I just got this drawing framed. the original footage was around 1.5 hours and I took the best 13 minutes out of that. I could use more footage but I have noticed the retention on my videos is bad as it is. lol I don't think people would stick around for that. that explains the memes and the text pop ups in the video just to make it a little more interesting!
And yes, this is 4K! took its sweet time to upload but it's fire quality!)
If you liked the video, then follow me on instagram. I upload many WIP of my works on stories over there! Also, instagram algorithm sucks so help a brother out LMAO!!

Terrific video and presentation. I kept my attention on that angel because I knew as soon as I looked away that it would get closer and closer 😱. Paying attention to each action and how it contributes to the details and the big picture is something I have to remind myself and practice. This is great advice for artists and really for any hobby or occupation. I’ve worn glasses almost my whole life and, when younger, would remove them and the world looked soft and blurry. I’d draw that and actually got the values more correct than when I could see clearly. I had to learn to mentally change my perception of detail as I’m viewing the reference, which I find extremely difficult and beneficial. Expecting to place a mark on the paper in exactly the correct location, with the perfect value and hue, well, when I think about it that way, seems ridiculous. I see that you draw general values (sometimes specific), blend, erase, and repeat that multiple times to achieve what you want, and that is part of the work and process.

Exactly man. You get it! And removing glasses the way you said you do is kinda cool cause that equates to artists squinting to see the average values without taking into account all sorts of details! Thank you for taking the time out to share your thoughts and commenting on my video!!

This is exactly the thing I needed today. :) I actually got up this morning with a plan in mind for being more mindful, trying to be more involved in my work and avoiding distractions. It really helped to reinforce that direction for me - thanks for making this!

I'm struggling here you say don't pay attention do close details but here you are shadowing before your done with your final sketch. This is how I learned to draw realism but never could fill the page finishing. Canvas art is so fickle, but necessary when you're in the business of selling real world art.
@SKYL001
@SKYL001 Месяц назад
@@StaticKayK-z2c well it is maybe a Lil tricky but the essence in my eyes are carried by the value changes themselves. You can skip out on close up details if you have the values which read properly with respect to the subject. Plus, I often jump in the shading before getting 100% of sketch bit done. It's just a workflow thing.. you will find something that works for you!
@ducksoff7236

Since when does shading have anything to do with "close details"? Shading just depicts value and form changes and can happen at any size. Not just "close details". So if he feels he has the form, proportion and angle correct what is the issue with putting in some value? None......which is why he is doing it.

drawing real life art is much different from perspective in my opinion. you can learn how to shade and make a copy but understanding what to ignore and what to keep beyond real life perspective is hard. Drawing real life art and what you perceive is key. it helps developed your skills in a fine-tuned way but learning how to design what's needed to convey your message and the comfort of getting it right. looking at your work not just as a paycheck is hard. It's kind of funny typing that out. Like my whole art adventure was started over bad fivver art I paid for. Later on I tried to sign up to sell my art, and couldn't because they weren't hiring new artists. Life throws you curveballs like that. You know you love something with you have the desire to pick it back up when the world is telling you to put it back down. finding the courage to get back up and do it anyway no matter how many passions you have or what your reason.. that's real drive. be proud!!

This is great advice. I have some amazing art designs that I created AI (back before I learned how to draw) that just don't give detail to what I want. I feel more confident that I can make those pieces really convey what I want. This video kind of restored me to try, in a lot of places I just gave up. thank you

Learning from this I see objects actions don't neccessarly have a higherarchy over the 3 principles to line weight. I don't change perspective based on that important detail. learning slowly but surely.

Great video. Mindfulness is so important, really paying attention to "what am I doing", instead of winging the drawing! Also I get easily distracted by music, working in silence can be difficult but its also really rewarding and I think it also makes the art experience more enjoyable
