisin d’être of its inclusion in the line up. However, by far, my favourite has been the OLED. Yes, the screen looks great, yes the internals are the same but the build quality and reduced screen bezel size make the thing feel and look more sleek and more modern. But make no mistake, the big reason to get a switch is the games library which is just fantastic…
I upgraded from a switch lite to a Oled and the difference is definitely more noticeable. Now I play my switch more then anything else for the time being. It's pretty great 🔥
The battery life increase from the launch switch is insane. However, I do notice that the fans kick on more and that the joy cons don’t seem as secure like my launch model. Was worth the upgrade for me personally
Upgraded mine from the original 2017 V1 to the OLED a couple of weeks back (despite saying I wouldn’t) IMO it’s been worth it. Screen it’s beautiful. Battery life is better too and those two things alone were worth it. I now find myself playing it in hand-held mode a lot more (in bed for instance) as I always played docked before.
Just recently got the OLED model, along with a 1TB microSDXC card, a screen protector and a handful of games. One of the most fun purchases I've ever made!
@@iphone3gsdivine Lexar PLAY 1TB microSDXC. I didn't want to spend 1.5 as much on a SanDisk. I've read about this card, it works well for people, specifically for Switch.
2:14 Anyone who expects 4k on a handheld device is expecting too much. 4k at that size is pretty much pointless unless you play with it really close to your face and just adds cost at the expense of battery life. 1080p would have been nice though
Switch! The new oled screen looks great and I am a big fan of the black and white color colorway. But I am not upgrading from my old one since I play it docked 90% of the time. Great video as always!
I've recently purchased the Nintendo Switch OLED and I'm excited to get it setup tomorrow. I'm mainly going to use this console in handheld so getting this model was an easy decision. I'm new to the channel but what an incredible review!
Thanks for your honest review. I own the second version of the switch and two switch lite. I like the Oled screen and the kick stand but it's not enough for me to upgrade. If Nintendo decides to upgrade the hardware on the next Switch, I'll upgrade. But till then, I'm fine with the Switch. Great vid 👌 👍.
@@Jdb63 Bought the Turquoise first . Then the blue one came out and had to have it. Reminded me the Nintendo Cube color.( I know it's not the same color ).
I'm on the same boat man i have the launch one and still works as new and is in mint condition(i take care of my stuff), most of my gaming is done docked but from time to time i do some traveling, however i'm having a hard time deciding if i want to upgrade to the oled model to enjoy the bigger and better screen and improved battery life on those times traveling, or just wait for a proper Switch succesor call it Pro or whatever, decisions man.
I think that you should either upgrade to the OLED and only use that, or sell the turqoise Lite, use the blue Lite for handheld and the V2 for docked mode.
I got this switch from Christmas of 2021, it’s the best, I upgraded from a switch lite from when I was 8 to having a oled switch, it’s bigger than than the lite and louder too, It’s depends if you want the oled tho
I've been wanting the Nintendo Switch for a while now and I'm glad I made the jump and purchased the OLED model. I love the fact that I can relax and experience great games in handheld mode. I'm new to the channel, brilliant Review. 🙂
I bought a Nintendo Switch OLED as I’ve wanted one for a while now and what console to get back into gaming. I bought The Legend of Zelda Edition with a controller and 9 games. Fantastic review by the way! 🙂
Fantastic info on Nintendo Switch OLED version. I am not a gamer but a parent doing research on what platform to get my 9-year-old son for his birthday. Mainly plays Minecraft and this video as well as the one on the XBox S were extremely informative. Best out there. Very professional.
I got the OLED Switch as my first switch in the first week of november and I couldn't be a happier man, that screen looks GORGEOUS! But after buying the pro controller I can't play handheld as much as I did before...
I think I’ll probably be picking up an oled model. I play a lot of handheld mode over tv. It’s nice to play and have a movie or tv show in the background while playing.
@@juliolovestacos I got an OLED model, and damn! It looks so good! Playing Hades on it looks so good, people on RU-vid are right; when in person the colours just pop, if you were on the fence of getting an OLED, I’d get one. Sell your old switch on eBay, marketplace or where and make most of your money back.
No one mentions that the oled switch has a “vibrant” color filter automatically turned on and it makes everything look over saturated. The same color filter could technically be applied to the og switch so it’s a little misleading.
You can turn off that if you don’t like it super vibrant. The OG switch doesn’t give you that option. Or are you saying they could add that type of filter with a firmware update??
@@symboltherapper well yeah that option could work on the og switch if Nintendo added it. But when people see the new one and think it’s the oled panel itself, it’s a little misleading because it isn’t. A lot of the reviews are unknowingly praising a cheap color filter
I use tabletop mode a lot with my switch and the new kickstand on the OLED model is a game changer!! It's so much more stable and I don't need to worry about the whole thing collapsing with a minor shake. The OLED screen is also great, especially for those with a lot of dark scenes. I played the Hong Kong Massacre on both my old and OLED switch and it;s just so much easier to see things on the OLED. If you use your switch in any mode other than TV a lot & can afford it, I would say upgrade. but if you don't/can't, you aren't missing out on too much.
I had 2 of the first ones and sold them. When the oled one came out, I only got it because I just got the LG c1 oled TV. If anyone don't got one, then go for oled for sure. If you got one don't worry about the oled one because it's not worth the upgrade.
I love how your content quality remains consistent. You have a top tier set-up. I have recently got my hands on a series x which I can't be happier with. But also would love a switch OLED, but i don't think it's worth upgrading unless you don't own a switch. I will wait for the ps5 slim as I'm sure it will come soon. One day I might re-engage myself with a tech/EDC youtube despite the saturated market. Keep up the great work.
As a day one owner of the switch. The upgrade was 100 percent worth it. I think the switch looks a lot better in handheld and although I went through a docked phase, with this new oled switch I play 80 percent handheld. It looks incredible.
I upgraded from the OG switch to OLED SWITCH version. Love the screen, find myself playing much more handheld than I used to. Definitely recommend Zelda BOW, Mario oddyssey, Mario 3d all stars to name a few.
I wanted to purchase my first ever console but I didn't know what to choose what they offer etc. And your page especially this video made me realize what I wanted the switch and why I wanted it... 🇯🇲 Thank you looking forward to more content
I’ve been happy with my Switch OLED, and at least in my situation personally, I was able to better justify getting this one as I was able to sell my older switch to someone close to me so that they can start experiencing switch and also play online with me :)
iam getting the nintendo switch for my birthday iam going to be 50 iam getting the white one i have not had one before this will be first time i had one
It's weird how you didn't use an identical image or identical game on pause - for side by side comparison with the older model. It would have made it so much more clear to see exactly what is the difference between the black level and so on.
Imo it’s a little disappointing that they didn’t upgrade the cpu, gpu, ram, or something to improve the processing, resolution, or battery. It’s still a great console and it’s only a little more than a normal switch. I am though happy with the 64gb and the stand on the back.
I'll stick with my original switch as I play docked most of the time on my LG C1 :) If I played more on the go would definitely snag this OLED model though.
I have not bought the switch since it first came out in 2017 but I’m considering finally getting the OLED switch after watching your RU-vid video, which was very informative and helpful.Thank you so much as I gained a lot of knowledge from this video 👍🏼
As we are at the cusp of 2022’s end, is the OLED worth a purchase? Or is it best to wait longer until a newer version enters the market? (Switch owner since late 2017)
Upgraded from the v2 to the OLED and I love it. I play mostly handheld so the bigger screen and display was worth it to me. I’d recommend monster hunter rise as one of your switch recommendation asks
I have a switch V2, and while i am tempted, for me it doesnt make much sense. I would like a switch that performs better, and at least gives me stable 30fps. Right now the switch feels like its struggling to even meet that mark with games. Personally, i would wait for a new Switch 2.
Just sold my switch the other week for $300. Bought it in spring of 2020 and played animal crossing for like 3 months straight, then never touched it again. Idk, I feel like the switch is an alright console. A big downside is it’s rare for good games to go on sale so you still pay full price for games that’ve come out 4 years ago. Imo the games library has too many sequels or reboots, was excited for the new advance wars but it’s just a remaster of the first 2 games. The oled model DOES look nice tho for people getting the console for the first time.
I got the oled switch in November and I really enjoy it And I mostly play in handheld mode which the difference from my switch and my friends switch (2017) and my brothers switch (2019) is crazy for handheld mode and the stand is really good too. The metal on the back also makes it feel more premium
good review as always… I still have my Nintendo switch on launch 🤔🤔 still undecided if its worth the money for upgrade.. mine is always docked to my oled tv 😅
You said the battery life is no different from the old pre 2019 model but that is not true. In 2019 Nintendo released a new model of the switch with a more efficient cpu/gpu, which got you almost +2-4 hours gaming time. Yes the battery size is the same, but if you compare this switch with the 2017 model, it does have a better battery life. It has the same battery life as the 2019 model tho
just got one not too long ago, and after watching several videos of the same usual comments about the oled, I can confirm that its true. there is a clear difference between the two as far as visuals and brightness goes. for example I didn't realize how dim my old switch was until I compared it to my new oled. is it worth buying? well I had money to burn so I used it on the oled, its a decent upgrade but if you're hesitant on spending 350 and already have a switch then I'd say just wait on the next gen switch, whenever it releases.
Switch OLED is a good system and I like it but for people that don’t have money to burn, they can take it from someone like me that owns all systems. The short answer is NO. It’s not worth it for someone that can only afford one console. Why would someone that can only afford one console pick the Switch OLED at $349 in a world when the PS5 exists for $399. This is mind-boggling because I have a Ps5 and Switch OLED. Trust me when I say that it isn’t even in the same league. If you take the HD Rumble on the Switch for example, it doesn’t even come close when you compare it to the Ps5 DualSense. For people that have no Switch, the regular and Lite are still good options for people on a budget because it allows them to play all games and save some money. In some countries, the price of the OLED is twice the price of the Lite. This price isn’t justified to me because it has exactly the same hardware, except for a $10 OLED screen. I own a Switch OLED and I still don’t think that it’s worth it at $349. I actually had a little buyer’s remorse after purchasing it and I still love the Lite.
I have just bought the Nintendo Switch OLED The Legend of Zelda Edition and I can’t wait to set it up. I have Monday off work so plenty of time to enjoy playing Breath of the Wild!🙂
Quick correction, the battery life on the oled model is better than the launch switch version because it uses a revised, more efficient processor. the battery size is still the same though.
