Hey everyone, and thanks for all of the great feedback! This video is now 4 years old (damn I was a big boy 90 pounds ago), and I have learned things since making it. Back then, I thought all coils attached the same way to tanks (screw in, like the tanks I have used). I have since learned that some do not attach that way. I am not going to change the title to the video, 4 years after the fact, so I will drop this update instead: This will work in all systems where the coils screw in to the tanks. If you have some kind of push in system, where there are no threads on your coils, it probably will not work. Teflon is meant to seal screw threads, and that is how I intend it to be used in this solution. My bad. That is all
Hi, thanks for making this video. My husband uses voopoo and the coils just stick in, they aren't threaded. The leaking is bothering him. Could you reccomend a vape unit suitable for trying this technique with? Thank you so much.
I reckon your method good still work on push in coils if you could buildup underneath the o ring to create a tighter seal when its pushed into the tank
yeah now days there is a bunch of good tanks that doesnt leak at least if you dont tilt them upside down... But I am looking for solve my problem for leaking those small pods that look like a pen! Been thru several vape pens, all F ing leak so frustrated!
I cannot believe I hadn’t thought of this. The simplicity is blinding. The fact that I am a full blown mechanic and need to deal with sealing threads for oils and liquids almost daily makes me ashamed. Thank you, kind sir, for lighting my path. No longer will I have to blow the juice back out the air holes and wipe down my entire mod several times a day. A huge irritating weight has been lifted from my shoulders.
You sir have provided pro RU-vid vape tier advice, as we know they create these issues to keep customers coming back, as soon as you showed a smok tfv tank I knew this was worth watching all the way through.
Kennedy McGovern I’m writing this review to let you know that your Teflon tape fix works also on my RTA!! Three weeks ago I purchased a Hellvape Rebirth RTA. I was inches away from throwing it in the trash but then I watched your video! Then I said to myself if it works on standard screw in coils why wouldn’t it work for this Tank too! So today I broke out my Teflon tape and what do I have to lose? So far it’s working GREAT! Who’d ah thunk it? A .05 cents to fix a $40 dollar problem!! As my dad used to say,”sometimes a little common sense will go a long way”!! Thanks for sharing this video with the rest of us who can’t see the simple fix through all the trees!!
Hey D… on what part of the RTA did you put the Teflon tape? Since RTA’s are essentially comprised of the deck, the chimney, and the tank, I’m not seeing which part could be taped. Thanks.
@@wayneg.2342 Morning Wayne, are you having trouble with a leaking RTA? My Mike Vapes Rebirth leaked right out of the box! I tried everything, things you shouldn’t have to do on a brand new RTA. The first Rebirth I bought the air ring was on crooked and the screwdriver/coil depth jig was missing. Thankfully I’ve been dealing with the same vape shop since they opened over 2 years ago so I was able to exchange it! This time all the parts were there, machine work was spot on! After building my deck I put everything back together and began filling it up, JUICE WAS POURING OUT!! 1 thing about Vaping that really gets under my skin is E-JUICE on my fingers and on my mod! What type of tank do you have?
@@dfighternelams6387 Hi friend. I think I’ve nailed it down. It only happens when I refill. I’ve figured out that when I screw the cap on it creates air pressure which pushes juice through the air flow (bottom air flow deck). So I figured out a way to prevent it from leaking. After refilling, as soon as I put the top on the tank I flip it upside down to finish screwing it on then leave it sitting upside down for just a minute. This allows the air pressure to dissipate through the tank (air holes) without it leaking. The trapped air needs to escape. Flipping it over and setting it upside down for a minute or so after refilling provides time to allow the air to vent through the air holes without making a mess. Thanks for the reply. 🙏
@@wayneg.2342 Good Morning Mr Wayne, after reading your post it makes me think how many of the, not only Rebirths but almost all RTA tanks so-called reviews are bogus! I know they’re getting paid for the video but that’s no reason to lie! I started using RTA tanks 2 years ago. My first was a VandyVape Kylin M which I still use from time to time, reason is mesh coils are a different story. I’d be willing to bet nowhere in any video review did you find anyone of these paid con artist telling you they leak! I’ve read a lot of comments on different social media platforms concerning leakage.
I am a big vapor, and a big RU-vid watcher. How the heck did I not know about this 4YEARS AGO!!!! I threw out so many tanks. I just did this to my v9 baby beast tank that I love AND IT WORKED!!!! I LOVE YOU !!!!!❤
I have a voopoo drag h80s. One week old. The weather was very hot. I left my pod at home and when I got back home at the end of the day, I open the pod to see that it had leaked. The O-ring was soft and spongy and juice was seeping thru. I used your technique. I took plumbers tape and wrapped it around the O-ring. It totally stopped the leak. Thank you!
@@bognrden7630 I lay the tape flat as I wrap it around. FYI I had to cut around the coil to expose the air holes. No leaking still. If you purge before you vape you will push liquid down under and accumulate excess liquid. I check every day. Still good to go. The only moisture would ba small amount of condensation depending on if I chain Vape a lot.
@@bognrden7630 Directly over the O-ring. You have to cut around the coil close to the O-ring and keep the air holes open. Better to work with 1/4" tape. If you use 1/2: tape, you'll have cut it to make narrower to work with.
Looks like everyone already said what I was thinking, so I'll just say thank you so much.. P.s. I hate it when someone yaps halfway through the videos before getting to the point. I skip through till i see the subject.
THANKS so much man i had spent hundreds of dollars trying to stop leaks. new tanks all kinds of stuff this $1.00 trick fixed it all you rock man best hack ever
Wow! Amazing, indeed. For the first time my hands and vapourizer unit are dry for the last 10 minutes after applying dental floss to my coil upon watching this video. Thank you very much dude! You are a life saver.
Thanks Kennedy for making this video. It seems so simple now, I had never considered these tanks as plumbing systems before. As soon as you said that my mind went immediately to threads and teflon. Great deduction.
Man, I can't thank you enough! All this time and I just found you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Dude this is the most profound solution to ever exist. You just saved the lives of people around me who other wise would have benefited from my wrath of anger from my leaky vape! Thank you. Life can go on….
This method is working for me, so far. I used it on a Cerberus tank for the Aegis X. They still leak in 2022 and this method still seems to work. Thanks for posting. You are right, none of the other videos actually provide solutions but rather give you a "have you tried unplugging your router" type of "solution".
Thanks for the solution and for taking the time to make this video. On my smok, as long as I screw in the bottom of my coil tight first and then screw in the top of the the coil, that was the only way I could keep mine from leaking.
After coming across your video it saved me from throwing away two FP Blitz tanks. Iam now enjoying them as thanks to you !! What a great hack, so simple but your the man that has no doubt saved loads of tanks being thrown out with the trash. Thanks for the vid man !!!
Kennedy, I must congratulate you! If this advise doesn't totally fix the leaks of e-juice through the airflow holes, then it will most certainly dramatically decrease the amount that runs out. I just tried it on my Geekvape Mero tank (that they converted from a pod to a normal tank by adding a 510 screw base on the bottom) which leaked like crazy only while I was filling it. But I mean REALLY leaked! Not like just a drop, but a millimeter of liquid would escape out of the tank through the airflow holes during filling! Because it uses B-coils that are not screwed in, but jammed into the tank, I wrapped some Teflon tape on the top of the coil, where it enters the chimney, and a little less tape on the bottom of the coil, under the o-ring. Like magic, the amount of juice that escaped went down to like one drop! And I am certain that if I find the correct number of rolls for the top and bottom of the coil, that the leaking would stop completely! I can't thank you enough for using your logic, and great reverse engineer thinking to solve this issue, which occurs on almost every tank with bottom air intake! I will spread this advice to my vaping friends by sending them the link to your video. I watched so many BS advice videos on YT about how to fix this problem, but this actually works perfectly if done right. And because once I did it, it seemed so simple and obvious, it was a sure sign for me that it's the correct answer to the question how to stop bottom airflow tanks from leaking. KENNEDY, YOU ARE A GENTLEMAN AND A WIZARD! THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge from Serbia!
@@i8y8 In the case of my Mero tank and B coils, on both ends. I used a couple of turns of teflon tape both on top and on the bottom of the coil. Because the chimney inserts into the coil on top, and there is another O-ring on the bottom to keep the coil in place.
Sir I found your video last night. I’ve had it to my ears with vape systems bc of the leaking. You’re absolutely right his solution was wrong. I bought my scar mini two effing days ago. N it was leaking in my mouth on my clothes. So irritating. My husband went n got Teflon n put it on the coil. LEAKAGE GONE. your a god dammed GENIUS!
I almost tried this but I was concerned if the heat from the coil would cause issues with the teflon, I'm gonna give it a try now because of you, thanks brother!
I never thought of this, but I put new coils in all three tanks and my first one leaked like crazy. I had another tank that always leaked for some reason. No more. Such a simple idea. Thank you!!!
This seemed to work on my TFV9, thank you so much dude. Just 1-2 wraps around the base of the coil, screw it in and thats it no more liquid pouring out of the airholes. Before this i wasted like 4 coils and tried everything i could find online lol, surprised to see the solution is this simple haha. Again, thanks!!!
I am a mechanic, and that makes sense. In fact it is so simple its genius, I've have 3 or 4 machines destroyed because of this problem , next one gets the "thread tape" that is what we call that in Australia anyhow. You're a mad dog thank you sir. I just noticed this is 4 years old. Yeeesh could have saved some time and money.
Haha, it's 4 years and 90 pounds ago. Every time someone comments under it, the thumbnail pops up on my screen to remind me of how big I once got. It's the perfect regular reminder to keep eating healthy!
@@kennedymcgovern5413 happens to the best of us brother. Awesome job. Also thanks for the advice, my desk looks like a vape graveyard. Saved a fortune and my sanity.
THANK YOU! YOU ARE 100% CORRECT. WE APPRECIATE IT, I DON'T HAVE TIME TO FIDDLE WITH THESE TANKS. COMMON SENSE ALWAYS PREVAILS!! YOU'VE SAVED ME ALOT OF TIME AND $$$$$$!! 2024 and still watching!!!
I absolutely loved your video, I so badly wish people were more like you. Effing stud! Thank you so very much!!! And very entertaining video! You should continue to make help videos on various issues, your flow is priceless and could end up making you some hella bank.
Thank you so much. I tried everything before arriving at your video. The teflon tape worked like a charm. I was going through e-juice like a maniac, always greasy and leaking...now, bone dry. You're a genius sir, thank you.
i havent seen ONE smart developed vaporizer YET.. so much so.. that i am tempted to make my own.. btw. good video !! nailed it (one major part of the problems)
I've had leakage problem with juice leaking out the o ring of the coils and I do the same thing with teflon tape. I take the o ring off and put a thin wrap on then o ring over it and fixed my leak issue.
Simple solution.. don't know why I never thought about it?.. figures given all the thin crappy seals on these tanks that better sealing would fix it! Thanks dude.
FacePalm!!! I've worked on our cars and have replaced too many seats and valves in our old house's plumbing over the years, yet never thought of this...sheesh🤦🏼♀️ Thank you!!✌️
So my boyfriend pulled some of that tape out (I guess every man has some) 🤣. I just went threw 3 tanks in 2 weeks and right now it's working !! 💪 a big fn Thank you !!! It was really pissing me off 😒 😤 My tank was leaking everywhere! So far so good 👍 👌 The other videos were ridiculous 🙄 THANK YOU !
Haha, you are correct. Every man has some teflon in his toolbox. Glad it worked, and tell your boyfriend his man card has been renewed for another year!
You’re a legend. I just got a Geekvape S100 kit a few days ago, changed the juice once and it started leaking like crazy. Tried this and it worked like charm. Thank you!
I thought of this idea, just never implemented it. I got a TFV9 Smok tank. It's crap, like serious crap! I bathe in vape juice! The best tank and coil system I ever had was a Crown II tank and coil. The coil is threadless and just gaskets top and bottom. Has never leaked... I mean like a drop on a rare occasion. Best tank imo to this day! Simplicity wins! I am back on Crown II tank in fact. Like you, I heard a million solutions for this problem so I'll try your solution and report back. Thanks for pointing this easy solution out
I got started with vaping and after spending a lot of money buying new ones, thinking they were faulty (which technically they are) and many embarrassingly dodgy looking wet spots in the front of my jeans, this particular problem put me right off them, until i saw your video 6 hours ago, so i came back to give my man the thumbs up, I only need one, but now have five fully functioning! Thank you sir! What a gem... Oh and also another thumbs up for a fellow ex mil gen x 👌🏻
Had the exact same issues as you & many. Did all that searching w/ no resolution too. Left SO frustrated, feeling there HAD to be a way AND that I couldn't keep wasting all this money... on $hit that doesn't effin' work!!! Was esp difficult then, considering there were less videos, more 'forums' & lots more of the sub-ohm type plug/play coiled tanks than anything else. That said, after trying countless tips, tricks, even modifications... NO amount of slightly closing, flipping over THEN sealing top fill, etc etc. worked. Not even the dental floss (yup, heard that one too) What did, however... was done accidentally at first, but then made SO MUCH SENSE. It worked like a charm ever since & couldn't be easier. Whether a sub-ohm tank OR RTA (given that it's been properly wicked... which can also cause flooding/leaking) I first, made sure that everything was tightly threaded, when assembling..ESP coil itself. Then, w/ anything top-fill & bottom airflow.... any time I was filling, esp when RE-filling... I'd FULLY CLOSE OFF bottom airflow BEFORE opening top. I'd refill, re-seal/close top, then..... re-open airflow. Vape as usual & ta da..... no flooding & NO leaking.. no matter. Just like when we were kids trying to take liquid out of a glass w/ a straw. The magic trick (maintaining of internal pressure =same) of putting a finger on top to seal THEN removing straw... w/ liquid held inside, "until". :) If there was the slightest break in pressure tho... finger moved OR even a slight crack in the straw... not only would it leak, it didn't seem to work right, either. Now-a-days, I do it without even thinking. CLOSE any airflow completely, open top, refill, close top, re-open airflow, vape. In fact, I have tanks from YEARSSSS ago, some... still have liquid in them (I know, eww) sitting on a shelf. Not one drop is on the tank OR on the shelf & we're talking yearS. Back then, bought & tried 'em all... Every darn version of Smok (with their tons of coil options too) .... Innokin, Kanger, HorizonTech, VooPoo, GeekVape, Falcon, Vaporesso, Aspire. Nearly 9 yrs into vaping & still a stellar vape for flavor/vapor, esp out of a tank = Aspire Cleito120. A super easy to assemble & use, no fuss, not too expensive plug/play tank w/ great flavor & vapor. Around 88w = hard to beat imho! No flooding, no leaks.... + no tape needed. ;) Hope someone newer to vaping, also struggling.. comes across this & it helps. It's the only reason I'm even leaving this comment... remembering just how frustrating it was!!!! Wondering (& even writing to some of them) why manufacturers don't instruct the closing of airflow when filling for best performance, etc.... + why most reviewers never showed or advised that (even if.. most did close it first, too) #ABillionLives ~ Live long(ER) & vape on!
I had to subscribe purely for the solid advice youve shared. Ive been looking for this answer, for far too long. As another commenter said - the simplicity is blinding. Teflon tape is a go to of mine for so many other applications, Im surprised Id not thought of this either.
Awesome! I have a collection of stupid tanks with like a week use. Finally fed up and found your video. And low and behold I have a fresh pack of Teflon tape sitting directly in front of me! Thank you
13 years of vaping... thirteen! I cannot tell you how many tanks rdas etc I've scrapped because of leaking. Minimum of 30, over the years. Cannot believe applying a plumbing solution to a leak never occurred to me! Really really hoping I can tweak this to work on leaking rdas, also. I've got a profile rtda that leaks chronically in rda form, and it's giving me fits. Just ordered 6 rolls of Teflon tape, so I'm loaded for bear. Thanks so much for a truly innovative old school solution to a persistent problem. Hope it's OK, going to save link to your vid so when I see someone on vape forums complaining about leaking, I can send them your way. ;) and seriously, sir.... you rock.
Hey Rachel! Checkout the new "Wotofo Profile X RTA" a 8ml Topairflow Atomizer that can be operated with single, dual coils and mesh without changing the Base of the Atomizer it can be operated with single, dual coils and mesh... All in one! Leakproof as well and outstanding flavor! About 40.- bugs... It is a One of a kind Atomizer.
Thats so trueee, nothing worked like this solution. Wish i saw this video 10 tanks ago. More power to you man, keep the good work and the professional vids.
This is the best vape video I've seen .I had a proton mod I destroyed due to leaking tank. Your solution works, the others don't. Thanks for your advice.
I just added a comment. I'm sorry it's a couple of years late but I've just seen it. It's the best and simplest solution I've seen to a major vaping problem. there's so many stupid solutions out there and yours is one of those "Why didn't I think of that?" It's obvious! But we didn't of it you did . Thanks.
I have to agree that you literally solved this ridiculously simple problem with a no nonsense and proven method to prevent liquid from leaking from threaded items... my hats off to you and you definitely earned my new subscription! One question though... I've had this humongous RTA from cloud chasers Inc called the BFDFT and for a good while the thing never gave me and issue... I ended up moving on to other tanks/rda's etc but recently decided to tinker with my old gargantuan rta so I cleaned everything up and reassembled it and started filling up the tank only to realize that the juice was literally POURING out of the bottom of the tanks glass... now I've checked both the top and bottom orings/seals and even tried two new ones that came with the tank but I noticed that the glass isn't friction fit to the seals and can literally be spun in circles with the tank full assembled! There is absolutely no cracks or tears or issues with them of any kind but the glass doesn't seem to have enough pressure on each end to keep the glass retained in place to keep it from spinning and I am at a loss as to how to fix it... I've screwed both ends of the tank down as far as they will go but I can turn the glass 360 degrees with basically ZERO friction... idk if you have any ideas, but if so I'd sure appreciate any input or ideas to fix this issue because it was and expensive and unique tank that I hate to never use again due to the loose glass issue... thanks in advance for any input you can give!! Awesome video man, screw them trolls! Lol
Hey there! Hopefully you've found a solution by now, but if not... maybe try a specialty o-ring. You can look for a thicker o-ring that has the same inner diameter measurement. This way, it fits the same around the tank, but will push out against the glass. maybe try Grainger or McMaster Carr or The O-ring Store. I Hope this helps.

Great solution even if it makes me feel dumb for me to not think that before. I even had this Teflon’s near my liquid stash yet I never saw the solution even it was front of my eyes. You are great man.
Great suggestion! I was about to toss this tank! I checked the inside o-rings, and of course, there were no issues but I changed them anyway. Still leaked. I had thought the same thing you did it had to be between the seal of the new coil and the tank. Thanks for the helpful advice!
omg, i was skeptical at first - but a 15 minute trip and $1.39 on plumber's tape literally saved me from chucking my TFV18 in the trash from the leakage. Many thanks kind sir!
Dude, you just made my day, I’m in the UK & had this leaky problem with scion plexus mesh coil, works great, but fiddly with my big fingers but worth the effort, no more greasy mod!.. 👍😁
Yessir he is right, I just did it and apply a teflon on the coil on the both ends No leaking The vape sound like the air is flowing only from the right spot Try it it takes 2 min
🤦♂️that’s definitely a DUH moment. Been vaping all these years and have even done plumbing years ago and never thought of this. As a GenX myself I should have thought of this. Thank you sir
Well... You're a real problem solver! i tried many things, i thought it was my fault, and you came and show me that, i have no problems anymore and i thank you for the time you took to make a video . Thank you so much! Bye, thanks again!
You da man!! My tfv8 v2 has been leaking right out of the box. I tried other solutions like trimming the coil leads and pushing the o-ring down in the middle. Didn’t work... till I came across your video with the Teflon tape, I wrapped the coil threads about 1.5 times around the base of the coil, screwed it back in and boom, problem solved. Thanks Man
Thank you sir ! I will try this ! Thank you ,I'm so pissed off with my l200 x tank the actual device is fine. But the tank is terrible. I'm definitely getting an aftermarket one to put on it. And Geekvapes customer service is awful. I have to pay to ship a fractured broken tank to them and don't have a guarantee of getting the correct color I bought nor do I have a say if I get new coils that came with the original kit that I paid for. It leaks ejuice into the base tray and it also spits hot ejuice into my mouth. And yes I've got the setting set correct wattage for the coil and the correct pg level in my ejuice . So annoyed. Hopefully it will hold thanks again!
This is crazy good advice I don't know why I never thought of this and I'm a maintenance technician I gave up on the cloud beast tank because it leaked like crazy🎉
thanks! gonna try this, I'm sure it will work because it makes sense been dealing with this for over a year since I started vaping rather than smoking, been driving me crazy! thanks!
I did this on crappy pre-built Coils back in the day. With the high end machines and self wicking, this was no longer needed, as these just didn't leak any longer, straight outta the box. But new probs arrived with self-wicking and building your own coils. Sometimes I had huge leaking, esp. on tasty tanks with huge honeycomb airflow mechanism. I just pulled out one of those and the spilling came back into my house. Guess I have to try something new so the juice doesn't gush into the airflow holes. Sadly, Teflon tape won't do. But I bet this video was helpful to the mechanical impaired :D
From an oilfield pipe fitter. Righty-tighty Lefty-loosey. Same thing goes with Teflon tape. If you wrap it in the same direction as you would tighten it, you'll never have any issues. It's the right way. I can't tell you how many green-horns, or people who just never use it, I have to show that to. Anyways, hope it helps. Now that almost everything is push-in, pod-style, condensation is the major issue.
I wasted probably about 120 mL over a year and worse than that have not been able to make use of the big tank nor have dry hands after vaping. Within 5 minutes of putting it together I pretty much knew for a fact that you did indeed provide the solution. A half hour later, still not a drop wasted. Thanks so much.
Thank you so much!!! I have leaking at a nautilus 3 after a few falls on the ground. His solutions working 100%!!! Again, thanks, i was ready to buy a new one!!!
dude, genius. i had some teflon tape next to me on my desk for months since i did some plumbing work... pretty much sat here not using my vape because i couldn't figure it out and was sick of dealing with it. just threw it on the threads, will see what happens. great job man. would like to add i'm using the TFV18 which people have reported a leaking issue with, so if you have one try it out.
@yukonstriker1703 LMAO I already got it done, I just got the notification now. You need to rethink your life if all you can do is comment insults. Grow up.
