I completely agree, while you could say all these losses with no real consequences could just be the writing being lazy, I view it through the scope that luffy just had an incredible run of luck which plays in to that "why not" attitude. And as you said it does come back to bite luffy later on.

bread wave it’s all to build up to The Marineford saga where almost every character he faces is stronger than he is. And I have to disagree, Luffy is just stupid lol.

@@mr.sleepyhead8401(big spoilers incoming) . . . . . he changed significantly after the timeskip. The whole crew losing at sabaody and ace's death made him understand the stakes that they're playing with now. He's always going to be personally reckless, but he won't force his crew to be the same way anymore. The old luffy would've tried to stand and fight big mom on whole cake island. The new luffy knows that fight is not possible to win, so he needed to just take sanji and get the hell out of there.

@@Moody.Smiruai i know what nux's joking is like, i've watched every episode of this. This was different. He seemed personally offended that animak was trying to put himself in the straw hats' shoes because he thinks that's not how you're supposed to watch the show. I don't care if he gives him a hard time about it, when he made the joke about animak reacting to luffy seeing the doctor scene, that was fine. What was not fine was interrupting him multiple times to tell him how he was looking at the show wrong without even listening to the point that animak was trying to make. I even agreed with some of nux's points; the straw hats wanted to win with integrity even though the game was rigged, to show how much better they were as a crew. However, it is an indisputable fact that most people hated this arc because of the way that the stakes were set up and how the straw hats just went along with it, and animak was just trying to voice that view.

@@Moody.Smiruai I agree with you, you are totally right, the friends that piss you off and then you end up having a beer later are the best. But this is a Podcast, and they have audience, and we get annoyed by Nux pushing his ideas agressively, interrupting and answering the questions directed at Animax. So we are totally right as well.

The first time I watched it, I got super bored and annoyed with it half way through. I’m pretty sure I stopped watching One piece for a time because of it. The second time I watched it after I was caught up, I thought it was hilarious and greatly enjoyed it. I thought the anime filler just extended the comedy

I love the Davy Back Fight in the manga. Genuinely think it's great. And I loved the Adventure of Nebulandia OVA with Foxy. But the anime filler arcs with Foxy are like... really bad
