Mets prospects are disproportionately overhyped because of their large market whether the team is good bad or ugly. Gregg Jefferies is the perfect example.
I think the X factor is athlete personality. I am a greater Boston resident and I see a scenario where Tatum's prices, even after a potential NBA championship, may still lag Luka, simply because Luka is more "interesting." Harold Baines is a good example (per your video). Harold Baines was a good player but boring. There is almost ZERO hobby love for boring athletes. An interesting case study on this would be Cal Ripken Jr. Boring baseball player on the field (IMO) but holds a sacred record/statistic in the game, so his "boringness" is pulled up in the hobby by his "sports tenure (again, IMO)" If we're talking about modern athletes, let's not forget how social media presence is/is not a factor when looking at card prices. More accessible/social athletes can move the needle with their own card prices, sometimes independent of winning/championships. Ultimately, I think it's less about geography and more about personality/stature in the sport.
I don't know what's so interesting about Luka. His personality doesn't do much for me. But Celtics in 5. Also, I disagree with Ripken being a boring player, but to each his own/
