Hi Paul and Wenda I've been enjoying your travels for some time now very much. On the subject of bugs. Try K mart for the gas cans $4.50 last time I checked checked. Cheers Mick
Thanks for the video- so many great ideas 😊 You could also try wearing light coloured clothing and hats. Mosquitoes are attracted to dark colours. Fly nets for hats work well too.
Hi guys. Mostly found in horse supply stores, this product is all natural. Can be used on any surface including your skin and clothes. Called natures botanical. Have used this for many years and almost never been bitten. Made with rosemary and sandelwood
Great to see you both back for 2024. Have you tried the old fashioned mozzie coils & how do they compare with the newer electronic & gas powdered repellants? Our tip after being bitten & shredding our legs scratching from Sandfly & Midge bites, a mate in Derby advised applying a layer of SOOZ, which can be purchased from chemists, once dry then apply a layer of normal alcohol based hand sanitiser also rubbing into the red blotches. It was incredible, after a few applications every few hours, the itching went away & redness disappeared after a few days.
Thanks, we haven’t used the coils for years, there is a sense of nostalgia about them 😉 We actually have a tube of SOOV in the cupboard but forgot all bout it. So much to choose from haha Cheers Paul and Wenda
I think the saying you are looking for is; "If you think an individual can't make a difference, you've never spent the night in a tent with a mosquito." An African proverb quoted by the Dalai Lama.
Hi Guys, have just discovered your channel & enjoying it. Thanks for the tips for mossie/fly etc. when I’m camping I find the mossie coils useful & when attacked by the midges use Soov from a chemist. Cheers & thanks
I was given this recipe years ago by a lady who was a caravaner. Tub of sorbelene cream, about teaspoon of detox depending on the size of your sorbelene cream, plus few drops of pure citronella oil, I usually buy it from chemist. Mix it all together, we find it works a treat. You do smell a bit of citronella but it works
That’s great, there seems to be a few different recipes out there. Some a little bit on the questionable side but that sounds like it would be alright 👍 Thanks for sharing Cheers Paul and Wenda
G’day Melinda and Eric, our cars GVM is 3850kg ball weight is 400kg towing capacity is 4000kg. The van weighs 3000kg and GVM is 4000kg. We have done a couple of videos on the car and van Cheers Paul and Wenda
Hi Paul and Wenda, Another great episode. Thankyou for all the good info on the thermocell type products. I will certainly look into which one would best suit our needs. We also use good riddance as my husband suffers terribly from midgie bites. I did come across a very effective product called "midgie magic" by Hidden Valley in Broome for any bites that may occur. Might be worth a try down the track Wenda. Keep up the great work. 🦟🦟
Hey Paul & Wenda, Happy New Year. Thanks for all the info, there were some great tips! Looking forward to seeing your 2024 adventures. Stay safe & enjoy your travels. Corrie & Lyn ❤
Thank you Corrie and Lyn, happy new year to you also. We’re looking forward to 2024 and see what it brings 👍Thanks for your support and encouragement Cheers Paul and Wenda
When in the Solomon Islands I was told that Vitamin B deterred mozzies, and reduced the chance of getting malaria. They said that the best local source of vitamin B was Sol Brew. The national beer! I'm not sure if the beer stops the bites, or that after enough beers you just don't notice any more. Unfortunately, as I don't drink I wasn't able to test the theory. :)
I heard a fly man on abc radio. He says flies are female feeding for young egg. So when it finds you it keeps coming back, male flies like flowers. Next hippies taught me, mozzie bits, crystal deodorant that you screw out. Condies crystal in its ingredient.
Thank you 😊 we get our decals from Wondermade. www.wondermade.com.au they often have discounts on their website 👍 We update them every year as the grandkids get older.
As always guys very informative. Sadly we tend to only look for these deterrents when we are being attacked. Think we need to rethink our approach to bug management. 😂 great to see you both again stay safe.
Great video, thanks very much. We have just purchased the #flextail and are looking forward to testing. Am keen also to try the creams and spray. Can you advise where you purchased these?
Thanks we’re going to put a list of all the gear in the description. If you don’t see what you want let us know and we’ll add it 👍 Cheers Paul and Wenda
I hear mozzies flys and cockroches don't like lemon grass , you could have a lemon grass plant in a pot in kitchen window put in sink when travelling also lemon grass incents
Yeah lemongrass? Wenda has started growing some lavender and catnip. Apparently they are also good might add some lemongrass to the pots 👍 Cheers Paul and Wenda
@@thisnthat3530 yeah there are a few states that don’t allow you to take plants. Unfortunately when we head there we’ll have to do something with our plants 🥲
