If you’re good with Habaneros, you could do a ghost. In my opinion, habaneros hurt more than ghosts. Ghosts are a touch hotter but the burn is less mean. Habaneros sting way more for me. And I like the flavor of ghosts more as well.
@HughsReviews I love the taste of habenero, but they aren't hot enough for me anymore. I don't like the taste of ghosts, and scotch bonnets are hard to get here. Any ideas?

Hello. I watch your videos every time they come out. I have RA and self medicate with alcohol which is no good and I know that. You are a down to earth true person that seems to me to be real. I would really like more info on addiction help from you as you inspire me more than all others. I just want to thank you for all you do and what you do. I love spicy food and peppers but, you are the king when it comes to hot. Raw habaneros are about as far as I can go. Tried Ghost once but seems like it would just ruin the taste of any food you would season with it. Thanks again for for your informative videos and the help you dish out. I have been addicted to strong opiates in the past and had alcohol issues, and I can say without a doubt that hot peppers helped me in recovery and became my replacement drug in some respects. I sleep way better if I've had a good mouth burning session an hour or so before bed. The more often you do it, the more your brain will learn to reinforce this pleasurable activity with dopamine release into the nucleus accumbens (the pleasure centre of the brain). To put it simply - the more you eat chilli peppers, the more pleasurable it becomes in general which in turn will break the pleasure association your brain has developed with alcohol. Please try to stop the alcohol self medicating before you reach my stage of permanent liver damage. I'm 49 and will be unusually lucky if I get more than ten more years of life. Which is only 520 weekends, which feels like no time at all I have left. Stay strong friend, I wish you a good day and success for your future!

There's a cool story behind it. When my brother Tommy was born, my mom and dad brought him home from the hospital on my 4th birthday. I apparently complained and said I wanted a firetruck. The firetruck on my fridge was made the same year my brother was born.

We got a few jalapenos that surprised me at work. One of course being green, then the other two were purple. Those purple were great, but very floral and the heat was good at first but then lit me up! 😂
Jalapeno's are all over the show I find. Had 2 the other day, one was like a green capsicum/pepper (no heat) and the other was knocking on the door to Habanero heat! crazy
Peppers are hotter before they are ripe. Jalapeño peppers can be very hot if not fully ripe. I remember a few years back the local taco bell got some fresh Jalapeño peppers, and they were so hot people were calling in talking about how they were painful to eat, I tried them and they were super hot. The weird part is peppers are hotter when they are smaller and not ripe, but old peppers also get hotter. Once a Jalapeño starts getting wrinkles, they get super hot. You can find hot sauce that is clearly using old or unripe peppers. One I am sure that does is Tapatio. The peppers used are very low on the scale, but the sauce is clearly hotter than the peppers, which tells me they are either using old or young peppers. Not that Tapatio is hot, but it is hotter than it should be. The peppers they use are just 3 thousand Scoville units, which is like a very mild Jalapeño, but Tapatio clearly has more heat than that.
How many heat units? That second one looked pure evil all that capsaiscian in the heart of it gets the WOW factor. I've done the Toe of Satan before reminded me of some sought of Americana Christmas treat. I had an interesting reaction to that gave me a brief spell of hypoglycaemia after the 5 minute mark like my mouth and throat can handle just about anything it's my stomach where I lack tolerance with the Vanaloid receptors so that kind of put me on my back, still not as bad as Pancreatitis though which is most excruciating pain of all, 3rd day back on the wagon so I'll be having a hiatus off the poison for probably about half a year I'm aiming for. Besides the Toe of Satan where I met my match was Trouble Bubble that got me chundering after 5 minutes 😂 great flavour I was really enjoying it too haha once again after the 5 minute mark I just had this look come over my face like I had seen a ghost it's like it all just hit my stomach at once and all I could think of was just run haha 😂

I think we now have a new World’s Hottest Pepper, replacing the current leader: the Carolina Reaper, which Johnny uses for eyewash. Question: What are you going to do when you actually Catch the heat? I guess the only pepper that could fill that bill would be one so hot that you would immediately get an endorphin rush. In the meantime, those of us mere mortals would watch it slowly burn through our tongues 😂
Serious questions, 1- Is it absolutely necessary to digest the pepper to experience how hot it is? 2- Do you prep your stomach prior to eating the peppers, such as, eating rolaids, or charcoal, or something?

Hey Johnny, quick question that you’ve probably been asked a million times now but here I go anyways with it😃…😂 When you get that heat overload, and then your body kicks that endorphin rush in… Why is it that for a newbe, when trying god for bid even a full one of these peppers, it burns them so bad into an absolute panic of pain… extremely intense , but no endorphin rush for them? (In a lot of cases)
I love chasing the heat. It's a healthy addiction. I wish I had better access to fresh pods. The hottest I have ever found in the grocery store is habenero peppers Red, yellow and orange are currently available. I used to grow ghost peppers before I moved to NYC. I mainly get my burn on with hot sauces.
I would go to a habanero. I would start with maybe half a pod. Then work your way up to a whole pod. If you ate the whole habanero, it would feel like a pretty significant jump in heat. You got this

It’s all fun and games till you watch a few of these videos and think of giving this a shot, with a habanero, and fail miserably. First bite, just a snippet of the tip, yes….just the tip….No heat, mmm this is good and tastes like mango I can handle this heat thing! So I take a third of the pepper and I’ll tell you that lots of ice, milk, sweat, and nose blows later, I’m gonna report that I’m good with sticking to jalapeños 😂
Oh Chris, I’m sorry. The jump from jalapeño to habanero is pretty significant so I generally advise just eating half a pod, or even a sliver. It’ll give you a chance to enjoy the flavor without the full commitment of the heat. It will however help you to become accustomed to the different burn. Jalapeños burn but habs sting. Don’t give up. You can really raise your tolerance without hurting yourself. Just gotta do it right. Check out my video about tolerance building. Made it just for this moment

These peppers look a lot like so called habanaro peppers i got from home depot years ago. They had a beautiful fragrance somewhere between a super hot cjili peppers and magos. Tried one with plans to make a sauce with them and here us what happened. Hint of fruity sweetness, then everything went numb, then about 30 seconds later the gates of hell were opened and it was worse than being pepper sprayed in the mouth. It turned out that some ultra hot industrial cultivar ( for seasoning processed food and making OC spray) cross polinated with the habos and made something crazy 🔥 😮

Question about the endorphin rush thing. You had a rush from 3 peppers in this video and were seemingly fine with almost no pain afterwards, but I was wondering if you ever experienced this when doing the pepper eating competitions, for example the video with the UK Chili Queen..did you not get an endorphin rush during that? Seems like it would have come in handy during that type of competition!
In a big competition the endorphin rush hits but brings little relief. Continuing to eat pods after the endorphin drop, the heat rises and it becomes a battle between capsaicin and endorphins, and the capsaicin always wins.
How do you deal with handling these cut peppers by hand? Do you have a good hand washing routine or are you just ok with burning everything else you touch?
I ate 7 Ghost peppers once with no issues. Ate 1 Reaper once and it was fine eating it but the stomach pain got me. No issues on the way out. But my tolerance has been through the roof compared to only a few years ago (I'm 44). I absolutely love torturing myself with ridiculously hot pepers and wings and stuff.
I’m right with you brother. I grew ghost, scorpions and reapers. I ate a lot of the others. I only ate one reaper pod. The stomach pain was so bad I just dehydrated them and they still sitting in my cupboard. 😅
I like habanero's the most personally, they have a great flavor and a solid amount of heat. Anything over ghost pepper territory just doesn't seem to have much flavor. Tried Carolina reapers and it was just a dull burn.

I’m new to this channel. I’ve watched you eat the Louisiana creeper and now this. I’m shocked at your tolerance. I’ve grown everything from scotch bonnets to Carolina reapers and I’ve never been this cool headed eating some of the hotter ones. I mainly eat hawaiian chili peppers now which probably don’t even hit a 1 on your heat scale. How do I get where your at? Just eat more every day? I’m so impressed and at the same time super jealous. So, I don’t do heat but I sort of understand the pain to pleasure jump. I get massages that leave me bruised and bleeding at times. It’s terrible at first but about 15 min in I get this flood of pleasure that is so good it makes it all worth it. I’m assuming that’s what this hot pepper stuff is like.
Big ones from extracts, sauces, not so much. The only way for me to get an endorphin rush from hot sauce is to drink a bottle or two. Way harder on the stomach than pods. Thanks for watching and for your question
