2:26 Jack, this is actually provided by Oda, its from the Manga, SBS section, before the crew left East Blue he made this as answer to lots of similar questions on how the Merry is from inside...then the anime used that all for reference, like showing the Dining table, and Cannon storage, plus Boys' room where they sleep, and Nami getting sick, her own room. When I saw it, I felt "Oda is a NERD"!!
I think most, if not all, types of anime productions have concept art of the commonly used scenery. Not saying that doesn't make him a nerd, but most manga artists would probably do those things.
@@jakob3044 Yea, my mind was blown on the detail of "how to bring up water, by the cycle pulley system", he included that in, and some minute details as well..If you wanna see, checkout Going Merry detailed view by Oda.
agree and disagree. agree because this art style/animation is probably from a newer gen of watcher that doesn't feel like watching a 1999 animation or older animation in general ,i disagree because i like the vibe of the og animation(I'm still going to watch) but it's probably not the same feeling when i first got into one piece. other than that it's your own thing so i don't really mind what you prefer 😂😂
I'm jealous of these kids and new people that would start with The One Piece as their first introduction to the series. Wish I could had been so lucky...
Imo this is probably the best place to change the voice actors to younger ones! Because the OG cast are old now so if this goes for another 15-20 years, I don't think they'll be in working condition by then!
I feel like recast the VAs is something needed. The OGs are iconic but the anime is already 20 yrs old, even if we say that the new one will take half the time to get where we are, that's 10 yrs on top of that. Luffy VA has 69 (nice) yrs old already.
Yeah, they are old. Even the youngest is WAY up there. I think just for safety they'll have to recast as, sad as it is, we're going to start losing them probably before this project is finished, unless they're going to use some AI replacements or something. As iconic as the current VAs are, I don't think they are irreplaceable.
The can copy & paste and reuse the original voice actors, bcoz they only upgrade the animations, right? With our modern & AI features, so it's make easier for them
Its not just the hotter climate its how they spend the time they could be lining in the desert but if they dont sunbathe then they remain pale@@TheMarch-jn3rz
@@TheMarch-jn3rzLet’s be real here if they put in so much detail as to even make food people eat more realistic to the setting then I would hope for tanner characters… and I’m not just saying that because I want to see One Piece babes with tanner skin. *nervous sweats*
4:01 in my opinion, I hope they change the VA's. They're looking for longevity in the series and if they want to redo the whole thing in about 12 years (or less, depending on how they run the series) they need to get new VA's due to the age of the current ones. I hope they get younger, maybe just starting out people who sound enough like the original cast that OG fans won't be salty, but maybe just adults (18 to mid 20's) or at least younger so they can all continue to have a young, spritely performance without suffering the lingering effect of aging. Don't get me wrong, the original SH's are killing it, but slowly but surely the original cast is being replaced by younger folk because the older folk can't do it anymore (or have unfortunately passed). Jinbe was the first of the lot, but more are starting to follow suit.
the more i think about it, the more im convinced theyre gonna get new voice actors. first of all bc the original ones are still doing the normal one piece anime? i would imagine that probably already takes up quite a lot of their time lmao. also they are all in the mid 50s up to their mid 70s. idk if they have another full one piece anime in them. though to be fair, its really hard to imagine anyone other than mayumi tanaka as luffy... itll be sad, but i think we need to prepare ourselves emotionally for different voice actors. i grew up with a completely different set of voice actors for them (im german), so i guess im well prepared to accept other voices into my heart 😔
I have a thought that our boy, Inaki, is learning Japanese just for this role. It'd be pretty fucking cool if LA Luffy did the voice for Kit Studios Luffy. He's gotten pretty damn good at it, too.
@@7thlittleleopard7 doing voice acting in a language youve only just started to learn is pretty much impossible i would think, voice acting is not just talking into a mic you know 😅
@@GalekC it could be! however you can clearly hear that for example, frankys voice actor already sounds a lot older and kind of struggling in some ways...his voice is still fine i think, but i cant imagine him voicing bon clay now ,bc he has a more high-pitched voice than franky....idk id love if the OGs would do it, im just saying im not sure they CAN
@@jannecapelle_art I mean, while this is true, he's been learning for a while and does VA in both English and his native language for the Live Action, and he has time to improve, so it's not an impossibility.
I know people who are not starting One Piece because they are now waiting for the new version. They have all heard of the pacing issues. They may blame the outdated art style and the number of episodes, but the deal breaker is the horrendous pacing. Jojo is of similar length to One Piece but has only got 200 episodes, as opposed to 1100 of One Piece's. I genuinely cannot see how you can compress the entire journey till now into just 200 episodes without rushing (just Wano was 190+ episodes). Toei is cooking with the animation since Wano and that has continued in Egghead, but unless Netflix messes this up big time, this will be a huge success from the very start! PS I hope Netflix adapts the cover stories!
wano was 190 episodes because Toei dragged out everything. one piece chapters are only 12-18 pages on average. Wano is 149 chapters long. so in 191 episodes that is a 0.8 chapter per episode pacing on average. the average anime covers 3.3 or so chapters per episode. JJK has covered 136 chapters in 47 episodes (2.9 chapters per episode). that’s how slow one piece’s pacing is. at a normal anime pacing, wano would be 45 episodes lol.
@@cwega2463 I agree with everything you are saying. I know how the math works. All I am saying is that it is difficult to imagine all of that being compressed within just 45 episodes. I hope we don't miss any of the emotional punches and don't rush the anime in a hurry to fix the pacing.
@@the_Nameless_One99 I'm expecting old fans of the anime will experience a pacing whiplash when watching the remake for the first time. It might even be difficult for me to adjust seeing the events in One Piece moving so fast.
Inaki Godoy is learning Japanese, and sounds really good. Maybe he could end up being live action Luffy and Luffy's VA if they are changing them. I love the art style. The coziness of it reminds me of originally falling in love with One Piece, and it gives me studio ghibli-ish vibes.
Condensing won't be all that difficult, Toei added all kinds of scenes and things that never happened in the manga, just cutting those would make a difference. The sketches of the Merry come directly from Oda. He had it that detailed in the manga in an SBS. The voice actors will change. They have to. Of our main cast, Nami's VA is the youngest at 55. The oldest is in his mid 70s. There will be new voices.
When you said "Look at this one frame on the monitor, it's like a painting!" my brain automatically went to Stanley Kubric's motto "Every frame a painting" and now my expectations are set so high. Best of luck nakamas.
I dont think the Va's are gonna be the same. They are old. And they been doing the same characters for the last 25 years. One would think they wanna rest lol
The Merry - as well as the sunny later and a couple of other ships - have been disected before. By Oda himself, as bonus pages in the Manga. WIT basically just used those sketeches too.
Hot take, The One Piece needs a brand new VA cast. The cast for Toei is 50-60+. They won't last forever, and it's good to give new VAs a chance. As long as the voice fits the character, it'll be fine.
At 6:12 that censored figurine is of C.C. (pilot suit version) from Code Geass. I could never mistake that one bc it's iconic xD Edit: wtf somebody got it in the chat instantly xD had to watch a little bit more that's crazy xD
They will 100% percent change the voice actors. Most of them are already quite old, imagine working on this version besides the OG anime. And The One Piece will continue for many years after the OG ends. They would want to hire new younger voice actors that are prepared to do this job for decades, same as the OG crew. I love the voice actors for the anime, but i would not want them on this different project. It could for some people cheapen the remake series, seeing as the differences would be slightly less between versions.
I'm glad they went with a soft design update for the characters instead of a redesign. The characters looks very consistent to more recent versions. I'm really looking forward to seeing this.
Something that I feel will make a lot of difference: **Spoiler if you didn't watched the end of onigashima** They have the chance to sell the cartoon side of the anime a lot more so when we reach Gear 5 it feels more natural of a transition.
A condensed version One piece will still be 700+ episodes long. Keep in mind that Wit Piece is meant to be a manga accurate remake which ideally should be adapting 2-3 chapters per episode. One piece also thrives on little details showing back up. If they start cutting content to make something like Alabasta a 13 episode arc, that would be the worst case scenario.
@@cwega2463 If you exclude fillers, there are 429 episodes pre-time skip, back when the pacing of the anime was good. If they don't want to rush through the story, 350 episodes should only take them to the time skip.
@@misterwhyte the average anime covered 3.3 chapters per episode. pre time skip one piece is 429 episodes without filler. they cover 596 chapters in that time. so 1.3 chapters per episode on average. that’s still extremely slow. you anime only fans don’t realise how slow the anime is.
@@cwega2463 I beg to differ. First, I do also read the manga. Second, the anime was perfectly fine pace wise pre-time skip. I'm old enough to remember pacing wasn't a complaint back then. Does it mean it's the best? No. Is it possible to go a little faster and have a nicer, tighter edit? Yes. But to get to Egghead in 350 episodes, you're looking at like 150 episodes pre-time skip. That's insanely fast. You'd be losing a lot in terms of overall impact, especially during the more emotional moments. As for your point regarding 3.3 chapters per episode on average, I don't know where you got that number from, I couldn't find it when searching on Google. That being said, let's say it's correct for the sake of the argument. I'm assuming then that this is looking at all adaptations across the board. It doesn't take into consideration that some less popular mangas are adapted into short series that cut a lot, nor is it accounting for the fact that action and dialogue don't require the same pace. When translated to the screen, dialogue heavy stories require much less time to get through than action heavy ones. That's a well-known fact in the film industry. With a manga that's primarily dialogue, you can easily adapt 3 or 4 chapters per episode, I'm willing to believe that, but that's not possible with an action heavy manga. So looking at an overall average is pretty pointless. At the end of the day, I would rather they go a little too slow than try and pack up as much as they can in each episode. One Piece is a beautiful journey, we should savor it. If they can redo the whole thing in like 600-700 beautifully animated episodes, I'd be very happy personally.
Tbh the only thing I’m kinda worried about is if all the big/emotional moments will still hit the same Bc when some anime remake iconic scenes it just doesn’t hit the same
Have you watched the One Piece movie : episode of Alabasta? The farewell scene was more emotional than the scene in the series! And better bgm as well!
Never knew Rurubu as a book magazine used as reference for islands in OnePiece by Oda. Now a collabration between em exists as Rurubu x OnePiece, available to purchase...anyone interested look up its contents.
There has been a diagram of the whole interior of Sunny, which is how we know that the boys all have hammocks but Nami and Robin sleep in one big bed together.
I am assuming they will change the voice actors. There is no way them old ass people can do it for as long as the remake will probably go. They are all in their like 50s and 60s. Some are older.
I definetly agree they have to find the new VA, we cannot force the og one to continue with this project, like you said this project probably its going to take a lot of time to produce. So i feel like when they are done at toei, they are going to take a rest and probably retire !!!
The can copy & paste and reuse the original voice actors, bcoz they only upgrade the animations, right? With our modern & AI features, so it's make easier for them

i saw it now in countless reactions but i had to buy that god damn shirt now. its like a perfect blend of op art and a normal desing on a shirt. 4 sure a point to start a conversation with rdm people who know what that is ^^
Awesome!!! Have you read the manga? Theres A LOT of differences in the first arc east blue. Also we finally get the official canon colors for all the charavters
Everyone brings up the Whitebeard censorship but it makes more sense that he is standing after getting two holes on his chest and not having half his brain melted off. Do you think current version Luffy can just keeping standing after half his head is gone? I know OP characters can survive some crazy stuff but half your head getting blown off should be insta death even in the one piece world.
So here's my little theory. Do you think, that the two series will end at the same time. So one can't spoil the finale for the other? Think about a grand summer celebration type event in Japan as a sendoff for One Piece, culminating in a 1 or 2 hour dual finale event they would televise to the world.
I mean I think that’s up to Oda and when he reaches the end of the manga I kinda doubt it though, I feel like The One Piece has gotta run for like, 10 years at least to catch up, even with its improved pacing. I KINDA doubt there’s ten years left in One Piece though, who even knows at this point.
13:30 - i cry often watching One Piece, i dunno who's not crying over One Piece, but i will cry for them, because evidently they cannot be moved by a story, like the majority of us.
Man I’m so excited to see one piece envisioned through the wit studio team. We’ve been stuck the the same version of one piece for so many years. This new version looks to be so much better in terms of creativity and pacing
Why does no one know Usopp was paler in the manga?? I haven't read the manga but I have watched the series. I see cover art for the books all over the internet. So idk why it can't take people more than 2 seconds to research & pull the original art up. This is like me finding out Kagome Higurashi (Inuyasha) originally had blue eyes and more navy blueish hair. OR-- 🚩SPOILERS FOR INUYASHA🚩 --that Ayame was an anime ONLY character so Koga wouldn't d×e alone. But in the manga he canonically remained faithful to Kagome to the end and never took another mat€. Sorry for spoilers of an old anime. 😅 But tbh you are living under a rock if you don't know the anime/manga by now.
Honestly, I wouldn't be against them replacing the entire VA cast of the Straw hats, for one reason, and that is because some of them are getting really old, especially Luffy's VA, who's already concerned she might not even live to see the end of the anime (or so I have heard/read somewhere, I don't remember where). So if she also voices in The One Piece, we could very well expect to see a VA change for Luffy somewhere down the line if they stick with the original cast. (Of course I would love, and want, to see them return to VA their roles)
Luffy’s VA Mayumi Tanaka is so fine. The VA Japanese people worried about the most is Franky’s VA now…. In Japanese we don’t understand what he is saying since Wano arc…and he was absent on the one piece day
38:45 - bruh, they are only practicing for what they are out to accomplish. you have to plan when you're remaking something, especially so that it still feels like the original Anime/Manga. they are not up to Fishman Island already, calm yourself.
